I respect the institution and prefer it to some dumb politician as president. Personally I think H&M should lose their royal titles as they are not working royals any more and all they want to do is criticise the very institutions that gives them any relevance. I mean, who would listen to a pretty dim bloke and a second rate actress if it wasn’t for their royal connection?

5, 4, 3,2,1…….

But what about Andrew ???

I agree about the titles . Plus A and SF .

I get the feeling that a lot of it is a performance for Harry. She needs to keep him feeling emotionally connected to her narrative as victim, maybe because that’s what makes him feel like her hero.

She seemed to do much better personally, if not financially, as an independent woman who aspired to be an A listed in the social media world, before she met Harry.

Yes I think this is true. Also she doesn’t want him reconnecting with his family so needs to keep him angry and aggrieved. Which is so sad if accurate. I think she keeps stoking the fire .

@Malie
You sound very young .

LondonWolf · 02/09/2022 08:30

The huge public response to H & M is not only a good indicator of this sentiment but highlights just how much support there is for the monarchy. H & M sought to undermine the institution, which prompted many, who may not have considered doing so previously, into action to defend it. The large number of discussions about H & M are telling us more about support for the monarchy than any poll ever will.

Indeed. Can I just say I am really enjoying your posts on these threads. @MaulPerton. Insightful and thoughtful.

ajandjjmum · 02/09/2022 08:31

@Malie You don't sound young, your view is valid and adds up.

SpinCityBlues · 02/09/2022 08:35

The Mail Online has spoken to Lebo M and got the footage of the premiere (the royal line-up meet-and-greet). Article is online now. Looks like he wasn’t the ‘Mandela mentioner’ either.

The Mail Online is really not letting this go. It’s in its interests to prove M is a liar, as it may appeal against her court win a while ago or take other actions. This is a bitter war.

LondonWolf · 02/09/2022 08:36

I am also interested in the motivations behind everyone here, including me.

She reminds hugely me of a family member who I love but who has behaved extremely damagingly within our family for years. I was hooked in from the engagement interview which I alternately cringed at and was fascinated by - her intentions were SO obvious if you knew what you were looking at. The OW interview and regular assertions from M and those close to her of the UK and almost everyone in it being hugely racist and unkind to her outraged me and have kept me hooked in ever since.

Good question. Interesting to examine my own feelings towards M, and increasingly H.

@Novella4
you sound very patronising

Ommommomm · 02/09/2022 08:38

@DFOD

yes, sorry, what I meant was that she seemed to do better before she met Harry, personally “thriving” to use her language although obviously not as well financially.

Marrying Harry brought wealth and influence beyond her dreams to begin with but it soon wasn’t enough, perhaps inevitably. It must be hard being married to a man-child who, by both their accounts, has anger and abandonment issues caused by the horrific death of his mother. I can relate from personal experience how incredibly difficult it is when your partner has so many unresolved issues, no matter how much you love them. It is an extremely challenging relationship.

No you don't @Malie.

More deflecting and snide rudeness in the name of defending M 🙄

Novella4 · 02/09/2022 08:39

@pilates no doubt I do to uninformed royalists .

@LondonWolf

That makes sense.

I think there is a contingent who is upset to see PW and PH no longer have one another to depend upon. They endured so much difficulty and tragedy, and on a world stage even prior to conception. But they had one another. I’m sure some people feel possessive of them in a weird way.

And though it is their own responsibility, their relationship tanking corresponded with her arrival on the scene. Affable Uncle Harry is no more.

Someone compared her to Yoko. I think that is apt at least in the way she is perceived by some. Maybe me.

Not sure I made myself clear - I was referring to the usual posters who always jump in with “ what about Andrew” to try and derail the thread .

And ignore the patronising poster !

The fact she’s doing what she should be doing to help resolve whatever issues he has is apparent to everyone with any intelligence. The woman is just trying to make herself a big name and poor Harry was a convenient sap. You can see is almost being written out the picture

Ohnonevermind · 02/09/2022 08:51

What is the sunshine strategy here with Meghan. Does she care whether it’s fame or infamy which keeps her in the papers.

I can’t see a long term - Obama style philanthropy fame going on if she carries on this path.

She’s had warnings from them, the WP but she’s heading towards reality TV territory now. I can’t believe that’s what Harry would like but what Meghan wants, Meghan gets

unname · 02/09/2022 08:51

Let’s play a game called “Let me ask you a derailing question then use your answer to insult you!”

There is a list of behaviors that poster exhibit which should result in being permanently ignored. Insulting the person rather than debating constructively is top of the list.

I wonder this also.

Kardashians get attention at any cost. Is that what’s happening here? (I’m not saying MM would ever been so crude as they’ve become, but maybe doesn’t mind being thought ridiculous if it puts her in the headlines.)

I’m not sure I understand your post. Are you being patronising with your “everyone with any intelligence” comment? Forgive me if I’ve misunderstood what you are saying, it wasn’t very clear to me.

Yes I said this on the previous thread - step back, ignore the bait and derailing and discuss above their heads - assume they are disruptive toddlers.

unname · 02/09/2022 08:59

Example - having your security give hand outs to the homeless with a reporter in the car. This is utterly ridiculous to me. Was she serious or trolling for attention?

what he said is "everyone in SA heard of Meghan Markle "which is a sweet compliment , if he is the one she’s talking about , then why didn’t she say that instead "everyone was celebrating in the streets like the day they released Mandela."

to me it sounds that marrying Harry was a great achievement for her.
so odd coming from a strong , independent woman.
