Prince Harry not attending Philips memorial

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

Do you honestly think people are going to be lying in wait on the off chance that H might travel past ??
Pretty sure he will travel by private plane ( paid for by Netflix) and will have his own security.

Only if they knew he was there. Why would he publicise the fact that he was there if he was worried about security? Especially if he was on a private visit to his grandma (who is at Windsor anyway which is not far from the airport)

One of my friends met Princess Anne and her husband on a Scottish island a few years ago . The press managed to miss that too .

Yes but he would still be able to do it discreetly if he so wished.

It would be hard to do it so discreetly now that everyone knows he is in Europe. Don't really know how they can go Machiavellian on it with all eyes on him like this.

When he is in the US, he could possibly have visited HM under the radar as no one would expect it, but that would need to be kept between a handful of people, and frankly if her PA cancels meetings she had already arranged with H, I doubt this is possible.

KP can keep secrets about W&K, but they would run so fast to the tabloids if it's regarding H&M, as palace source /JK has already proven.

No one cares about Anne, and her people don't seem to leak anyway.

Have no security to and from the airport - since it's not a work related visit.

As pp have said, that wouldn't rule out security. The current RAVEC position is that they'd give full security when deemed needed and they would decide on a case by case basis. Harry wants it on a blanket basis for absolutely any and every visit or activity he might embark on in the UK. I very much doubt it wouldn't be provided for a visit to Windsor Castle. Though the Netflix crew might then have to wait outside.

On a point of agreement though @notanotheroneagain, it's awful though sadly not surprising to see the Met's racism on display again. They are evidently a force where deeply unpleasant individuals, to put it mildly, can be allowed to flourish.

No one is disputing the fact that Invictus is indeed a worthwhile and valuable initiative, people are just, quite understandably, wondering if Harry will go and see his grandmother whilst he is so close by and why he feels safe in the Netherlands but not here 🤷‍♀️

It is indeed a fantastic initiative . I am not aware of anyone saying otherwise. It just leaves a nasty taste in the mouth that H and M are brave enough to venture to The Netherlands with a Netflix crew ( in other words make money) but going to the tightly guarded Westminster Abbey for a Memorial Service was deemed too dangerous .
And I will say again - they need to drop their titles . As does A before anyone jumps down my throat .

Both Invictus and Help for Heroes and other organisations have welcomed the Netflix documentary to raise awareness and money. Why can't you agree with them?

Andrew yes. No jumping down anyone's throat... he should be dropping his big time. Even if they drop theirs, they will always be known as either Duchess Meghan or Princess Meghan, Prince Harry especially in the US... you have to live with that.

To be honest the 40x40 thing really annoyed me, I'm involved in a lot of professional and student mentoring programmes and it's a real commitment. 40 minutes is not even long enough for the "what do you hope to get out of mentoring?" conversation. It was such a gimmick because she was turning 40. She should just be honest and say it's a 40 minute Zoom meet-and-greet with a celebrity.

Yes I thought that. 40 mins isn’t even the length of a counselling session. To me, they issue lots of sound bites with little substance. Kind of like appearing on a stage and promising a performance, then delivering a ten minute show and disappearing.

Exactly, if you're going to do it, do it properly. 40 hours not 40 minutes. That's an hour a week for approximately 9 months: do-able and valuable.

It was not celebrities as per the people who had volunteered were teachers etc.

As one example I linked, the person helped by donating their time to a nervous driver, helping them get to an interview. Lots of people came out saying they were helping candidates with interviews etc. Some saying they were in touch for more than the 40 minutes. The 40 minutes was just a start for some, to get something going. There were no strict restrictions on anything, so the person who says they will teach JavaScript and other programmes will have an idea how long they need with each candidate.

TBF, and if it happens, all those 40 minutes will add up to hours, and no doubt it sounded catchier and easier to offer, when some might have missed the point and thought "My god, 40 hours a whole working week!!"

It's a bit muddled by the fact that so many of the "offers" on Archewell carry a forename only and no further details as to who the people are, and while the idea's a worthwhile one, it just seems a shame that no reliable evidence has been produced of anything actually happening as opposed to being offered
