Thomas Markle coming to UK for jubilee

Flopbopandpop · 25/04/2022 22:29

So Thomas has announcement on GB news just now, they are going to pay to help bring him to the UK for the queen's jubilee and would love to meet Charles and Harry / Megan if they turn up, should be intesting. He would dearly love to meet anyone from the royal family as he feels they have much to discuss. I hope it goes well for him.

The Sussex’s have flown home.

The Sussex’s have flown home.

What a fiasco. All that way and that that expense for a couple of hours. Why didn’t they attend the other events? Things must be really be frosty.

Arnaquer · 06/06/2022 06:36

Not sure whose decision it was for them not to attend any other events.
Their non attendance will cause more speculation about the current states of relations.
It sad they weren't at the concert or the pageant. I'd have thought an ideal opportunity to mend bridges on both sides.

Gilmorehill · 06/06/2022 06:57

No need for any speculation. The jubilee was amazing. The RF are doing very well without Harry and Meghan.

Forinara · 06/06/2022 09:03

I think they have already built up the storyline for Keeping Up With The Sussexes : we flew in, we were snubbed, it was awful, we could not stay a moment longer in that cage, we cut short our trip, we jetted out again etc. etc.

Yes, this exactly. More fodder for the awful book and Netflix .
Harry glowered the whole time practically.

Arnaquer · 06/06/2022 11:54

I think sadly you might be right.

JemimaPuddlegoose · 06/06/2022 12:55

Oh please. They paid a brief visit to their gran to celebrate her special occasion, then went home. Like any normal family.

The crowds cheered them, and they evidently got on perfectly well with the family they spent time with (and obviously the Queen adores them). What more do you expect them to do?

The amount of bitterness this poor woman induces simply by breathing is insane.

Well it's not as if Meghan picked her nose in St Paul's so all the nasty nitpicking is a bit odd. I thought she looked lovely and she's bought her children to see their great grandmother which was cool

Sorry to disappoint, but despite the best efforts of gossips, it seems Rose Hanbury and Kate are still friends in real life - she and her husband attended Kate’s last pre-Covid birthday along with others of Kate’s real-life friends. They were pictured attending church with her on the Sandringham estate on her birthday weekend.

Do you not think he was flowering then? I don’t really hate them no. I find the psychology of it fascinating. I’m also disgusted by the way they’ve behaved, but hate.. no.

LilythePunk · 06/06/2022 13:36

Glowering!!

It's always the ones who spend every single day (some of whom have done this literally almost every single day since the wedding or even before the wedding, often spending many hours every day) obsessively monitoring and nitpicking every single thing Meghan does, who find ways to twist her every movement into a negative, who claim not to hate her.

Interesting.

No, not a stretch at all - almost none of us (other than the staff at No.10…) has had an active social life from early 2020 to early 2022. The fact is, the last time Kate had a public birthday celebration, in early 2020, Rose Hanbury was an invited guest. Given the affair rumours started in early 2019 (Giles Coren’s joke tweet was sent in March 2019) there’s no basis to say that they are not friends.

What a fiasco. All that way and that that expense for a couple of hours. Why didn’t they attend the other events? Things must be really be frosty.

The press had already informed people that they wouldn't be attending most events, and really only the service was confirmed, as it was known the press would try to focus on them and how they were with family members and it could overshadow the main message of the weekend events.

They attended other events, but in the background. They clearly met up with family members outside of the thanksgiving service - there are images of them playing with family children. They were seen/photographs at a window watching the fly past (I think it was that part.) It was reported that they visited the queen in private, away from the screens too, with their children. And that others were invited to a birthday celebration for their youngest child's first birthday. They were quite likely at other events, but inside and/or not in public viewing, so as to not have the media focus on them - which we all know some of the lesser press/social media journalists would have been told to do!

I suspect, what you really mean (and what a lot of the SM/red top type press mean)is : why weren't they out facing the cameras so I can spend the day picking out what I deem them to be doing wrong and criticise them for.

They came to their grandmother's special event, as invited members of the family by the queen, took part is various aspects of it which was deemed to be respectful and 'behind the scenes' and then went back home - a very normal thing to do.

Port1aCastis · 06/06/2022 14:18

Let's face it whatever the couple did or didn't do the rancid redtops and the professional nit pickers will pull apart and cause a fight in a paper bag.

Not just the red tops either, the absolute vitriol and batshittery in the Telegraph has to be seen to be believed, with extra added conspiracy theories as well. Complete insanity.

kateandme · 07/06/2022 00:37

And if they'd attended the events it would be.why are they there.they aren't working royals.look at them trying to get their minutes of fame.takung over the queens day.meghans wearing white is she allowed to do that, oh hang on..where are there chikdren( sash really we want to no if they're black!).why are we paying for their meal at the dinners, security, rooms.
Kate looks so fearful of big American Meghan.wht isn't she flying back to her dad...etc rtf etfuckingc

Mosmuma · 07/06/2022 08:07

It's because Meghan is not white - there! Name 1 black or mixed race woman in the UK who is liked. There's always something nasty said in the comments. It the fear of the "unknown". This forum shouldn't allow these posts.

Nicola Adams
Kelly Holmes
Jessica Ennis Hill
Alison Hammond
..just off the top of my head

None of that stops racism existing, or means that these women haven't experienced it either. But it helps not to make absurd statements. It is not impossible for a black or mixed race woman to enjoy public popularity. Meghan herself has many fans. I'm not one, but they do exist.
