Pros:
She looks amazing in the publicity photo and video. Best she's looked since the early Royal fam days.
She has a lovely voice for radio - seems like she's done some training or practicing since the Elephant movie.
The design of the marketing of the podcast looks very classy. Great first guest, good premise for the series and I like the idea of picking a different theme for each guest. Great to start with Serena Williams right now as she is retiring and a perfect time for a reflective interview. The next few guests also look like interesting choices.
Cons:
The name of the podcast! I know it's a play on Archewell but the themes they are talking about are STEREOTYPES not archetypes - they mean completely different things!
Meghan talked way too much about herself and talked way too much in general - sometimes as a host you have to fill a bit if your guest hasn't got too much to talk about but this was Serena Williams - her story of achievement and the reaction of the establishment in the tennis world to her ambition is fascinating. Someone did a count of the transcript and Meghan talked 1.5 time as much as Serena.
The fire story irritates me (partly because it was not actually a fire with flames but a little bit of smoke which was instantly fixed by simply unplugging the heater) but the main problem with that story is it was told as a 'one-up on you' response to Serena talking about an incident where her baby girl had broken a wrist while being taken care of by Serena and she had to deal with all the Mum guilt over that, and a night of no sleep with a hurt baby and go and play and win a major tennis game the next day. As the interviewer, Meghan should have stayed with Serena's feelings and story and explored that more, not say well let me tell you about the time Archie nearly perished in a fire and I had to go back to work.
And the language she uses is weird when describing these incidents which seem to be a clap back at the royal family.
"the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit that they had had us staying in"
Sounds like they were dumped in a roach motel not the British High Commissioner's residence in Cape Town which is a mansion where all visiting royals and VIPs stay!
