The Queen

Following on from the Podcast threads. The sad news about the declining health of the Queen is of concern.

Pleased and surprised that Meghan hasn't gone - I thought she'd go to support Harry - but as Nicholas Witchell just said on the BBC: 'I can imagine she wouldn't be very welcome'. Well, quite!

I genuinely see both sides of this one - in Harry’s shoes I’d absolutely want my partner with me if I was heading into an emotional situation with a family I was barely on speaking terms with, but I can also see him thinking that she’d have a fairly horrible time of it too, as she’d be stuck making small talk with people she didn’t want to see either. And then the family probably feel they have enough on their plates without also having to host someone whom most of them probably have little time for. On balance, probably best that she stays in London.

It's hardly gossip! Purely a factual statement, supporting the growing belief that an announcement is imminent.

Harry going on his own might actually give him a chance to rebuild bridges with the family during this.

It's not looking good is it.

I'm not much of a monarchist but I feel surprisingly sad.

Think it's appropriate for H to go alone. Though not a supporter of H&M in general it's right he should be there and I think M attending wouldn't be in her or the RF best interests - it's too emotional a time for navigating strained relationships (on both sides).

There are comments on at least one other thread that make the podcast ones look like a gathering of the Meghan fan club (no names I recognise making them) Really unpleasant and unseemly.

I'm glad they were in the UK and Harry could go and agree probably best for her as much as anyone that he went alone.

Would be lovely but I shouldn't think it would stick once he gets back to his wife. Their brand depends on being victims of the evil monarchy.

Like everyone, we don’t expect everyone to go on forever in the pinkest of health.

I just hadn’t expected to feel quite so sad about today’s events.

The dog has even came and parked herself in my lap (the heaving lump) - knowing something is not right.

I’ve a lump in my throat nae canny.

Forces colleagues who served alongside have been in touch and say they are feeling the same.

The queen's hands looked so blue and purple in the picture of her the other day.

Hope when her time comes, she passes pain free and surrounded by the love of her family.
