Did anyone else notice that Catherine was not wearing her wedding ring at the Commonwealth Games? Seemed strange.

I suspect she only wears it for official engagements- it's massive and valuable.

Maybe she just forgot to put it on with the rest of her uniform?

Pretty sure if they were getting a divorce she wouldn't announce it with ringless photos in the DM Grin

Book a trip to Specsavers op

LondonJax · 05/08/2022 12:04

I've been married for twenty years and don't remember the last time I wore my engagement ring - and I chose it so it's not like I don't like it! I never go out without my wedding ring though.

What's the big deal about her rings though? Maybe the engagement one feels heavy or tight? Maybe she just didn't want to wear it? My friend has been married for years and neither she nor her DH have rings of any sort. It's not like an ankle tag with GPS attached!

She really isn’t that thin, we are just used to seeing people who are overweight. I bet her BMI is healthy and she’s very toned.

Virtually everyone in the media is slim. So we are not used to seeing overweight people in the media. Unless you mean you see Catherine socially?

Maybe it is at the pawnbrokers, what with the cost of living and all.

EllaB22 · 05/08/2022 12:10

OP I do see a wedding ring however I get your point generally.

Whilst a lot of people in day today living take off their engagement rings it is unusual to see her without hers on. Even when she does the running / hockey engagements she wears the ring - its quite hard to miss!

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 05/08/2022 12:23

Catherine is thin, not slim. Just because an average size person would look large compared to her doesn't mean she isn't underweight.

Antarcticant · 05/08/2022 12:25

It might have gone for re-polishing. Or her fingers might have thinned - they do lose fat with age even if you stay the same overall weight. I used to be an O on my ring finger but now I am an L, at the same body weight.

Legomania · 05/08/2022 12:27

Op do you really think that Catherine would send 'subtle' messages to the media via which rings she is wearing?!

My BMI is 17 (due to severe health problems) and a typical size 6 swims on me. I've stood next to Kate and in the photos she makes me look like a beached whale. She was noticeably far skinnier than me. She is terrifying emaciated in person.

Having said that, this thread is goady. She's clearly wearing her wedding ring and who cares. She wears the big blue ring everywhere even scuba diving so it's probably a replica and the real one is in a vault. So probably the replica is being cleaned or just got mislaid or something.

antelopevalley · 05/08/2022 12:29

@Legomania I do not know. Diana famously did. But Catherine does seem a very different type of personality to Diana.

Or maybe she doesn't wear it for engagements where she might have to handle sporting/mechanical equipment - she strikes me as someone who diligently removed all jewellery for Games, in case of injury. Or maybe she's conscious of internet types going on about the 'optics' of sporting expensive jewellery at times of national financial uncertainty. Who knows. But I suspect Catherine Middleton is the last member of the Royal Family who would telegraph her inner turmoil through the medium of gnomic jewellery.

antelopevalley · 05/08/2022 12:32

I genuinely did not see the wedding ring and object to being subtly called a liar. I have actually spoken on here before about my sight issues. But I zoomed in on the photo and still could not see anything before I posted this thread.
If I had seen it and decided to post, the title would have been about her engagement ring.

Good grief, get a life.

SirenSays · 05/08/2022 12:39

Why does it matter though? I don't wear my rings much atm

Motnight · 05/08/2022 12:41

That's because she is having an affair with Tom Cruise and her engagement ring fell off during a Top Gun 2 reenactment.

HTH.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 05/08/2022 12:41

Kate doesn't strike me as the type to send messages via her jewellery as the Queen supposedly does with her brooches.

Would be funny if she wore one of those 'Fuck the Tories' pendants though.

youngestisapsycho · 05/08/2022 12:41

Does it even matter... why have you started a thread about it? I rarely wear my wedding and engagement rings 🙅

DillDanding · 05/08/2022 12:44

’Catherine’ seems so obsequious when she’s always been Kate and always will be.

BeanieTeen · 05/08/2022 12:45

Maybe she lost it? Maybe she forgot to put it on? Maybe she’s having it resided?
I’ll be honest - if I was a ‘public figure’ then the last thing I would do if my marriage was on the rocks would be to advertise it to nosy parkers for speculation by not wearing my ring 😂 it would stay firmly on my finger! I don’t know why people read things into this sort of thing.

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 05/08/2022 12:46

I don't wear my wedding & engagement rings around the house and so frequently forget to put them on when I go out.

I'm a royal watcher and it isn't something I could get wound up about. Might be away for cleaning/repair/resizing.

WhyDoesItAlways · 05/08/2022 12:56

Fleur405 · 05/08/2022 11:36

Maybe she took it off to do the dishes and forgot to put it back on….

It's possible but more likely she dropped it down the royal lav while scrubbing the U bend.

moose62 · 05/08/2022 13:36

Poor woman...people always find fault with her whatever she does...but not wearing a rather flashy engagement ring really takes the biscuit.

FlipFlops4Me · 05/08/2022 13:50

I'm in my 60's and DH and I have been married a looooong time. I've never worn an engagement ring or a wedding ring. Why would I? I don't like jewellery. We know we're married to each other. I don't care what anyone else thinks.

antelopevalley · 05/08/2022 13:57

Why is it relevant what other people do? Catherine does usually wear both rings.
