Prince Harry not attending Philips memorial

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

But Harry made an announcement. He didn't need to do that - a polite message to HM the Queen would have done the job.

Well given the Queen is no longer going, I think he probably is trying to avoid further fanfare from his presence alone.

I do hate how it’s become Harry is the bad one while William is a saint, when actually it appears that they are both flawed adults who don’t always make perfect choices. The vilification of Harry in the media is ridiculous IMO

As has already been said it’s the Commonwealth Service that HM isn’t attending . If she doesn’t attend PP’s Memorial Service it will be due to frailty not petulance.

So Harry's spokesperson released this now to take heat off William? Not sure I get the logic.

The press are hyping it up, someone(a few papers) probably asked him, and he answered. They are now blowing it up as a story.

His spokesperson issued a statement saying he wasn’t coming . Absolutely no need to , so long as HM and organisers knew.

Your rant doesn't make much sense. You are complaining that he is saying, he is not coming to a big event, that would obviously draw attention to him. You are also saying he could come come incognito, so why would he announce he is coming if it's secretly ?

The press are just angry because if he does come secretly, they won't be able to make money selling his photos and pumping up articles from 'body language expects' etc.

Well he’s a private person now so it’s a family matter.

He might make his own life a bit easier by going no comment on everything, though.

No, Harry was. Stupid and bad taste, but we've all done stupid things as youngsters. There are rumours of Williams dressed in an inappropriate costume (can't remember what), but I've never seen photos.

No, Harry dressed as a Nazi, although Robert Lacey was quoted as saying that William helped him pick out the costume. William went as a lion and the party they were attending was themed as “Colonials & Natives”. So they both come out of the episode extremely badly, to say the least.

Harry hasn't grown up if anything he is worse, especially with his "I'm not racist I have a black wife and a black friend" attitude

'Someone probably asked him'. So we don't know that. Could have been the spokespersons' choice.

On that point, I believe the Sussexes said a little while back that only statements from their official spokesperson should be trusted. So who is that? I've just looked at the stories coming up about this and they all say 'the prince's spokesperson' but don't give a name. Has this person been named? Because how do we then know who is officially able to speak for them?

It's very disappointing IMO that his privilege comes with being grandson to the Queen & DOE and aside from the event for his GF he's missing he hasn't thought to come over anyway to see his grandmother with his daughter who is named after her, he talks about these security concerns but in reality he's Prince Harry he knows he's safe here if anything because of what happened to Diana.
I find it a shame that he can stroll around Hollywood & attend glitz & glam awards ceremonies but can't come to visit his his 95 grandmother a Queen who has dedicated her entire life to her duty, who has recently battled losing her husband and illnesses and above all that who loves him dearly.

its funny that most of those defending harry can't do so by defending him but by pointing fingers at other members of the family.

Your statements make no sense. It's Harry who says he is not coming. If he only wanted to record for Netflix, he would have come over with his own security either way.
