As the other thread has filled up I wondered if anyone would like to discuss the book here. I’m listening to it on Audible now.

I would really like the two of them to take a stand against flying constantly to give awards and make speeches etc. The fact that they choose private jets, even for short trips, is even worse.
If Harry is going to bang on and on about the environment whilst doing nothing personally to support his views, he just looks like a hypocrite of the first order.
Supporting charities in the US would be a much better option simply to reduce their carbon footprint. They could make speeches etc on zoom for the UK charities.

This.

Or, come here and also 'reach out' to the family he has hurt so very publicly.

But nope. Its almost as if he wants to rub his family's noses in it.

Flying across the Atlantic (let's hope commercially unlike his jubilee jaunt) for a social/charity do is ridiculous. Do it in the US. He is so tone deaf.

One of the things that is curious about this, with hindsight, is how 10 small children walked up the aisle with Meghan (and then disappeared off to the left while the boring service stuff went on 😀) but at the end of the service when the couple came out of the chapel where they had signed the register for their procession down the aisle, they only had 8 attendants. George and Charlotte were no longer with them in the procession (and so, weren’t in the chapel where the register was signed either, as that’s where they all came from).

In contrast just a couple of months later when Jack and Eugenie were married at the same chapel, George and Charlotte walked up the aisle with the bride, and then later walked out of the chapel right behind them following the signing of the register, and then were behind the couple as they walked down the aisle.

It’s a small thing, that obviously drew no attention at all at the time. Looking back however, and knowing the allegations (to be clear, not the ones recently made on this thread that I’ve honestly never heard before! And the counter-allegations, lets be fair..) that have been made, it’s certainly interesting.

I think that detail IS very interesting. Kate's mother hen instincts kicked in.

LaMarschallin · 17/08/2022 08:16

Has it ever been said on here (or anywhere) that Meghan punched Charlotte in the face?

I tend to catch on these threads every few days or so, hence could easily have missed a deleted post, but that's one of the weirdest things I think I've seen on here. And that's saying something.

notanotheroneagain · 17/08/2022 08:22

I'd imagine if it is lies she'll sue. Doesn't Bower say he can verify everything in the book.

You mean the same way she sued Lady C ?
Bower was begging for a lawsuit, though he knows she can't do anything about it, as most of his wording is how he feels.
She is unlikely to give this chancer any validity, she will pay him with dust.

Agreed. Nobody has ever suggested that Meghan has done anything like that.

notanotheroneagain · 17/08/2022 08:33

As for the crying story.

Yes, what has Kate got to do with someone else wedding and telling them what to do.
MM said this was the beginning of one of big things against her. We had panelist like Carole Malone shouting that this woman made our future queen cry. It was deliberately put out to smear Meghan - months later while MM was pregnant.

KM can't respond my arse.

Where is the 'royal source' and the palace denial, like they did with botox and hair extensions. Where is William with his threats to Tattler. At some point he even made Harry read out a statement that he was not bullying him.

A quick message from the queen/pc/ William would have stopped all of this.

notanotheroneagain · 17/08/2022 08:38

As for Harry flying private jet.

That is the whole point of travelyst. To advise those who have to fly with how they can reduce their carbon footprint. When Elton John tried to explain how they planted trees etc, he was shut down.

His mistake was not getting William to say it, because it goes in one ear for the media and his haters.

LaMarschallin · 17/08/2022 08:40

I thought the only way that Kate was supposed to have interfered was to raise concerns over Charlotte's outfit.
Surely that would concern her

LaMarschallin · 17/08/2022 08:42

Oops!
That posted before I'd put in a ?

The ones who did follow Meghan and Harry down the aisle had a small tussle between themselves as the walked down, it was very funny!

Mrsorganmorgan · 17/08/2022 10:19

I am OK. Thank you all for the very kind thoughts!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2022 12:24

(The flowers/apology) was confirmed. If it hadn't happened, Kensington Palace would have planted/leaked a denial

Well, it's a point of view I suppose, but since we're often told we should assume nothing from H&M's refusal to sue/comment/whatever, it seems a bit ironic to claim that KP's similar choice is somehow significant

FWIW I've never commented on the alleged "wedding row" beyond saying we've no way of knowing what, if anything, happened. Certainly there have been claims, but then I'd no more take KP's leaks on trust than I would H&M's own - mainly because they've all been shown to lie like they breathe

Oh, I see. So same story. How can two grown, supposedly intelligent women, make such a big thing out of this? I hope queenie knocked their heads together.

