The British public were the really unreasonable ones when Diana died

Well, some of them, but otherwise I agree completely

Can you imagine having said that on a site like this at the time though? MN would have gone into meltdown with the deletions Hmm

Yes that's true! And absolutely, only some of the BP.

Talking about lying, I was horrified to read this about William

Robert Jobson

@theroyaleditor
Prince William’s decision to LIE about contracting COVID-19 earlier - for whatever reason - is appalling. KP were are asked several times by the media whether Prince William had contracted the virus and were told categorically “no”. This has created a serious issue of trust.

🤣🤣 -
you were horrified about that?
Can't imagine what you think about MM then, you must surely be incandescent with rage.

I think a 'No' was probably preferable to 'mind your own business' which is probably what I would have said.

HeddaGarbled · 01/09/2022 19:33

Out of interest who do these poll makers ask?
I have never met any one who has taken part.
I don’t think younger people have much time for them

Bunch of amateurs like yougov, I expect they asked 3 old ladies outside M&S on a Monday morning 🤷‍♀️

Don’t be so silly.

BunsyGirl · 01/09/2022 19:35

@Vanderpump so what happens if she makes a specific allegation of racism against a senior royal, tensions boil over and we end up with protests that turn into riots. It’s a possibility. If she’s telling the truth, I will protest too. But is she’s lying…

Oh and you’ve nothing to worry about, I don’t have anything to do with the justice system.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/09/2022 19:39

I am focusing on the potential repercussions of her behaviour

So am I, BunsyGirl, and it's because principles matter more than personalities that I mentioned the sensitive topics which Meghan chooses to involve herself in - and as a self proclaimed champion of compassion and fairness at that

Like it or not Meghan's aiming at a very high profile, and I'm not convinced it's helpful if that compassion and fairness turn out to be anything but

derxa · 01/09/2022 19:40

Veeragall · 01/09/2022 19:24

Derxa. My friend is married to someone who behaves and acts like Meghan. The last thing he would do is tell her to get a grip. Even though he knows that she has alienated him from everyone he loves (except me, I'm digging my heels in!) he cannot stand up to her. He loves her, and he is scared of the fallout if he stands up to her. It's hard to watch. Very hard.

What a difficult situation. I think we all need people in our lives to tell us we're behaving like plonkers

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:40

@StormzyinaTCup

He lied about having covid . Lied to the royal reporters .

Why did he lie ? Who knows .
He was joking about spreading covid in March and said it was hyped by the media
He tested positive in April.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/09/2022 19:43

Here you go, Samcro:

yougov.co.uk/about/panel-methodology/

Serenster · 01/09/2022 19:50

To turn the question around, Novella, why should a previously healthy 30-something man have to disclose private information about his health when he’s not at an at-risk group for Covid?

What else do you think he should be telling us about? What health information he allowed to treat as private?

Malie · 01/09/2022 19:51

dworky · 01/09/2022 18:04

Why can't you leave her alone? She's done nothing wrong, if you don't like what she says you don't have to listen.

You are wrong here. She is using her position to try and bring the name of our RF into disrepute by making totally unjustified and unproven allegations. That is wrong. If she and her not very bright husband just got on with their lives OK but the only reason anyone listens to her is her connection with the RF and she seems to want to do everything she can to embarrass the institution. Like biting the hand that feeds you.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:51

@Serenster
Maybe because it was a highly infectious disease which was proving fatal to some ?

You know , do the responsible thing like the rest of us ?

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:53

@Serenster and as you say , not in the risk group so why lie ?
If privacy is so important why not say it private ?
Why lie ?

LittleBearPad · 01/09/2022 19:53

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:51

@Serenster
Maybe because it was a highly infectious disease which was proving fatal to some ?

The responsible thing was to isolate. He wasn’t required to publish his health status?

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:54

But he didn't decline to update health status .
He said he didn't have it

Serenster · 01/09/2022 19:58

He’s still entitled to privacy about his heath, Novella. And I have never seen that he lied - he did not volunteer the information, but that is different to lying about it.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 19:59

@Serenster Entitled to privacy is not the same as lying .

The journalists knew he had it . When they asked for confirmation in order to publish they were told he didn't have it

Look at Robert Johnson's Twitter.

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 20:01

@Serenster you are misinformed

Robert Jobson, Evening Standard Royal editor, tweeted: “Prince William’s decision to lie about contracting Covid-19 earlier – for whatever reason – is appalling.
“[Kensington Palance] were are asked several times by the media whether Prince William had contracted the virus and were told categorically ‘no’. This has created a serious issue of trust.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/09/2022 20:04

Big pieces of onion are icky. ICKY.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/09/2022 20:04

Ooops. Wrong thread. Grin

cyclamenqueen · 01/09/2022 20:05

My understanding was that the palace were advised by number 10 not to disclose as the PM had it and so did Prince Charles. They were worried apparently that it might induce more panic

LittleBearPad · 01/09/2022 20:05

I think it added to the quality of the discussion tbh

Novella4 · 01/09/2022 20:05

Lol

Panic . Right ...

Serenster · 01/09/2022 20:05

I disagree. But I presume you accordingly think it was also wrong of Meghan and Harry to lie about her going into Labour with Archie? They had after all specifically told the press that they’d tell them that, and then didn’t.

StormzyinaTCup · 01/09/2022 20:06

How about, just maybe, PW didn't want the attention and the media focus on him when lots of people were suffering considerably more than he was. Empathy, self-awareness and thinking of others perhaps?

LittleBearPad · 01/09/2022 20:07

Ah yes the Labour that was announced post birth. Odd
