So Thomas has announcement on GB news just now, they are going to pay to help bring him to the UK for the queen's jubilee and would love to meet Charles and Harry / Megan if they turn up, should be intesting. He would dearly love to meet anyone from the royal family as he feels they have much to discuss. I hope it goes well for him.

Looks like most of the royals went to the lunch, major, minor, working and non working eg Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara etc.
Given Harry is suing the home office, it would have been difficult for them to be there with Boris, Priti etc

Thank you for posting this picture. People just love to hate for no reason.

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 07:31

@Mosmuma

I’d seen loads of people do it, including Zara and Mike Tindall (outside the church, not
sure if inside too)

if you read my posts, I asked why do people do it, that I didn’t understand it. I didn’t list anyone who did it.

You’ve jumped to the wrong conclusion that it’s an attack on the Sussex’s, it’s a personal opinion on handholding and PDA’s while attending events in a professional capacity,

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 07:49

I’ve complained in the past about Theresa May being pulled around by Donald Trump, I’ve asked why is it a thing before and asked the same again yesterday.

i think the tension was Harry related, Harry clearly felt tense too judging by his facial expressions.

They were once very close, it must be hard to be in such close proximity with the world watching their every move and expression.

They were probably both relieved to go in separate directions after the ceremony and decompress

Harry and Meghan visited Charles on their last trip and visited him again yesterday. The only people Harry and Meghan appear to not want to interact with are William and Kate. It is becoming patently clear who has been the problem for Harry and Meghan.

Would you rush to rebuild a relationship with a brother who briefed the press against you and your wife with all sorts of lies and who then helped the Daily Mail in an attempt to destroy your wife? With a brother like William who needs an enemy?

William is always incandescent with rage. Rage at his own mediocrity.

The Queen is making it patently clear that she loves her grandson Harry and his wife. She is wise enough to also know that without them being seen to be part of the Royal Family, the monarchy will look rather dull and ancient.

There is a gulf between William and Kate. I genuinely believe Kate is a lovely person as Meghan said. Without William jealousy of his brother, the two women may have been fabulous friends. It’s not the women that are the problem here. It’s William.

Stop putting Meghan and Kate against each other. William is the cause of all this mess.

I don't get that impression at all with regard to William. He has been held responsible for Harry for so many years. I remember William getting the flack when Harry turned up in Nazi uniform. There were a lot of comments about William should be checking in on Harry. Does anyone else remember the joint interview where Harry revealed William's personal, private mobile number live on air as a joke? Harry has mocked William a lot in the past. William must be so sad about the breakdown in their relationship.
I have always had a soft spot for Harry because he lost his mother early. I brushed over him cheating in A Level Art, his use of racist terms to describe army friends, the naked pool parties. I thought it must be difficult for William living with an 'I'm only joking' younger brother when he revealed William's phone number. It must still be galling to hear Harry talk about popping back once a year to check that his grandmother has the right people around her. I think a lot of older siblings who care for elderly relatives will have identified with the annoyance with a distant sibling who does no day to day care popping back once a year to broadcast his caring attitude. Harry is perhaps the equivalent to a Disney Dad. Perhaps a glitzy grandson?
Never complain, never explain has served the Queen well for seventy years. The Duke of Windsor had a huge following until his fascist sympathies were revealed. Winston Churchill was a fan of his. He was glamorous and confident. In contrast, his brother was shy and awkward and stuttered. William needs to follow the lead of his great grandfather and grandmother and keep his own counsel. He is a good man

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 10:39

@Why2why

I’d have to disagree, Harry looked pretty grumpy and angry yesterday from many of the photos and footage yesterday.

I have to agree with a lot of what you said however, I do think William and Kate could have done a better job welcoming Meghan into the fold, especially as Harry took on that role and befriended Kate. Kate felt comfortable around Harry and eventually just became part of the family. This wasn't reciprocated by William or Kate. I feel like they failed Harry. Obviously we don't know the full details but in the past there were many pictures of Harry with Kate + William just spending time together.

I don't think William (and possibly Charles) wanted Meghan for Harry. It's possible he is the one who made the comments about the baby - although I would like to think for someone as young as he is, he would not be so out of touch! Then again their recent trip to the Caribbean speaks volumes and the painting in their home when the Obamas visited!

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 11:33

@Mosmuma

Its disappointing that you are speculating that William made racist comments without any evidence.

Kate with good reason is guarded and entitled to take her time getting to know someone as the wife of the future King. We’re not privy to all that’s happened behind closed doors but Omid Scobies book and Oprah Winfrey’s interview show she was right not to rush into an intimate friendship.

