I am just interested to see your opinions about the royal family. No judgement. And it can be from any royal family, not just the British one.

@Readinginthesun you’d have be pretty thick to go to a top school and not get good grades.

Riverlee · 23/08/2022 19:45

@Readinginthesun Thats so true. I remember years ago Gary Lineker (or someone famous )being upset as his child didn’t get into uni, after going to private school.

Harry ??

Readinginthesun · 23/08/2022 19:49

I was at an excellent private school and I can assure you that not everyone received top grades .

Whowaswrongg · 23/08/2022 19:58

@Readinginthesun yes I think it’s pretty clear Harry isn’t the brightest.

I know not everyone gets top grades at excellent schools - but you are much more likely to get them if you are.

As they generate tourism, they really should be made appear on the balcony for ten minutes daily. Get dressed up and stand waving on the balcony every day at 12 noon, just after the changing of the guards.

There should be a minimum of four of them every day. They can decide themselves which four as long as they each appear at least once a week.

The tourists can take photos and return the following day for a different four royals so they get their money’s worth.

Err Harry

Whowaswrongg · 23/08/2022 21:49

@KentuckyDerbyandJoan yes exactly, Harry!

I didn’t say it was impossible to go to an excellent school and not get good grades, i said you’d have to be pretty thick.

"I don’t think anyone has a role like the Queen! At least other career women get 4 weeks annual leave and the chance of a private family holiday. She has had none of that."

You got to be joking! She has had as much privacy as she wanted to - the tabloids don't touch her - and most of her "career" has essentially been waving and socialising. She's had quite a lot of time for her horses, dogs, shooting animals and Balmoral, less so for her children Hmm

FFS really? People who leave private schools without a Uni place are all thick?
Given how many children with additional needs attend private schools, purely to get the best chance possible knowing they will get not get too grades, I think this is a pretty fucking offensive statement

Whowaswrongg · 23/08/2022 23:56

@JustAnotherNameChangr I nearly added obviously negating circumstances like that but I assumed no one would clearly miss the point and find it ‘pretty fucking offensive’

But yes, I don’t think getting top grades at a top school means you are overly intelligent. And I speak as someone who had both.

Whowaswrongg · 23/08/2022 23:57

@JustAnotherNameChangr and there’s a huge difference in bog standard private schools and the country’s top public schools and the expectations and benchmarks.

I think this would be brilliant and really would generate tourism.

RenegadeMatron · 24/08/2022 02:42

I am amazed that so many people are so willing to do lazy journalists’ thinking for them.

@Homehermit never returned to the thread, and didn’t provide a thought of their own.

Why engage with the topic, if the OP isn’t even willing to?

Buckingham palace and all other royal homes turned into homes for the homeless and refugees.

That would bring the tourist flocking! Who doesn't want to visit a hostel for the homeless.....

I'm reading And What Do You Do, by Norman Baker. I urge everyone to read it. It's really well written and has really opened my eyes. The Queen has manipulated loads of Laws so that she has more income and pays less tax. They treat their staff appallingly. It's really quite shocking.

Well done, I've read it. A complete eye opener.

Sadly, royalists just would not read it. I have offered it up many a time on here, it gets ignored.

Novella4 · 24/08/2022 16:03

Yes ' and what do you do?' is an eye opening read and factual.

I've recommended royalists read it - at least then they'd be educated about what they support

Funnily enough I've never heard back

Frezia · 24/08/2022 17:41

I agree, that book shocked me. I think even most non-royalists have some grudging respect for the queen, well after this book I don't see how anyone could! She's exploited her position many times to benefit herself and family at the expense of the taxpayer. All the while pontificating about duty and sacrifice. What a load of bollocks.

whoamitojudge · 24/08/2022 18:01

I think Kate comes across as very smug ( sorry to offend anyone but that’s my opinion)

BadgerB · 24/08/2022 18:30

a Lizzie AIBU, she's found out her son was involved in a massively seedy world, he's had sex with young women who did not consent,

But the young women DID consent. They would not have been "successful" in Epstein's terms if they didn't appear keen.
Yes, it was tacky, but it wasn't rape, unless PA knew they were trafficked. And he is rather thick....

Novella4 · 24/08/2022 18:36

@BadgerB
Ever heard of grooming ?

Novella4 · 24/08/2022 18:41

I'm disgusted by the downplaying and mealy mouthed excuses and exceptionalism I see here for Andrew's behaviour .

It's a small minority but it is persistent .

Appearing keen because you bloody well better act it, and free consent, aren't exactly the same thing.
