Why did Harry and Meghan walk in alone?

I have had a very busy weekend so have only been able to catch snippets of the jubilee weekend events but noticed how Harry and Meghan walked into the service together, seemingly after everybody else, including those sitting in front and behind them?
Why was this? I understand why they didn't walk in with the serving royals but it seemed strange that their entrance stood out so much.

Now that is a fair comment. Plain and simple remarks on aspects of body shape are not shaming and the things you mention are correct. It's when it tips over into being presented as some kind of moral defect, or outright class based insults that it becomes a problem imo.

The conversation about the Dior coat started just like that though. It was about a couture garment which clearly didn’t fit properly. What happened then was a pile in rushing to Meghan’s defence which became a lot more personally directed and aggressive on the part of those defenders. Not “I disagree”, but “I disagree and you’re ridiculous”, and it deteriorated from there into unpleasant personal attacks. I don’t get it at all, there’s thread after thread on here discussing and critiquing royal fashions and no one bats an eyelid but the minute Megs gets a 👎all hell breaks loose. It’s fine to say high necks don’t do Eugenie any favours but woe betide anyone who says Meghan looks better without a belt.

sunglassesonthetable · 09/06/2022 15:08

No Pink Tonic you've got that wrong.

Roussette · 09/06/2022 15:14

I don't suppose 'she's thick round the waist and only deserves to be dressed in clothes from Florence and fred' helped

I've never seen anything remotely like that about Eugenie

sunglassesonthetable · 09/06/2022 15:26

Read on back Pink Tonic. It's all there in black and white.

It's boring to chew over it again but it's right there. You can try and make it about posters overreacting about a belt or something but there are much worse comments there.

I don't think I ever seen anybody's body being described as " so far from the norm" as to make their clothes unwearable for anyone else. Or " there's only so much you can do..." to make Couture fit MM. And of course there's more. Vile.

Read back.

No Pink Tonic you've got that wrong.

Well from my perspective this is where it starts to go downhill

Bully for you! I thought it looked really great. Not sure what you mean about the fitting being bad and I used to work in medium to high end fashion. Slate me for not knowing anything if you want

the thread is like Swiss cheese no though so 🤷🏻‍♀️

sunglassesonthetable · 09/06/2022 15:38

Well it gets much worse than that.

But please don't paint a picture of a few criticisms of MM leading to a bunfight.

sunglassesonthetable · 09/06/2022 15:40

Some posters seem to have a seriously bitter axe to grind against MM.

Even comparing how good their figures are in comparison. God alive.

Don't tell me thats just about fashion.

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/06/2022 15:49

Don't tell me thats just about fashion.

Exactly. The conversation about her ensemble started with a nasty comment about her body that said nothing about her clothes. It was body shaming pure and simple.

As for her outfit, I thought it was very elegant; the only thing that was a bit off was the storm flap which poked out a bit. I especially liked the bracelet length sleeves worn with gloves. Very Jackie Kennedy White House years. And as for the "tea" dresses worn by younger women that one poster commented on; many of those were a bit ordinary and definitely not couture.

Such an awful thing to say, Bully for you!
With an exclamation mark too which was showing light-hearted tone but of course it's terrible 🙄

If you think that's the worst on here I suggest you read the thread again with the supermarket clothes comment and much much worse. But bully for you! come on ...really? 😀

Roussette · 09/06/2022 15:56

Me too. I thought it was a bit different and she looked good in it and as a PP said, I too think it was a nod to platinum with the colour
Personally, I not a fan of tea dresses, I used to wear that sort of thing decades ago so what Meghan had on appealed and it would go with my grey hair 🤣

queenofarles · 09/06/2022 16:06

The supermarket thing just flew right over my head , I had no idea what F&F meant, thank you all for clearing that up😅.

ancientgran · 09/06/2022 16:15

I also liked Zara's bright outfit that has had criticism, not on this thread perhaps. I think it suited her, she seems like a fun person who could carry it off. I liked Mike Tindall's comments when he posted a picture of her with Eugenie who was in bright orange and referred to them as Starbursts.

Bit of lightheartedness to lighten the gloom.

queenofarles · 09/06/2022 16:32

Mike Tindall at the Royal box came prepared with a bag of snacks for his Daughters. Grin

DFOD · 09/06/2022 16:36

It’s totally weird - like walking into some Wild West bar room brawl when you only dropped in for a lime and soda.

Disproportionate over-reaction to obvious baiting- polarising, goading, alienating on both sides and the rest of us collateral damage and caught in the cross fire when we just want a low key chin wag.

On other threads people
are sensible enough not to inadvertently fuel and reward the baiters by engaging with them - they soon slither away. It’s a bit like parenting ignore the bad, reward the good etc. Pretty effective rather than a race to the bottom with OTT sniping.

Yes. Incredible.
Those who want to criticise Meghan in every which way want to do it unfettered and without push back.
It's been like this on MN since she appeared on the scene.

Sorry, life's not like that, opinions on a forum are free and allowable.

sunglassesonthetable · 09/06/2022 16:49

Loving this idea that on other threads, that people don't engage with 'baiters'.

How do you know if a baiter is a 'baiter' or just someone you don't agree with?
@DFOD

But yes, I get this 😁😉
'Twas ever thus on MN.

The tone is a give away - the language used is OTT. Don’t rise to it - it’s deliberately done to agitate.

It’s a trap to get a reaction.

Don’t get drawn in and drawn down because then you just get in the way of them looking bad.

Listen to Michelle Obama.

MO is great. And obvs we'd all like to go high. But c'est la vie.

That's what I thought as well -
@PinkTonic you conveniently skip over the numerous unkind and nasty posts from @Forinara and only seem to notice the ones defending Meghan. Maybe you don't think they were unkind .. I'd say the pile on came on as soon as @Rousette posted something that wasn't against Meghan or her clothes - before that and since it's insults aimed at Meghan.

CathyorClaire · 09/06/2022 20:33

H & M paid to keep it as their base in UK

If you mean the much vaunted £2.4m repayment to the taxpayer, it magically included eighteen months rent.

Someone somewhere got done up like an ill-fitting coat Wink