I agree with this
Would you rush to rebuild a relationship with a brother who briefed the press against you and your wife with all sorts of lies and who then helped the Daily Mail in an attempt to destroy your wife?

After the OWN network interview - which raised some very important issues briefly and dedicated a lot of time to airing the grievances of the couple against Charles, William and Kate about a lack of money, time and effort - I can't imagine that William would be quick to forgive and rebuild a relationship with Harry. Meghan's comments about her encounter with Kate, when Kate could not respond, might be difficult for William to forgive. After so much with Diana in their childhoods it seems that William is quite protective of Kate. Hopefully the relationship between the brothers can rebuild over time with lots of space and opportunities for Harry to explore his areas of interest away from the royal family. Simply judging from the footage of the event, it seems like emotions are too raw for that to happen yet. Some members of the royal family may also have been concerned that private conversations with H&M would be leaked to the media as we found out about the details of the phone calls following the OWN interview. Both couples seem to have done some leaking in the past. Hopefully space and time helps all members of the family heal.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/06/2022 11:49

I’m guessing no-one wants to risk their conversations appearing on a Netflix documentary or on another Oprah interview

Bearing in mind the upcoming book, that could be a reasonable choice - though it cuts both ways as the palace aren't above leaking what suits either.
And if it's true that H&M weren't at the lunch, let's just hope they don't consider it a slight which can only be responded to by yet another ill judged interview

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 11:57

Perhaps we shall move towards an entente cordiale for the brothers.

The palace will probably be waiting to see what’s in the book first and what is said in any publicity tours and Harry will be waiting to hear palace briefings post Jubilee

I would think it would take time as William
and Kate are far more cautious than Harry and Meghan.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/06/2022 12:25

As future king and queen I'm not sure they have much choice, especially given the hash so many others are making of things. If the monarchy's to have a future in today's world somebody's got to be made to look like the good guys, which may explain the endless and very careful curating of their image

That image may or may not reflect reality, but fair play to them for keeping it up most of the time

@lameasahorse

I think separation is a better word than hostilities and as Harry is no longer a senior working royal it’s far easier to achieve.

Gilmorehill · 04/06/2022 12:39

Also Kate had two small children and a third on the way around the time M arrived. It’s pretty hard to make time for new people arriving on the scene in those circumstances.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/06/2022 12:45

It seems clear that William has no desire to make things up with Harry

I don't know either way, but let's not forget that none of us are privy to what's going on behind the scenes. For all we know either or both may have offered what they perceive to be "olive branches" and may or may not have liked the response

And then of course there's the upcoming book, which on previous form may have muddied the waters still further even before it's published

lollipoprainbow · 04/06/2022 12:46

I'll be honest I was only looking forward to seeing Meghan and Harry at St. Paul's. I was hoping we might have seen a thaw in relations between them all and would love to have seen them all come out together and stand on the steps and chat etc but it wasn't to be. Why does Camilla always look so anxious and shaky. Watching her next to Charles sitting there she looked worried to death !!

Iloveychildrenandmydoggie · 04/06/2022 12:47

I personally think that H and M have really messed up and I really liked both of them. Breath of fresh air etc and I did think, long before the public fall out that W and K could have been more demonstrative with public support for them , particularly Kate !!
I also still cannot understand why H never met M father prior to their engagement Find that very odd and he was definitely set up to fail by the press, H and M should have been more protective.
So on balance I think both parties are equally to blame based on what I have read and heard about all of them!!

the80sweregreat · 04/06/2022 13:04

I was surprised that Harry and Meghan were not invited to the Guildhall for some refreshments yesterday , sky news had a camera at the door after the jubilee service at St. Pauls and there appeared to be a lot of people coming in : maybe they declined an invitation or were told that they couldn't go ? It did seem a bit odd considering they had gone to the church service and everyone needs a drink and some food etc after such a long morning there. Boris Johnson was drinking a large glass of water. It's thirsty work!
It may well be a seen as a snub , unless they turned it down themselves?

That’s a very good point actually. The lunch was for the whole family, not just working Royals.

How do you know it’s not the other way round?

Ohnonevermind · 04/06/2022 13:25

Perhaps they just wanted to get back to their young children. Didn’t they say they didn’t want nannies/staff like William and Kate so I’m not sure what arrangements they have in place for their children’s care.

i think there was relief on both sides that they didn’t go. Baby steps.

I think Camilla is well aware that her days are numbered until she is Queen.
Not a prospect she relishes I think. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Charles gets upset at
seeing so little of Harry when he is here ,
meaning she has to do lots of soothing and placating. It must be tiresome and a strain.
