It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

Inviictus is happy to have Netflix there.

As are Help for Heroes @notanotheroneagain

twitter.com/HelpforHeroes/status/1511731715022143489

Very pleased.
And awful they have had to combat the M&H hate by asking people over four tweets to be kind.

Chilledchablis1 · 09/04/2022 19:08

Criticism doesn’t equal hate .

Roussette · 09/04/2022 19:13

So you think it's OK that Help for Heroes who really welcome this should be criticised, and have to combat it by asking people to be kind?
Okaaaaay....

What is wrong with watching a documentary about veterans doing inspirational things on Netflix?
I'd watch it. As will others, but my views aren't affected by my views of an individual who started these inspirational games.

Chilledchablis1 · 09/04/2022 19:21

You said M and H hate . That’s what I referred to . Help for Heroes is a great cause .

Roussette · 09/04/2022 19:48

You said M and H hate . That’s what I referred to

If an organisation puts out 4 tweets asking people to stop offensive trolling comments and asks people to be kind... I imagine it is hate. I read some of them. Yuk. Luckily there are far more out there counteracting the 'criticism'

From them...
"we will not accept offensive, trolling comments or comments aimed at our team"

Maybe take it up with them.

Chilledchablis1 · 09/04/2022 20:15

You are misunderstanding my comment . Over and over anyone who criticises H and M is regarded as a hater by some people . My point is that criticising someone is nothing like hating them !
I don’t agree with the nasty comments being made by either H and M supporters or critics of them.
I am sure the Invictus Games will be successful ( I hope so) however I am uncomfortable that this is turning into a money making and publicity event for H and M and therefore detracting from the important aspect I.e. the veterans .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/04/2022 20:17

Inviictus is happy to have Netflix there

Good to have it confirmed, but not at all surprised; if it's well done the piece will help to spread the word, and hopefully encourage even more to join in

I just hope it's not spoiled, either by journalists asking about unrelated things or H&M making the focus more about themselves than the veterans

Roussette · 09/04/2022 20:37

The veterans seem happy enough though Chilled.

p.s. I love a chilled chablis Grin

upinaballoon · 09/04/2022 20:49

What, journalists ask unrelated questions? Grin Grin

Tezza1 · 09/04/2022 21:04

@Samcro I suggest people watch suits rather than listen to randoms.
She was good in it

I've watched "Suits" and I must beg to differ. I've also seen her in some other things, such as an episode of "Castle" and another of "Fringe." In my opinion, the less said about her acting, the better.

AnastasiaRomanov · 09/04/2022 23:05

I tried watching it. It was awful rubbish and she was very mediocre.

Roussette · 10/04/2022 08:02

😂🤣🤣

That is actually really funny, did you intend it to be?

Malahaha · 10/04/2022 09:05
@Malahaha you are talking nonsense.

If Meghan was such a bad actress, how come they kept her for 9 seasons within the top 4 actors of the show.
On top of her money from the show she had her own clothing line at a department store like JL/Debenhams. She also had over 2M followers on IG. She had adverts etc. Her overall earning were estimated above 5M by the time she met Harry.

And how is she too old to play Meryl Streep roles ? You should also know that people of colour do not get MS roles in Hollywood anyway, so don't see what you are gloating about there.

Who are these black relatives she was supposed to collect. Last I checked Doria was an only child to her dm and df together. When the press tracked down distant relatives, they admitted they were so distant, they did not know MM.
The Hollywood crowd were her co-workers, Oprah and Gale attend church with her mom.

As for RF, they complain, explain, leak via 'palace sources' all the damn time.

Very patronising of you to assume Africans lack empathy just because some are poor. South Africans in particular would recognise racism a mile a way.

The staff who were 'bullied' wanted nothing to do with the charge which was brought on by Jason Knauf of KP. Also we will hear this month what the verdict is - judging by how sure MM lawyer was, I presume she is innocent, but the palace is keeping this rumour going of the likes of you.

When did Harry say his security issue was with the paps.

You are correct, you go by reports, and those reports are from the tabloids. Tabloids who have lied over and over about this couple.
I didn't say she was "bad"; I said she was a supporting actress in a Canadian series; she was not a Hollywood star raking in millions, who could choose her projects,

If I said she was too old to play Meryl Streep type roles, that was an error; I meant too young. My apologies.

She is not listed as a PoC in Hollywood; she's certainly not down for black roles.

I am not gloating. I would have wished her well if not for her really bad behaviour.

Why would I say say Africans lack empathy? I grew up in an African-majority country; I'm part black African myself. I love the warmth and closeness of African families, something I don't really find in the white majority countries I've lived in. We have something special that they lack.

