As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

This his the thing with these threads, with people constantly claiming ignorance. Maybe you don't see the dogwhistles yourself, I can't really help you. I gave the link.
These links are from real journalist who constantly comment on the RF - in fact, Myers seems to be the spokesperson on Lorraine.

The RRs may have been given the rules about the royals, but there are other ways around this, because it's not a rule for everyone, and most publications, use agencies to do this bidding.
Now and again we do get papping of the royals, either driving to church etc. so it's easy to take pics of MM, but the written article then talks about 'her' and Archie's 'reaction' - most likely small digs will be put in about his behaviour . Archie in the meantime is not under protection.

There was also the time that H&M were told they are stripped of security, then the press were tipped off about their location. That was in all the papers and presented in a certain negative way.

Yes, yes we get it. She's a beleaguered saint and we must believe everything she says without question or else we're evil racists. Got it.
Cult of personality strikes again.

LobeliaBaggins · 30/08/2022 18:14

I think they would have been better off saying that we love the family bond but there were cultural differences & difficulties rather than outright victimhood. People would have understood & respected that.

This! Obviously a very Californian actress with a past and a penchant for "woo" wasn't going to fit into the royal family. She could have said that graciously instead of endlessly whinging. Continued to live abroad if needed but just kept a low profile. I guess they need to whinge to make money.

I am usually the first to stand by POC but my god she is irritating.

The thing that really saddens me is the rift between William and Harry. They spent 30 odd years having one another’s backs and now they’re not even speaking. The mum they both loved so much would have been heartbroken.

I agree. It's bloody horrible

AchatAVendre · 30/08/2022 16:21

Its probably because she constantly seeks out the limelight though her celebrity marriage and makes improbable self aggrandising claims, such as her most recent comparing herself to Nelson Mandela. hth.

If you yourself, for whatever reasons, are unusually dazzled by celebrity or fame, then perhaps that provides the answer to your question.

So very true.

I think she is deliberately turning conventional expectation on its head. She has married a Prince but turned him into her underling. Someone she steers around or walks ahead of. He pops up during HER interview to compliment someone’s hair, then disappears again. He juggles outside whilst she zooms.

On the OW interview he is only permitted to appear halfway through, once M has had her say. Her attitude towards him is of condescending indulgence. She wants everyone to see that he may be Royal, but she’s in control. It’s the ultimate two fingers up to the RF.

I agree with this and I do wonder if she's being advised around this and by whom. I have my suspicions tbh.

susan12345678 · 30/08/2022 18:18

She seems ruthless and determined which means she'll probably be very successful but will be prepared to hurt many people along the way. Which would be fine to some degree, as that's what successful people are often like. But it's the pretence that's she's all about kindness and empathy that I cannot bear, and that's she's a victim

Lately she's reminding me a bit of Madonna... Specifically, Swept Away era Madonna 😁

I avoid anything about those that irritate me. I don't want to read about them nor do I want to post about them

so why come on these threads then, because people who dare to criticise MM clearly irritate you. And yet you post about them too.

kind of ironic, given the above assertion.

actually, kind of like the stuff MM said about her back-yard “wedding”

MaulPerton · 30/08/2022 16:37

That article is hilarious. Love the photo of her sitting at her power desk, with Harry looking creepily in the window - at first I thought he was the gardener or something.
He really has been relegated to useful idiot

This made me laugh. I can't unsee it now.

Maybe they like acting out Lady Chatterly and her lover?

LondonWolf · 30/08/2022 18:25

There is a third option, which is that many former colleagues and current friends HAVE sided with her, testified to her character and said how generally pleasant, thoughtful etc she is. Her ex husband hasn’t uttered a word but must have been offered £££ to do so.

Or they're scared of being labelled racist like the entire British nation was, and losing their careers and ability to provide for themselves and family.

MoodyMooToo · 30/08/2022 18:26

notanotheroneagain · 30/08/2022 08:31

You all have a lot of nerve telling a black person who has experienced relentless racism to 'just let it go'.

You believe every nasty rumour from royal sources who are unnamed, but when it comes from the horse's mouth, you now don't believe.

No she has a nerve to say the press used the n word which is complete bullshit. No one is denying she got racially abused by trolls. Danny Baker got asked for the meme and quite rightly so. If she’s going to talk about the abuse she suffered then she needs to be factual, unless you can point out the article that uses the n word to describe her or the children?

upinaballoon · 30/08/2022 18:05

What's a power desk, please?

It's a desk to show how powerful she is - I would have thought that was obvious from the name.

Loftily placed in front of a stone fireplace, laden with white flowers and a crystal etc. etc. to demonstrate her feminine strength yet gentle serenity.