Kate has never mentioned it.

SueSaid · 17/08/2022 15:06

ajandjjmum · 17/08/2022 14:57

Yes. Dignified silences as should be about he said/she said private matters. I wonder if Harry looks at the his db and thinks about following his lead a bit.

antelopevalley · 17/08/2022 15:20

Let's hope he does not follow his father's role model and do a televised interview where he complains about his parents parenting.

Roussette · 17/08/2022 15:36

ajandjjmum · 17/08/2022 14:57

No, the MSM did it for her. She didn't have to.

He's already done that didn't you see Oprah? Nothing like airing one's very onesided dirty laundry is there and yes before anyone pipes up with But Fergie Did It, the difference is with Harry he has gone on at length about his privacy being breached, he makes out he's better than that, he loathes the gossipy tabloids yet he's releasing a memoir, let's hope he respects everyone else's privacy but i wouldn't count on it.

If anyone's giving out medals for hypocrisy he should be front of the queue.

Roussette · 17/08/2022 15:36

Nobody 'had to', and yet Meghan still talked about it with Oprah.

Samcro · 17/08/2022 15:55

Meanderings · 16/08/2022 22:09

Interesting. Still doesn't explain the apology note and flowers. Why would you apologise to someone who ~allegedly~ bullied your child. I would be LIVID 😥

because its made up bullshit,
I can't belive anyone really believes this crap

Roussette · 17/08/2022 15:58

ajandjjmum · 17/08/2022 15:52

Nobody 'had to', and yet Meghan still talked about it with Oprah.

Nobody had to leak it to the Press and for the likes of the DM to run with it for days and days, it was endless.

Kate doesn't talk to the Press, much like the Queen doesn't. They don't have to, they just have to tip off the MSM

ThighMistress · 17/08/2022 16:08

What was all that business about Kate going shopping and not taking Meghan? I can’t remember the origin of that story.

I think the crux of the matter is probably that for whatever reason Kate was frosty to Meghan. Perhaps it was genuinely that she and William thought Harry had made a hasty choice, or that she rubbed Kate up the wrong way, or that she is a bit insular and cold to outsiders. Who knows.

I am surprised that posters who purport not to be very interested in H&M and wag their fingers at others with a “nothing to see here” admonition know so much about H&M’s goings on, with information at their fingertips about their charitable endeavours, what they said, when they said it, M’s friends, her career, yada yada. And I can’t imagine that pre-Meghan they were Harry superfans. He’s still immensely privileged and unworldly. He hasn’t morphed into Gandhi.

Roussette · 17/08/2022 16:18

@ThighMistress
Good post of yours.

Yes, I remember the shopping trip. At the time MN was awash with negative threads about Meghan and the vitriol was far worse than now. I had a view then, the same one as I have now, but I knew - at the time - to post my view on the shopping trip nonsense, would literally mean a roasting from all directions, so I kept it to myself. At that point it was all about self preservation for me!

I think Kate should have taken Meghan shopping, made a big effort, tried to include her more. This was a woman from another country (same language but poles apart!) who knew no one much over here, catapulted into one of the most unusual families in the world, why would a soon-to-be SIL not do this? I know I would if someone joined our family from another country, I wouldn't think twice about it. There, I've finally said it! Grin

Serenster · 17/08/2022 16:22

Yes I would too, Roussette, save for the fact it’s very easy to forget that at the time that all happened,Meghan wasn’t joining the family. She was just another girlfriend - the third girl that Harry had taken to Botswana in fact.

If you are a senior member of the royal family and was fiercely protective of my and my children’s privacy I don’t think there’s a snowball’s chance I’d be overly welcoming of a brand new girlfriend off the bat.

Remember that Catherine was pregnant when H and M announced their engagement and it is well documented that she suffered horrendous HG . I doubt very much she felt like doing very much plus she had 2 other young children and yes she has staff but she and W strike me as pretty hands on .
I did read that Camilla and Sophie tried to offer support but were spurned .

SueSaid · 17/08/2022 16:25

'I think Kate should have taken Meghan shopping, made a big effort, tried to include her more. This was a woman from another country'

Well apparently in their engagement interview the Cambridges has been amazeballs, it only went horrible wrong when Harry wasn't allowed his own way.

Can we please stop with the 'She should have taken her shopping' stuff. 2 intelligent women I'm sure can bond over than shopping.