Did you know that some of MMs most outspoken critics are black American women? If you think I was harsh you should hear what they say!

Malahaha · 10/04/2022 09:14

@Roussette

'according to' being the operative words. She annoys you. Fair enough. Your prerogative.

There's the odd celebrity that annoys me. I don't go on threads to post about them though, I swerve a thread if I see it's about them because it's just my opinion.

I don't know anything about celebrities; I don't follow them at all and could not identify most of them and have no idea what antics they get up, and don't care. I'm definitely not a celebrity watcher.

Growing up in a colony, though, you can't help being aware of the Royals. I do think they have an important role to play. I admire Queen Elizabeth greatly, and it's a shame she has to deal with renegades in her final years. That's the only reason for my interest here.

Royalty is different from celebrity. I believe Meghan never grasped that.

Roussette · 10/04/2022 09:24

We are very similar then.

I'm not a 'celebrity watcher'. I can't think of anything more brain numbingly boring. I wish I could avoid some of them more, but they pop up on feeds and news.

Chilledchablis1 · 10/04/2022 09:25

In a nutshell .

Absolutely this. 100%.

notanotheroneagain · 10/04/2022 12:12

Correction @Malahaha, MM's father in Suits is black. So far I have seen some dodgy 'hotness' stats as declaring MM as white. At most she would be cast in racially ambiguous roles.
Once more, my point is that women of colour in general do not have the same profile as whites, so that she does not have a catalogue is neither here or there. - as you will know it takes years for the likes of Viola Davies etc. to have a catalogue as extensive as say Emma Stone (note the age and years of acting difference there). You say you are a poc, so I should not explain this to you.

It is not accurate that it's black people who complain the most about MM. There are people who lie and say they are black in order to try invalidated why they are so anti-MM and getting into black people's business. Yes, black Americans have a colourisation issue and some are just republicas, but it's mostly white women who have an issue with MM, you can see in who is always criticising her. On the net people have put together a collage of who they are.

As for the celebrity part. This is how people react when they don't know what to say about her making actively raising funds for charities, rather than swanning about expensive princess dresses, waving and just opening little curtains and cutting ribbons. It's not a 'celebrity' thing at all to organise and foreword a cookbook, design a capsule of working women etc. THis is a model that is actively bringing money to the charity so hit does not close. Evaluating and applying effective strategies for charities is not celebrity and the other royals are starting to learn - if not a bit too late for some.

Chilledchablis1 · 10/04/2022 13:51

The cook book and capsule of clothes for women were very good initiatives but they were a few years ago . As MM has ceased her patronage of Mayhew , is it unreasonable to think that the rest of her U.K. patronages will be dropped ?
What happened to M’s much trumpeted 40 at 40 initiative ? Again , it sounded good but I have not yet seen an update . If it had been a roaring success I am sure we would have heard about it.
If - as I think but correct me if I am wrong- you are referring to Catherine when you talk about expensive princess dresses , then you really need to read up on all the stuff she does , much of it out of the public eye . As does Sophie .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/04/2022 13:57

Evaluating and applying effective strategies for charities is not celebrity

Not in itself, no - it's actually a very skilled role - but it can become all about celebrity if the motivation and commitment of those concerned is lacking

We see this with others in the RF all the time, where they'll relish a headline of "X launches such-and-such", only to turn up (if at all) just for photo ops and leave others to do the work, and considering how many causes H&M have flitted through I do wonder about their commitment, even allowing for Covid

(Notable exception for Invictus here, since not only does it seem extremely worthwhile, but its website makes sense too)

Billandben444 · 11/04/2022 12:16

it's mostly white women who have an issue with MM, you can see in who is always criticising her.

Perhaps some black women don't publicly criticise MM because she's black?

I’m not aware that the ethnic origin of posters is made clear on MN!
Billandben444 · 11/04/2022 12:35

Were we being specific to MN threads? I certainly wasn't.

notanotheroneagain · 11/04/2022 12:35

40x40 was a success. Don't know why you think the British press will publicise any success or positivity of H&M.

The professionals who were involved and did the project have been on SM saying what they are doing, and Archewell also has people attesting to what they did.

Don't know what secret work KM and Sophie do, as far as I'm aware the press, grabs whatever they have been preparing for the last 15yrs, and bigs it up into a revelation. So far, I have not seen much - except maybe charities closing down.

As for H&M flirting through projects. What is that exactly. Their core projects are listed and they work on them as such. Harry in particular with Sentebale, Invictus, Travelyst for years. Due to covid, some things are not practical like the wild animal work etc. The women/girls issues (misogyny/pay gap etc.), feeding the poor, misinformation, MH etc. are still ongoing projects. Other offshoots, need current promotion like vaccines, some will come and go.
