Due to them booing the so called 'royal' William & the national anthem yesterday at the F.A. cup final. It made my day :)

He's not a so called 'royal'. He's an actual member of the Royal family so he's a Royal. Nothing Liverpool fans do surprises me. They have the most horrible fans in the Premier League and are widely despised. Famous for the massive chips on their sloping shoulders.

How am I backtracking? My post does not mention a hatred of William. I dislike them all equally. They lack intelligence & integrity. William & Harry failed to obtain first class degrees despite all of their privllege. That silly thicko Diana couldn't even pass one O level. It's insulting to the average UK resident to see how these useless individuals get to live a life of luxury for doing nothing whilst the people that pay for it can't pay their bills.Anyone who thinks that this is okay must also lack intelligence & integrity.

You referred to William and the National Anthem and referred to him, rather bizarrely as a “so called” royal- and the you appeared to want greater equality in the UK as a whole……

Are the royals the only people that description fits- do you have concerns about other wealthy people who don’t work particularly hard?

I've obviously offended you with my opinion & you are retaliating by trying to anger or upstage me. That's fine if it makes you feel good, fill your boots! However, you are trying to put words into my mouth & that's a waste of our time. In a perfect world capitalism would not exist but for now we are stuck with it & the misery & unfairness it brings about. Therefore I would settle for simply ridding our country of an unelected head of state & the scrounging thickos clutching at her apron strings, it's immoral & is not cost effective.

As I thought.

Also the Band of the Irish Guards who playing at the match were spat on by Liverpool fans. Charming behaviour given that the scousers spend do much time boasting about their Irish heritage. You must be so proud of them!!

That so called chip may have appeared after being accused of murdering their own fans for 30 years. Man City fans booed during the minutes silence for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster last month so much so that the referee had to cut the silence short. Where was the outrage then? How dare they boo Prince William but booing a silence for 97 dead men, women and children? Crack on.

Well said OP. I'm very proud of my home city: on this particular occasion.

Ashamed to have "UK" on my passport though, but fuck all choice in the matter for as long as people are going to defend the indefensible.

You do realise you are free to leave if you wish, don't you?
I've heard North Korea and China are very welcoming!!

Serenster · 15/05/2022 20:15

Man City formally and swiftly apologised for that though @hels1987 , saying that they were extremely disappointed with the actions of some of their supporters and sincerely apologising to all those connected with Liverpool Football Club. At least they make the effort to let their fans know what is and isn’t appropriate.

Total idiots and made me glad I am not from Liverpool

A small but vocal minority carry on like its still the 1980s make me ashamed to inhabit the same city.

Something I saw in twitter earlier resonates: "offended by everything, ashamed of nothing".

Rather ironic that the British press were inciting the public to boo H&M, and what they got were boos for their golden prince. They also said Will cried, can he imagine what it's like to Meghan.

But no worries, good ol William is protected as always. The BBC commentators artfully dodged mentioning the boos and a player refusing to shake his hand. The DM were also quick to change their headlines in his favour.

Nevertheless, I have enjoyed football fans talk about his booing.

The people who are claiming William cried are doing so on the basis of a photo taken of him in 2016 at the Taj Mahal , so that’s utter nonsense as I’n sure you know (and if he had done so, THAT would have been the paper all over the papers, not the clickbait of it being him being booed when it is quite clear that it was business as usual as far as the Liverpool fans were concerned).

They also booed the B positive choir (all of whom suffer from sickle cell) singing Abide with me so no … I struggle to see why they are a source of pride

Well said x

Awesome, never heard that one before 🙄. Why should I, just to satisfy a load of nonce lovers who made their fortune from slave trading and exploiting people and wonder why they get booed.

How about they pay reparations, repay the taxes they dodged and then they leave the country, not me. They can sell the palaces, rent a Tardis and fuck off back to the 18th century.

I'm a scouser born and bred but found it embarrassing. There is a definite hatred here for the establishment after Thatcher tried to finish the city off and after Hillsborough so you do see banners at the football saying "We are not British, we are Scouse". I have to say I don't agree despite having a healthy dislike of the powers that be and I hate the rudeness of booing people.

See, this annoys me. Geoffrey Howe (who I only discovered today was at one time an MP on the Wirral) suggested managed decline, Thatcher dismissed the idea and sent in Hestletine to start regenerating.

I've no time for politicians of either red or blue but this sustained misrepresentation of facts boils my piss. So does the "scouse not English" nonsense.

Greydog · 15/05/2022 20:27

My mums family are all from Liverpool, and I worked in Liverpool for years. Most of the people I know/knew would be horrified at this. That said, I don't much like Lpool supporters, as they were the only supporters that I ever had bother with in all the years of going to football matches. Spat on, lack of knowledge, and violent. Takes a special type to threaten a 7stone female for wearing the wrong colours.

The responses of those who are in agreement with the booing is just reinforcing exactly why they are despised.

SnottyLottie · 15/05/2022 20:44

They boo all authority figures, they’re notorious for doing it. William is President of the F A and so has a little introduction and does the presentation ceremony, so he is the person that they will fixate. I believe this is the first time Liverpool have been in the F A cup final since he has become President? I wouldn’t take it personally unless it starts to happen at all future ceremonies with all football clubs. They’re one of the least liked football club in the country and this is just one of many reasons why people don’t like them (no offence to any Liverpool fans out there, I don’t have a personal problem with you guys but lots of family and friends do!).

But if you don’t like the Royals, you do you! Life would be pretty boring if we all liked and disliked the same things 🙂

sashagabadon · 15/05/2022 20:45

on balance I’d rather live in a country where you are allowed to boo the monarchy than the many countries in the world where you are not. We are very lucky to be governed by people we are allowed to boo! But equally I can also think it is very rude and disrespectful to do so.

At the risk of boiling your piss even more, torque, what you said is also a misrepresentation. Heseltine had to persuade the witch, she didn't send him there out of the goodness of her heart. To her, Liverpool was just another northern town to throw to the wolves.

I'm more furious about the way the locally elected Labour representatives have treated the city tbh. Selling land to their developer mates cheap, mostly for developments that fail to get built properly, which has had the knock on effect trashing the reputation of the city with international investors, and most recently the fact that they've cost the city an extra £16 million in electricity bills for not sorting out a decent rate because an council officer went on holiday, whilst screeching about having to make £millions of cuts "cos of the Tories". Local Labour party has fucked over the city equally as bad as the tories/establishment.
