As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

Mm seems very hardworking

You think coming up with one podcast series and zero content for Netflix in two years is evidence of being 'hardworking'? Some people put out podcasts on a weekly basis, in addition to other projects.

and the podcasts etc would have been a great boost to modernise the RF.

Nothing at all modern about vapid, naval gazing podcasts.

Flowerandtrees · 31/08/2022 13:17

How many royal engagements has Kate done in the last year? And how much does she/W get from Charles/RF?

i dont follow the RF, but I think these podcasts are a good platform and not sure why MM could t do these within the RF...?

And why e don’t have a series by Kate? I’ve never heard of anything and last I remembered is they attended Wimbledon (which I assume is a perk of the job, not the actual job)

but apologies, I don’t quite follow the news but think Serena Williams is a great tennis player and role model for women and fantastic to have her on a podcast

@Blossomtoes

The facts are :
Girls were trafficked
Andrew was close friends with Epstein

This is before we get to the BBC interview and 12 million given to someone he says he'd never met .

Exactly. Your point is?

Kate is patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, so attending matches is part of her 'actual job'.

And I'm not sure why you think podcasts where the 'interviewer' mainly talks about themselves and the hardships of their highly privileged lives is a 'good platform' for a member of the royal family. Could you elaborate?

Which one means he's a paedophile?

No one has suggested he hasn't done anything wrong but that doesn't mean he's a paedophile.

Flowerandtrees · 31/08/2022 13:29

How is watching Wimbledon considered work?

if Kate is a ‘patron’ of tennis,, shouldn’t she have taken the initiative to have a podcast and interview Serena/ other women tennis players to inspire young girls?

honestly, I’m not sure what Kate does, given the amount of time and resources available to her. She is my age but I can’t see anything of relevance in what she does.

at least with the Serena interview I felt there was something positive and affirming about how ambition is viewed, something many of us have experienced.

Gilmorehill · 31/08/2022 13:30

How could there have been a reception? Covid rules at the time didn’t allow indoor socialising.

Blossomtoes · 31/08/2022 13:31

What are your achievements @Flowerandtrees?

To repeat, Kate is patron of the LTA so attending matches and handing out the trophy is part of her job. Just like attending football matches is part of William's job as President of the FA.

If you want to know more about what Kate does, why not consult the Court Circular? Not sure why you're discussing it here in any case, as it's not the subject of the thread. Why not start a new thread if you're that interested?

SpinCityBlues · 31/08/2022 13:37

Blossomtoes · 31/08/2022 13:20

Exactly. Your point is?

Is this about accuracy of terminology?

We can call Epstein a paedophile because (a) he was, and (b) he's dead.

We cannot call 'A' a paedophile because (a) he's not dead so we have to be extra careful, even though he'll likely never sue anyone but MNHQ don't need the headache of being moaned at, and (b) the girl(s) alleged to have been 'provided' to him (ugh, sorry about the language but it's hard to adequately describe such a fucked up world within talk guidelines and the legalities) was/were 16-17.

I think the correct term for someone who is alleged to have a sexual desire (paraphilia) for mid to late adolescents of around 15-19 years is (alleged) 'ephebophile'. And there are many made-up psychiatric terms for all sorts of chronophilias.

Although 'nonce' tends to cover it in many British towns, and 'peedo' is often used as a kind of shorthand for that for many.

Novella4 · 31/08/2022 13:38

@Blossomtoes

My point is ( and it is shocking that this is news to you) 12 million was given by ( the taxpayer/ the queen) Andrew to someone he claims he has had nothing to do with .

Your point is ?

Blossomtoes · 31/08/2022 13:39

Is this about accuracy of terminology?

Yes.

Flowerandtrees · 31/08/2022 13:40

@Blossomtoes i have quite a few achievements, and have put in lots of hard work.

now back to Kate, what exactly has she achieved and done for our country and young people?

I am no fan of MM, but can acknowledge that she works harder than Kate and it would be great if Kate could do similarly engaging podcasts as part of the RF.

SpinCityBlues · 31/08/2022 13:44

Actually, @Flowerandtrees, you could be on to something there.

Princess Eugenie is the patron of an anti-trafficking charity, so she should do a podcast and interview her father about his close friendships with the trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and the trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, and how it was all financed. Her close friends Meghan and Harry Sussex will help her do it, I'm sure.

Are you aware of the topic of this thread?

Why are you asking people to discuss something entirely off topic?

Why not start your own thread, instead of trying to hijack this one?

I don't have a summary of KM's schedule, but I am linking one of W. Maybe, despite the nannies, she would like to be 'hands on'. - I think we were told that was the intention for both with their recent move to their 4th 'cottage'.

If you have time, you can find it all on here. Phone calls are counted as work. I have also included some of his 'busy' times too.
www.royal.uk/court-circular

In terms of how much he was paid. Not sure, but when he and Harry were there they we're allocated £4M, and the press told us H has half, so £2M. How that amount never went down after H left, is a mystery.

OK, threads wander, but this really isn't about Kate and what she may or may not do.

Sounds like you're not really interested in the facts - just trying to have a dig. The information is out there if you want to educate yourself.

Serenster · 31/08/2022 13:50

Like the time she recently played tennis with the UK’s successful US Open tennis champions (Joe Salisbury, wheelchair players Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid and Emma Raducanu) to support the Lawn Tennis Association’s Youth programme?

Like setting up a charitable collaboration with Roger Federer’s Laver Cup where the practice day in September will raise money for Action for Children and the Lawn Tennis Association’s charity?

Like that, you mean?

SpinCityBlues · 31/08/2022 13:50

There's a thread running called 'Unpopular opinions on the Royals' or similar, that I'm on, so it's a good place to slag off future monarchs and their consorts if you want to, @Flowerandtrees. It's a fair comment that the title of this one is what it should be about tbh.

I'm still convinced you are taking the piss, but just for the laugh I would love you to explain how Megan works harder please.
Not that I think Kate works particularly hard, none of them do - they are all overprivileged and unnecessary.

You seem very hung up on podcasts as a demonstration of work ethic - how exactly does a few episodes of a podcast translate to 'working harder'?

KnickerlessParsons · 31/08/2022 13:51

It would have been, except that she wasn't allowed to get a word in, and when she did, if it wasn't about Meghan, it soon was.
