Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

Listened to about 30mins so far. I listen to a lot of podcasts and surprised she didn’t get more training. Her voice is beautiful (she should do more voiceovers) and perfect for podcasts but the content is very shallow and clichéd. No follow up questions for Serena, she interrupts a lot and makes it about her.
only for hardcore MM fans, lots of better podcasts around on similar topics.

AdriannaP · 24/08/2022 08:34

The “surprise” Harry cameo is embarrassing and cringe worthy (Serena and her pretending to have British accent)

as I said I listen to a lot of podcasts, never had a spouse pop in by “accident”

notanotheroneagain · 24/08/2022 08:41

I listened to the whole thing.
Lovely voice, well researched and structured.
Jokes as well as touching moments, but never straying from the core of the message which is how ambition is viewed when it's women.

Can hardly wait for the one with Mariah. Would love an interview with Kamala Harris/ Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton.

NiceTwin · 24/08/2022 08:46

She comes across as having an almighty chip on her shoulder.
Didn't really have an opinion on her before. Now? Well I won't be listening again.I

Her child wasn't in a burning nursery because he was with the nanny yet she bleats about having to do another engagement. Crikey, if we all crumbled whenever we had a perceived near miss in life, not a lot would get done.

susan12345678 · 24/08/2022 08:47

Admittedly shallow of me, but I really hope she ask Mariah about that random relationship she had with James Packer! Such an odd couple they made

I think she pushes her own agenda at every turn, which all celebrities do, but it's just so obvious with her. An actual fire which endangered a royal baby is a terrible thing. I'd have thought we'd have heard about it at the time.

Maireas · 24/08/2022 08:56

I think it's a very good point that women who are ambitious are criticised and seen as threatening. However, it seemed to me to be off tangent, and Meghan would be wise to take some advice about technique. There were some valid points, but I don't know what the P&G letter or the near miss with the fire had to do with ambition and women, so I hope maybe programmes featuring Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton will be a bit tighter.

She's got her own version of reality i think as well

potteryshed · 24/08/2022 09:03

I unfortunately had to listen to it as I went to my friend’s for a cuppa and she had it on.

How much longer is she gonna milk that P&G letter thing? I’ve heard it at least 100 times. It is such a boring podcast, very repetitive, it’s all about Megan, Megan and Megan again. She and Harry need to give it a rest, live their so desired private life and stop bombarding us with all these useless podcasts, books and documentaries.

Everything I know about Meghan Markle has been against my will

AdriannaP · 24/08/2022 09:05

The fire is such a non story as the baby wasn’t in danger. Not sure what it has to do with ambition.

how did anyone imply when she started dating Harry that her ambition was a bad thing. If the press is to be believed the RF wanted her to continue acting even. I believe she wanted to do things that are not compatible with being a member of the RF (like these media deals), maybe in her world view it means they didn’t like her to be ambitious.

potteryshed · 24/08/2022 09:09

@AdriannaP It’s just like when people go “It could have been me” or “this happened just a few houses away from me”. Yeah and? It didn’t happen to you so move on 😂

AdriannaP · 24/08/2022 09:11

@potteryshed 😂😂

SnottyLottie · 24/08/2022 09:12

I’ve not listened to it yet but I’ve seen The Sunday Times and The Telegraph gave it bad reviews. The Telegraph says it’s just another excuse for Meghan to talk about herself and The Sunday Times calls it ‘almost entirely prosperous’ and ‘packed with tinkly music and vapid chat’.

It’s kind of putting me off wanting to listen to it to be honest.

LondonWolf · 24/08/2022 09:12

I think you're right and I think Meghan confuses ambition with entitlement in that she would say her ambitions were thwarted whereas it seems clear that she feels entitled to do and have things which are not in keeping with the BRF as an organisation.

Maireas · 24/08/2022 09:15

I don't know why Harry made a cameo appearance, just for Serena and Meghan to put on the mock accents?
Anyway, I'm sure that there are women whose ambition has been derided and thwarted and I'd like to hear those stories.

susan12345678 · 24/08/2022 09:28

this does make sense. It must have been frustrating to suddenly have a huge international profile but not be able to capitalise on it in the way she wanted, on social media, for example

@susan12345678

But the RF weren't frustrating her ambition, she just had to follow the rules of a constitutional monarchy which had existed for hundreds of years

While we don’t have a monarchy here in Ireland, we have a president head of state whose role is like queen. The Irish presidents wife said that Ukraine and Russia should try to make peace on the offical presidents website. There was a huge uproar as she was using an official role/website to make personal comments and it was seized on by the Russian ambassadors

you have to follow the rules that allow the monarchy and elected government to exist side by side. If you can’t do that, they have to cut you free.

AdriannaP · 24/08/2022 10:26

@Ohnonevermind I think she didn’t understand that tbh and thought she would have a massive platform and do lots of exciting projects and deals (philanthropic and commercial). But opening youth centres in Blackburn and being the patron of a dogs charity was probably not so appealing in the long term

notanotheroneagain · 24/08/2022 10:31

Gosh, I can't believe the people on here are actually parents, minimising what happened to Archie. Pathetic.

Archie was brought up in conjunction with Serena saying how she had to spend the night with her baby, but still had to go out and perform the next day.

Harry came in as he and Serena had their destinies decided since they were young, and really had no say about it.

No, the Archie story was hidden because of what it would look like. People will wonder who put on the heater, how did it get tripped etc. etc.

Don't care what the Torygraph or Times (which is very much tabloid like these days) have to say.

It was welcomed by everyone else who doesn't have an agenda on the couple.

notanotheroneagain · 24/08/2022 10:33

Let me try your strategy here too.........
where is your proof that Meghan did not want to engage in some charities.

Because I see nothing glamorous about helping children with special needs and poor health, unemployed women etc.

Ohnonevermind · 24/08/2022 10:50

@Ohnonevermind

Meghan didn’t bring it up on her Oprah interview.

She’s in need of new material, one trick pony comes to mind everytime she wheels out the p&g story now especially as her dad admitted he faked a response from p&g

RichardsGear · 24/08/2022 10:52

Who are P&G?

thereisonlyoneofme · 24/08/2022 10:58

Continuing to mine the goldmine that is the RF, she would be nobody otherwise, must be thanking her lucky stars daily.
I had no opinion on her previously but its all a bit tiresome now

thereisonlyoneofme · 24/08/2022 10:58

And nothing happened to Archie did it, apparently he wasnt in the room

Ohnonevermind · 24/08/2022 11:01

P&G is proctor and gamble. Meghan has been using a story of how she got an ad changed by writing to them about how it depicts women. She usually finds a way to use it in her speeches

It turns out her dad faked the response though from the company but she’s still going to run with it.

She’s mentioned it so many times, it does make you wonder why she doesn’t have more stories
