Following on from the Podcast threads. The sad news about the declining health of the Queen is of concern.

RIP Queenie, you devoted your life to the country right up until the very end. I hope you are now back with your 'Rock'

There's a rainbow 🌈 over Windsor which was fitting.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 08/09/2022 18:53

Along with her beloved mother and father and her sister.

RIP Your Majesty.

I'm glad that 2 days ago she was alert, standing and smiling, although I'm sure the last few months were difficult.

RaininginDarling · 08/09/2022 18:59

Sad news but to be in the place you love with those you love is a good way to die.

RIP HM Queen Elizabeth II.

My thoughts are with her family at this time.

Bless her. Feels odd hearing King Charles.

ITVnews reporter just referred to "His Majesty the Queen" twice, when trying to talk about Charles. It will be so difficult to process that she is gone.

Condolences from an American who really loved QE.

MissMarpleRocks · 08/09/2022 19:15

RIP.

My dad died a few weeks ago & had his funeral 2 weeks ago. It was expected but it’s still the death of a parent no matter the age, it will be no different for their family ❤️

ChsmpagneWannaBe · 08/09/2022 19:15

So sad 😞
Loved watching her over the years.

Yes. I'm glad she was Balmoral.

Yes. And she walked her dogs fairly recently, I think?

RIP Queen Elizabeth II.

RIP Queenie
I'm glad it was Liz Truss I can't believe I'm typing this who announced the news and not that idiot, bumbling Boris.

EmmaH2022 · 08/09/2022 19:20

TheEgg don't worry, I was thinking the same.

TheEggChair · 08/09/2022 19:23

@EmmaH2022 can you imagine him trying to be serious with his hair and papers flapping about? Bloody embarrassing...

Yes, thank goodness for some dignity.

Do you think black armbands will be available?

I'd wear black to work but I fear the questions! There's one guy on site who went round the area glaring at people having street parties for the Jubilee.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 08/09/2022 19:30

Liz Truss sounded like she was reading something she wrote in a hurry , in the manner of a schoolgirl.
No emotion, completely robotic. What a disaster she is.

Boris’s words were really quite beautiful.

onlylarkin · 08/09/2022 19:36

I quite suspect that she did write it quickly. She has been on the job exactly, what, 3 days?

I thought she sounded just perfect.

TugboatAnnie · 08/09/2022 19:37

Boris had to 'outdo' Liz. He'd probably had that speech written years ago and didn't want to waste it.

It was fine. I thought I heard a little catch in her throat but who can blame her.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/09/2022 19:46

Her speech was as it should have been. She did grand in the circumstances.

Oh give the woman a break. I'm no fan of Truss but bugger me.

She sounded absolutely fine. She's been thrown in at the deep end. Boris had years to work on his. Im not a fan but come on