While Harry does the sweeping outside.

MalagaNights · 30/08/2022 18:31

Reports on the Mariah Carey podcast are revealing.

MM obviously bristled when MC tried to joke they were both a bit Diva ish. MM said she didn't 'connect with this' until she realised it was a compliment, then she understood.

MM doesn't seem able to take a joke, or any self deprecation she could only respond once she'd interpreted it as a compliment about how great she is.

When you've reached the point that Mariah Carey is more self deprecating and funny than you, you've really bypassed sanity.

HubbaHubble · 30/08/2022 18:31

I wonder when that gormless idiot Harry will wake from her spell?

Or maybe he actually is in love with her, and she with him?

Museya15 · 30/08/2022 18:06

I wonder when that gormless idiot Harry will wake from her spell?

I don't think that he is under any spell. I think that he truly loves her.

And when they break up I think that it will destroy him.

LittleBearPad · 30/08/2022 18:37

Things briefly look up when Mariah tells Meghan she has some diva moments, which goes down like a lead balloon so she backtracks swiftly. All she meant, it transpires, is that Meghan is beautiful and wears nice frocks and that’s, like, totally why she gets called a diva.

We conclude with Meghan’s astute summing up, which this week is “Oh MAN I love it, she is sooooo . . . Mariah.” Quite so. Last word to Meghan, obviously, who tells us that her faith is greater than her fear “especially these past few years’’. What a brave soldier. In God, Netflix and Spotify’s cash we trust.

🤣 From The Times review. It’s going to be an entertaining few months

LadyVictoriaSponge · 30/08/2022 18:39

Meghan really does not take well to any perceived slight or criticism, luckily Mariah had a shovel to dig herself out of the hole she had dug herself before Meghan used it to bury her with.

Later in her podcast, Meghan admitted that she initially thought Mariah was criticising her by calling her a diva, only to learn that she meant it as a compliment.

'My fangirling was tempered today,' said Meghan. 'I kind of think she could tell. But that aside, it was all going swimmingly, really well, until that moment happened, which I don't know about you, but it stopped me in my tracks. When she called me a diva

'You couldn't see me, obviously, but I started to sweat a little bit and started squirming in my chair in this quiet revolt, like "wait, no, what, how could you? That's not true, why would you say that?"

'My mind was genuinely just spinning with what nonsense she must have read or clicked on to make her say that, and I just kept thinking in that moment was my girl crush coming to a quick demise? Does she actually not see me?

'So, she must have felt my nervous laughter, and you would've all heard it too, and she jumped straight in to make sure I was crystal clear when she said diva, she was talking about the way that I dress, the posture, the clothing, the quote, unquote fabulousness, as she sees it.

I think he is in love and he won't wake up.

He wants her and needs her and now has nothing else.

I wonder for how long she'll endure his moping and lack of useful input. If his title starts to have less impact and use, I imagine her patience with his unhappiness and anger and sulking and lack of direction will wear thin.

My prediction: she'll blame his depression on their split and the cause of his depression his dysfunctional family.

She'll only move on when it's clear there's another path for her without him e.g. a big job in politics or the entertainment industry.

This would be played as her independent boss girl move and although she'd be very sad about the split with Harry she can't be responsible for his emotional state caused by his family.

Ohnonevermind · 30/08/2022 18:42

I think Harry loves Meghan, pure and simple.

their dynamic reminds me of Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence

Snog · 30/08/2022 18:43

Did Harry have a sideshow cameo in the latest podcast does anyone know?
Did he like Mariah's hair?

HubbaHubble · 30/08/2022 18:43

When you've reached the point that Mariah Carey is more self deprecating and funny than you, you've really bypassed sanity.

That’s not really true though. Mariah has a wicked sense of humour and knows how to send herself up, ie her Walkers Crisps advert is hilarious because she is in on the joke.

I think that’s actually the key difference between being likeable and not. The ability to poke fun at yourself is a great leveller. MC was gently teasing Meghan finds any kind of critical insight hurtful and needed to explain to the podcast that MC was actually complimenting her.

I thinks she (MM) is a very bruised character.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 30/08/2022 18:45

'She meant diva as a compliment, but I heard it as a dig, I heard it as the word diva as I think of it, but in that moment as she explained to me, she meant it as chic, as aspirational, and how one very charged word can mean something different for each of us, it's mind-blowing to me.'

can you imagine how she would be with non celebrity people who dare criticise her?

I agree. I’ve thought that myself.

Paula Yates and Miichael Hutchence?!!!!!
Surely not?
That doesn't bode well for either of them
