Following on from the Podcast threads. The sad news about the declining health of the Queen is of concern.

Where did you hear this please? I am surprised by how upset I feel.

Just called my elderly parents and both were crying. My dad is ex forces as am I. All military swear an oath to the queen when they join, well back then anyway and I am remembering that oath today when I haven't thought about it in years.

I feel so so sorry for Prince Charles and her other children. They’ve been so lucky to have their parents for so long but it will be so upsetting especially after the loss of their father.

And if I were Zara or Beatrice and the others, I’d want to go up too. I know Prince William is the future king but they will love her just as much. Their Christmas this year will be so sad and different.

I cant say, genuinely. Ofcourse it may change but i think shes gone, I'm so upset.

I feel quite odd, not helped by the fact that after months of literally no rain here we are now in the middle of a real storm and the internet keeps cutting in and out. It's also the year anniversary of a very sad event.

Not a day any of us will forget, I think.

According to Sky , H and M’s flight has just landed at Aberdeen

They have just corrected that and said it is William , Edward and Sophie

My DM has been crying too. It’s the end of a very long era.

I'm expecting them to make a formal announcement once the family have arrived. I think its only fair that the family get to say their goodbyes first.

Announcement at 5pm - I have on good authority.

Either 5pm today or 8am tomorrow.

I heard 6pm.

I may have mad that up.

Is that the same "good authority" as the person who said it was at 4pm?

This is really pathetic.

There's no point speculating on when announcements will be. They will be when they will be.

Just watched it on BBC and they are all wearing black and talking in past tense now too.

I feel very sad to think that either she's already passed away or it is imminent. Things in the UK/World have felt really shit and scary this year, and this would just add to an already solemn feeling across the nation.

I can't see a happy ending if all the family have been summoned.

I know she's 96 but it's kind of felt like she'll always be there.

Andrew was with them too.

It's very sad . But I believe she has gone and the announcement will be made at 5pm today or 8 am tomorrow.

I imagine they change when they get a chance. And they've probably practiced this so many times they are automatically speaking in past tense.

There seem to be an awful lot of people on Mumsnet with "contacts" this afternoon. I believe those in a position to "know" anything will be too busy (and well trained) to be contacting all their friends and rellies with details.

We have all worked out how serious this is and could hazard guesses as to timing, some of us prefer not to.
