Nessie?
A cannibal unicorn?
A secret alien society?

I also would like to know what kind of skills do the right people he is ensuring she has around her have.

link to the BBC because this is a serious business.

it is her advisors, the grey men.
crazy situation

OverByYer · 21/04/2022 07:05

Still chortling that Harry is worried he will ‘burnout’ from working at home, by ‘ trying to make the world a better place’
he does hold himself in high regard.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 21/04/2022 07:05

foolish man, Harry

Mumsnut · 21/04/2022 07:13

Why on earth didn’t he just say ‘it was lovel y to see her/them, I hope I can do it more often’? He could have added the details about tea, and how well
je and HM get on, and left it at that. Job done, no issues

JanetheObscure · 21/04/2022 07:26

What a peculiarly incurious interviewer that was.

PeaceLurking9to5 · 21/04/2022 07:31

His body language was so depressed i thought. He looked really sad when he was asked if states was home now. He stuttered, said what a great community it was and said it was home "for now".

Id say he'd love a do over. Not because he feels he was wrong about any of them, but because he realises he can't shame them in to having his perspective. They have their own.

Yes, chortle, really harry.... im a single parent to two teens, one with school refusal, the other needs a lot of emotional checking in. I work full time, our team out work is under manned so doing it all at home and doing it all at work 🙃 for 31k per annum!!

Harry, you're not going to burn out.

A conduit, not an interviewer

Because that wouldn’t have been enough for Netflix ! To keep the money rolling in he has to perpetuate the idea that he is close to HM and her confidant.

I think he’s got a lot of time to think about things and is aware that the Royal machinery always moves on regardless. Same as for many ex pats his inner feelings about life back at home are very complex. That’s without a giant family rift with this closest surviving relatives and the loss of his mum to deal with on top of that and bringing a long series of legal cases as a couple.

Harry said of the Queen: “She’s always got a great sense of humour with me and I’m just making sure that she’s protected and got the right people around her.

……. During the interview, Harry said he felt his late mother’s “presence” in everything he did, and talked to his son, Archie, about “Grandma Diana”. But he appeared to avoid questions about his father, Prince Charles, and brother, Prince William. Asked if he missed them, he replied that he was focused on those involved in the Invictus Games.
“That’s my focus here. And when I leave here, I get back and my focus is on my family, who I miss massively,” he said, referring to Archie and Lilibet.

I've no time for Harry lately but I think this might have been a throwaway comment that's been blown up. Do you think he was just talking generally, not making a statement she needed protecting from the people around her? I mean who wouldn't want to protect their obviously frail 95 year old GM, that's a natural response surely.

Hoppinggreen · 21/04/2022 08:45

Its utter bollocks and just designed to cause controversy and stir up interest ahead of the Netflix docco that they have coming out.
I am not a MM hater but I do think that everything she does is very carefully planned, staged and scripted and I think that extends to everything Harry does now too

Moodycow78 · 21/04/2022 08:49

Tbh though I've only heard bits of it, can't quite bring myself to listen to him whittling on about how hard life is 🙄 although I get the impression he's not happy where he is, the type of company he keeps these days are just as vapid, false and self serving as the people he left in the UK, out of the frying pan into the fire. He should never have left the armed forces, that seemed to be his happiest time, now he has no purpose, well except for orchestrating world peace obvs darling.

DowningStreetParty · 21/04/2022 08:53

He could just have just wanted to make a statement that he was a protective grandchild because he feels a bit guilty or sad about leaving his wider family to move to LA. If he loves his grandmother (and it sounds like they’re really close) and he doesn’t want to live near the rest of them, he might think they’re not good people to live with for his grandmother too. It could be as simple as that.

He has never lived with his grandparents so it’s probably not about physically protecting her security wise. Maybe he feels her physical care and protection isn’t great because she’s had falls at home or something.

The Queen has presumably been grieving her husband, (and him his grandfather) without having Harry there physically until this point so it’s not about hugs and emotional support. Likely they talk a lot on the phone though. Loss is likely particularly magnified for him, having lost his mother.

Harry maybe wanted to ‘modernise’ the royal family when he thought he was staying ‘in’ (or maybe feels it would protect her if they did that now he is ‘out’)? So maybe he believes her taking part in a Netflix documentary that he controls editorially would do that - and she’s been advised against doing it (obviously!)

Maybe he feels she needs protecting from the British media that he distrusts so much.

Maybe now he’s fallen out with the government over his family’s police protection, he wants to take over Royal security himself?

Protect her from accusations of racism?

Given how non specific (yet very incongruous in a short superficial interview) that ‘protect’ comment was, it does feel a bit like projecting his own issues on to her maybe. But we’ll never know. Could just be a deliberate teaser for his new book!

nettie434 · 21/04/2022 08:53

I assumed it was aimed at Charles and William. Netflix are losing money and they will want that documentary to attract lots of viewers.

PierresPotato · 21/04/2022 09:00

He needs the drama. It's painful really.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 21/04/2022 09:27

I think the burnout comment is referring to mental burnout
He has actually signed up to the thing he says he was running away from
Welcome to the Truman Show Harry!
He sounds like a poor job applicant blathering on when he is being interviewed- he should stick to strutting about with his entourage

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/04/2022 12:12

GetthatHelmeton I seriously doubt Harry has to curtsy🙄

upinaballoon · 21/04/2022 12:45

Harry might be afraid that Angela Kelly has too much influence over the Queen, and needs to be defended from it.

It is perfectly possible for a grandson to get on with his shrewd granny when they meet but for her not to be supremely impressed with him, on the quiet.

Georgeskitchen · 21/04/2022 12:49

I believe that when Charles becomes King that Andrew will be banished completely. No appearing at Royal functions etc.
As for worse stuff about Prince Harry I think pp should enlighten us

TheVanguardSix · 21/04/2022 12:52

Why2why · 20/04/2022 21:25

And Prince Harry is quite mischievous. I think he likes riling up the British press. He plays them like a fiddle and must be having a good laugh. Great publicity for him and he gets to confuse the hateful British public, who will debate and speculate, and rant and rage.

It was a curious comment but deliberately so.

For a guy with a sponge masquerading as a brain, you give him way too much credit here.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 21/04/2022 13:05

“the hateful British public“

surely we cant all be hateful - there must be one or two nice people 👍

I think that second paragraph is spot on.

queenofarles · 21/04/2022 13:33

at first I thought it was a strange thing to say ,
did she use her bag to signal distress on one of their zoom meetings ?

I’m sure it’s just for the American audience they love cheesy stuff like that, seeing he sat for the Today show is proof enough !
