Why did Harry and Meghan walk in alone?

I have had a very busy weekend so have only been able to catch snippets of the jubilee weekend events but noticed how Harry and Meghan walked into the service together, seemingly after everybody else, including those sitting in front and behind them?
Why was this? I understand why they didn't walk in with the serving royals but it seemed strange that their entrance stood out so much.

Anyone else thing MM looks rather broad in the stern ?

I don't think what she wore did her any favours. It made her look flat and wide, made her waist look non-existent and flattened her boobs.

But I regularly think this when I see her in formal outfits - her clothes often seem ill-fitting, creased and don't suit her figure. That white boxy dress she wore on stage recently was absolutely awful on her (I forget what the event was).

I think Meghan looks beautiful when she's less formal and in more casual attire. She always seems to get that right and I just feel that it's more natural for her. Many of the formal outfits she has worn really don't do her any favours, which is slightly mad as she has a lovely figure. She does pull off the hats very well though.

I've thought this about quite a few of her her outfits for years - and just in case of doubt, it's not Meghan-hating. I just think she could be getting much better wardrobe advice. I even thought her wedding dress didn't fit very well/looked awkward.

People have been far too invested in the M&H thing this weekend.

How about it was the queens last jubilee and her first without her beloved husband and she wanted to have her grandson and his wife there and have a chance to meet her great granddaughter?

I imagine M&H went straight back to the cottage as their children were there and they wanted to get back to them.

It's done and dusted and probably a wonderful way of deflecting The attention from the fact prince A wasn't anywhere to be seen.I don't think anyone is buying the Covid story.

On quite a few American gossip sites, there have been stories that Harry and Meghan are under a lot of pressure to get footage for their Netflix show and they need to get footage of them interacting with senior royals. Apparently, this is one reason why so many members of the royal family were very careful to ensure there was no footage of them talking to the Sussexes. It may be all bollocks though, but it's a possibility.

I would be amazed if the Netflix crew was with them this weekend at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, etc.

No, the Netflix crew wasn't allowed but they can use footage from the BBC etc. in the documentary. apparently

I think to avoid photos of other royals glaring at them like the ones from just before they left with Kate and William looking daggers

What a silly, hateful thing to say.

Back to the OP..... I would think they walked in on their own to give them their moment in the spotlight. Harry is still our future King's son and it probably rankled to be sitting with the 'others'. Their behaviour was impeccable throughout but I haven't seen much recognition of that.

This is so deranged, it’s hilarious! Grin

You haven’t seen any recognition of the fact that they didn’t misbehave?!

What were you half expecting them to do? Scream like fishwives? Tantrum on the floor? Or just some low level glaring at everyone…?

😂😂

TigerLilyTail · 06/06/2022 06:13

It was very different from the last 2 appearances though.

It's hard to forget how awkward everyone looked at Westminster Abbey and I thought Harry looked very uncomfortable at Phillip's funeral.

I wonder when they will next return to the UK.

But somebody just below said W&K were looking daggers at H&M - is that not behaving badly - or is it just not true?*

They are also very different occasions. So I wouldn't expect any of them to be cheery at the funeral -

Did they get booed as they walked out?

PinkTonic · 06/06/2022 08:19

If M & H were given "their moment" deliberately by the Queen, it would have been properly co-ordinated instead of them having to clamber past people to get to their seat.

I agree but the idea that the Queen or event organisers or indeed anyone at all except M&H thought in terms of ‘giving them a moment’ is laughable. It was a religious event in thanksgiving for the Queen’s long reign, not a publicity opportunity. Two future kings entered in procession with a load of clergy, they didn’t parade down the aisle alone so everyone would get the best view. It was orchestrated, as was the pause and pose on the way out, in head to toe haute couture Dior including the gloves!. See also making sure there was a window photo at trooping the colour and winding down the window of the bullet proof car. So much for security concerns. I hope it was worth the reputed £160k it cost and that Netflix paid.

queenofarles · 06/06/2022 08:43

I wouldn’t call the small chat they had with Zara and Mike, as warm interaction, from the footage it’s like any other small talk you have with strangers waiting for their car, you can see them pointing as if saying is that yours or ours? .

and about getting Netflix content , can the Queen demand that any pictures be kept only for personal use and not shared with public?
I imagine she has loads of photos with her many great grandchildren but we never see any. Only the sort that is officially released.

MaulPerton · 06/06/2022 09:44

Didn't she say she'd never set foot in the UK again? So, could be tomorrow, if given half the chance.

Forinara · 06/06/2022 09:48

It was interesting that the Queen chose to wear Angela Kelly (of all designers) on the first day. Message loud and clear 😂

Oh do calm down, dear. You know there is a huge difference between behaving impeccably and misbehaving but perhaps you just wanted to be rude to someone who isn't anti H&M.

@Billandben444
Both my messages are in response to pp. I just couldn't do the quotes or copy for some reason. My response is the last paragraph

You are not doing them any favours by highlighting just how very low your expectations of their behaviour are!

Do you think they had to be pre-warned, like Louis, or did they manage it all by themselves?

The Queen has been wearing Angela Kelly since 2002 and now wears her designs most of the time. Ms. Kelly is her chief dresser, chooses all the fabrics and is the Queens confidante. What is your point?

SoyMarina · 06/06/2022 11:55

I imagine Harry found the whole experience saddening.
What a change from previous events (pre Meghan) where he is seen in great sprits talking and laughing with his relatives.
Now he just looks sad (and pathetic).
It's his own fault but he will probably beging to blame and resent Meghan for the mess.

Youaremysunshine14 · 06/06/2022 11:55

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a Netflix doc camera set up in the car – one of those small ones like they use on shows such as Top Gear for when Paddy etc are driving along – to capture their conversation as they travelled through the crowds. Behind closed doors I'm sure it was fine, but they had limited chances of getting personal footage from any of the big Jubilee events and this car journey was one of those.

I thought he looked fed up when they got to their pew and had to squeeze past his cousins to sit down. There's also a new photo from them landing back in LA where he looks really melancholy (but is probably just jet-lagged from travelling with small children). It must be preying on his mind that his gran is very frail now and he might not see her again.

But this is what he wanted – not to be recognised as a working Royal. He put himself down the pecking order.

Basilbrushgotfat · 06/06/2022 12:01

I'm guessing the fact they walked in alone is to do with complicated rules of precedence etc and go mark the fact that although they're no longer working royals, Harry is still the son of the heir.

I didn't see footage of the arrivals so can't comment on hesitations or clumsiness etc but I would think the reason they were sat in the middle of the row was to make sure they were surrounded by family rather than feeling isolated on the end of a row. Looked really thoughtful to me.

Don't understand the fuss about meghans gloves??

it seems that Meghan was wired up and that the bothers had been informed of it.
