This is according to the DM. Over the withdrawal of his security funding. Shock

@WinnieTheW0rm
Normally (pre-pandemic), 3 to 5 months from filing the application to getting permission to proceed; then from 9 to 15 months from permission to a full hearing.

TizerorFizz · 16/01/2022 18:10

I would imagine talking about it means he wants it hurried up. It’s essentially a day in court.

nottodaybatman · 16/01/2022 18:13

@Chilledchablis1

I think the story was moved because Harry's statement makes the half truths and shenanigans behind this "story" look ridiculous.

Like I said previously the optics and obvious Andrew comparisons probably upset the narrative the RF and MOS were going for.... ooops

PatchworkElmer · 16/01/2022 18:20

We don’t have the resources to allocate to or age citizens- regardless of whether he pays or not, those trained officers are a public resource and I would like them to be deployed in the public interest. There a plenty of private citizens who consider themselves ‘at risk’, he’s not the only one.

PatchworkElmer · 16/01/2022 18:21

*private citizens

Nosetickle · 16/01/2022 18:23

It’s not his fault he was born into the most scrutinised families on the planet, he shouldn’t have to pay for his security if he feels he needs it, it’s sad he should need it but I expect he does and in my opinion it should be provided whether he’s a working royal or not he’s always going to be a royal.

He needs security protection because of the high profile nature of who he is and the death threats and attention he and his wife and children draw when in the UK. He isn't asking the public to pay for it.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that.

But of course that's not a synonym for being able to hire serving police officers for a private bodyguard team

nottodaybatman · 16/01/2022 18:32

@AllThePogs

It worked and it hasn't worked

Those who enjoy a good Sussex kicking have got their fix, so good for them.

But everyone include the anti sussex fanclub have to accept the RF are treating Andrew better and connived with the Mail to release this story now. It is completely brazen.

Also this has trended on twitter and people are noticing the timing and the obvious omission of facts.

StormzyinaTCup · 16/01/2022 18:33

Well, when I looked at lunchtime the comments on that DM article were on 19k, they updated the article this afternoon and reset the comments and it’s now an additional 9k so 28k (and counting) on one article.

The DM probably feel it’s mission accomplished and time to move on.

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 18:36

@WinnieTheW0rm this thread is more active than the Andrew one.

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 18:37

@nottodaybatman I am glad if people are noting what is happening.
I mean it is so obvious when they resurrect a story from September to get people hating on Harry and Meghan again.

BasiliskStare · 16/01/2022 18:39

@PatchworkElmer - I agree - if he and his family are at an event with his mother and brother - they will be protected - given they have very specifically distanced themselves anything else they should pay for but not ask the Met Police or any other police to dilute their resources looking after someone who left this country & was a little unpleasant in some of his comments - that said I do think liaison between his paid for security and the police is a decent ask. & I am pretty sure the Police or whoever protect the Queen and those in line could give Harry a decent steer as to who he could use whilst in Britain.

The Andrew thread is now on Part 3 and it’s Sunday, nothing is going to happen with Andrew in regards to his court case on a Sunday. But I’m waiting with baited breath for the release of the JDs next week Smile

It is obvious that the story was released deliberately. However, Andrew will still need to face the music whether or not Harry gets police protection or not.
They are simply delaying the inevitable

nottodaybatman · 16/01/2022 18:46

@Lampzade

Andrew will have to face the music but RF fans need to accept that RF is actively still trying to manage PR in Andrew's favour by throwing out Harry and Meghan as red meat.

So interesting that RF is expending so much time to protect someone like Andrew...
Far down the pecking order
Embarrassed the Queen
Cringey interview
Non working royal

There can be no argument the RF didn't understand the gravity of the claims against Andrew. The RF know and have decided he is worth it.
Such integrity!

BasiliskStare · 16/01/2022 18:46

And for avoidance of doubt - I do not hate Harry at all - I think ( to me ) he comes across as a little naive & indeed possibly a little petulant - but he has grown up how he has. But he is now late 30s surely he can get some point about what he has done. He was so popular not that long ago - & I think they both could have been. But they chose otherwise - well best wishes to them and their family - but ...... I am sure they mean the best but cake and eating does occasionally spring to mind. That said I hope they find a good way to live as a family without drama .

Probably because Harry's fans keep posting about Prince Andrew on here.

Nesbo · 16/01/2022 19:03

Can someone explain why they don’t want him to be able to pay for this?

I mean, the risk is clear, and there is no comparison to him being a private individual because he literally cannot escape being the queens Grandson.

So what do people want? They would rather his security not be as good, even though he literally wants to pay for it himself?

And if one of his kids were to die, what would be the response then? It was his fault somehow?

Seriously, I given up on this country sometimes.
