With another podcast set for release this week, The Sunday Times has a piece addressing Harry and Meghan's apparent strategy:

Courtiers are bemused by the Sussexes’ determination to rage against the past. As Davis observed of Meghan in her article: “She has taken a hardship and turned it into content.” A source who knows the Sussexes questions why Meghan “is constantly looking back at how awful it was to briefly be a royal. What does success look like, is it a number in the bank? Is it that they’ve killed off the monarchy?” Another Palace source says: “Ultimately they are bashing the institution that has put them in the position they’re in, the longevity of that strategy is not sustainable.”

I'm curious about their strategy, too. They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better - it really doesn't. Instead, it just makes them look petty and increasingly irrelevant.

Omid Scobie linked to Michelle Obama speaking which is a bad idea as it just highlights just how shallow and self centred and waffling Meghan is.

Agree with this, I'm in Germany and the visit really didn't seem to receive much media attention at all. I wasted a lot of time on Twitter yesterday (German politics Twitter is quite addictive and depressing in equal measure at the moment) and the only post I saw about Harry and Meghan was the one attached. Translation: "Harry and Meghan at the opening of two portaloos in Duesseldorf." 🙈

He certainly does his clients no favours. Yesterday’s leak capped off a singularly disastrous pseudo-royal tour.

Hopefully H&M learn from the experience & don’t hurry back. It’s pretty clear there’s little for them here.

I can absolutely understand not wanting her children exposed to the media. I don’t even post pictures of my cats online.

I’m not surprised the Sussexes have Omid Scobie putting out incendiary stories to be honest - the last three days and only two mentions on the font pages can’t be remotely the coverage they would have been hoping for from this trip.

(In a way it’s just unfortunate timing as I’m sure as the events they have come over for would have been diarised long ago and the coincidence with the new PM being announced and schools going back is just one of those things, but it’s not what they would have wanted for a heavily-trailed trip).

@Serenster the return to school was always in the calendar- perhaps they’d hoped to trump it?

I definitely think the comments in the Cut article (about Meghan would never be able to do the school run without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures, and how her saying no to that was because she was a strong and good parent protecting her child) was running some advance spoiling because she knew the school pictures would be out.

If so it seems a poor choice, since all it's done is highlight that it's perfectly possible for the RF to take the kids to school without a media scrum, and in doing so made the remark look rather foolish

i can’t remember if the Sussexes are still here. If they are, I hope they will go to Balmoral following the announcement about the Queen’s health concerns

Thanks for posting the front pages montages @Serenster - they really illustrate how unimportant H&M's little pseudo tour has been. I wonder too if there has been a decision by the British media to give them as little publicity as possible, or perhaps having them on the front page negatively affects sales?
