As the other thread has filled up I wondered if anyone would like to discuss the book here. I’m listening to it on Audible now.

Rather a slur against HumanFirst Afghanistan too

I'll repeat this because it matters

Good to see them in the press today following their usual M.O. - making a donation in return for an award/nomination for an honour….

Yup

Roussette · 11/08/2022 12:35

KatharineofAragon · 11/08/2022 12:32

Yup

I think you need to look a little closer to home.

They have been supporting Afghanistan since the Taliban took over... this charity and AghanAid and Women for Afghan Women charities, but hey .. why not cast aspersions on them and HumanFirst Coalition.

This is utter rubbish.

So by the same token you would say William got his BAFTA nomination for Earthshot via his chairmanship ?

I also noticed this rubbish spewed about from racists, who believe that a black organisation has to be to be corrupt !

Get a life !

🙄

Serenster · 11/08/2022 12:55

Yes, they sound like a very worthy organisation, absolutely But one that most people would never have heard of. Until today, when they will get worldwide publicity that any fledgling charity could only dream of, and could never afford to buy … unless it’s bought by handing out an award of course to a celebrity donor. It’s a win-win.

I side-eyed BAFTA giving Prince William an award too, you’ll be delighted to know 😂

Still rubbishing them then. Ok.

I am sure they would not just be picking Archewell because they are 'celebrity donors'. AfghanAid and Women for Afghan Women has been prominent with Archewell since the Taliban take over. They have always had an interest, it's not a one day wonder. Everything will have been considered, donations very welcome I'm sure... no different to any charity.

But to say they bought this award by donating is really unpleasant.

Ohnonevermind · 11/08/2022 13:02

Having spent the day yesterday fundraising - only with a raffle and bucket 🤣at a local festival, I find the whole fundraising and awards side rather bemusing

I worked in finance and we used to giggle at the marketing and sales teams permanently heading to awards ceremonies (they weren’t that great 🤣) . It was all about promotion on both sides and being seen and photographed and hopefully headhunted.

Writing a ‘generous’ check on behalf of a child and getting an award seems rather strange but I’m not in that space, so perhaps like other industries it’s par for the course. @Roussette did I imagine that you worked in this area, perhaps you can enlighten us ?

it seems ‘promotional’ but the charities win - they’ve raised 2.5m in total since inception and this will bring more publicity and archewell wins too as it’s plastered all over the internet about how generous they are.

Are you referring to HFC here ?

Your ignorance is mind-blowing .

Nice trolling of a good organisation to show your hatred of the Sussexes is unhinged ! 👏

Roussette · 11/08/2022 13:06

@Ohnonevermind

You're not imagining anything. I was heavily involved in a well known Charity for 10 years. But it could not have been further from the award ceremony, celebrity donor type of charity, so I have no knowledge on how that works.
Having said that, we did have a new Centre opened by a very nice slightly famous person and she did compliment me on my coffee and walnut sponge!

Serenster · 11/08/2022 13:08

Honestly the personal insults are completely unnecessary, and say a lot more about you than me.

Funny how pointing out the bones of what is clearly very successful PR collaboration is a slur/ignorant/unpleasant. You may be unaware of how these things work, but don’t assume everyone else is.

StolenWillowTree · 11/08/2022 13:10

ajandjjmum · 10/08/2022 21:27

I haven't read that the stroke was faked, nor for that matter, his heart surgery.

Comparing Meghan and Kate's visits to memorials of tragedy - the notable difference is 1,500 miles!

I hope that Harry is happy - genuinely.

Thomas Markle faking his heart problem was in all the newspapers, because he was papped getting McDonalds right after he claimed to have had surgery. The press coverage was so intense he ever felt the need to release "hospital documents" which had no hospital stamp on them and looked to have typed in word and printed on a home computer. Hardly anyone even paid attention to his "stroke" since he was sitting up looking around while on the stretcher being rushed to hospital, and somehow managed to call the paps (who were inside the hospital bay with him) so they could be there in time to see him rushed to hospital.

Funny how Meghan haters always know every tiny negative rumour about her, if someone makes a single tweet they know about it, yet anything negative about the white royals or Meghan's white relatives it could be all over the press and the response is "Never 'Eard Of It!!"

Yes, the bullying and made staff cry allegations were clearly faked. Funny how not a single staff member has actually claimed that Meghan bullied her, it's all third hand from Jason Knauf and the staff members he claimed had been bullied asked him to retract the allegations he made about them.

Of course factually William and Kate have gone through far more staff than Harry and Meghan and some of their former staff actually have done interviews complaining about them (like the woman who Kate fired during the woman's honeymoon) not to mention the endless tabloid articles when they first moved to Anmer about Kate being a nightmare to work with and Carole dominating the household and ordering everyone around.

This thread is just hate and lies for no reason.

StolenWillowTree · 11/08/2022 13:16

Serenster · 11/08/2022 12:17

Can you prove that the donations Prince Charles accepted were the proceeds of crime?

He is proven to have accepted money from a Qatar dictator who has publicly announced that he funds terrorism groups.

Funny how Meghan haters constantly bring up things like Meghan wearing tights, nail varnish, scented candles, as proof of her evil wickedness yet things like rape of a trafficked teen (Andrew), taking money from dictators who support terrorism (Charles), being found guilty of physically abusing a child (Samantha Grant), threatening the press with false arrest (William and Kate) all get either defended or simply stonewalled.

Well they live in the USA where all sorts of people are allowed to carry guns. Here in the UK not so much

Yet it's the UK where Neo Nazi terrorists were CONVICTED of plotting to kill Harry for being a race traitor. Yet another fact that Meghan haters simply stonewall and pretend doesn't exist whenever it's mentioned.

I genuinely, genuinely think Meghan haters are sociopaths.

A black organisation? What? Surely it’s run by Afghans?

I was referring to the other award they received from NAACP.

Serenster · 11/08/2022 13:24

It is an established fact that Prince Charles accepted a charitable donation in cash from the former Prime Minister of Qatar, yes. Everything else, including the spin all of you are putting on the donor/the source of the money/the legality of it is all supposition.

And as for Qatar itself, the UK government regards it as an important trade and investment partner (more than a £40billion investment in the UK economy). Expecting a Prince Charles to not accord a key representative of Qatar the appropriate treatment seriously fails to understand his role.

Thing is people come on here pretending they have 'researched' and are 'objective' , when they have only been looking at negative stories peddled by rags.

Where has anyone said that? I assume you can post a direct link to where someone has explicitly said "All Arabs", otherwise you will make yourself look very very racist and a liar.

No. It's on the record fact that Charles broke all advice and protocol to meet with the Qatar Dictator alone in a hotel room, refused to permit any kind of advisor to be present, and accepted suitcases full of cash.

The Tory government sell arms to oppressive dictatorships that execute anyone who criticises them and engage in torture, human rights abuse and genocide, knowing those weapons will be used in genocide and attacks on civilians. The excuse "but the Tories work with war criminals and terrorists too!" is pretty shocking.

But what would you expect from people who think wearing nail varnish is evil but rape, child abuse and human rights violations are just fine and dandy.

notanotheroneagain · 11/08/2022 13:36

People are miffed by the allegations of billionaires getting knighthoods and citizenship in exchange.

These are specific cases, with specific people.
