@TizerorFizz

The Queen will pay Andrew’s legal fees. Where else would the money come from?

The Crown Estate is huge. Various members of the RF live on it. So they live quietly away from the public. Harry could stay with RF who do have armed protection. All this fuss about Harry - again!

You are assuming he is invited to stay. Last time he came plenty of people on MN were adamant that he should not be allowed to stay on the Royal Estates overnight. The truth is some people on MN want to hate on Harry and Meghan whatever they do. Never come to the UK again including the Jubilee - disrespecting the Queen. Come to the Jubilee - making it all about them.

@Georgeskitchen

He disrespected his grandmother, he accused his family of racism, he slagged off his dad who apparently cut his 36 year old son without a penny. He gave a cringe worthy interview on US TV which was full of inconsistencies while his grand father was close to the end of his life. He doesn't want to be a member of the Royal family yet uses his "Royal status" to get hired for top jobs. Who thinks Netflix et al would have hired Mr Harry Winsdor? Why should Mr Joe Public the UK Taxpayer protect him?
He doesn't want the taxpayer to fund it. He wants to pay for it himself.

I'm a die hard republican and would happily see the monarchy abolished tomorrow.

But I think sadly is right that he and his family will be a potential target if he returns to the UK to visit his family here. A lot of the blame that that sits at the door or the Daily Mail and it's ilk.

He just wants his family to be safe.

sashagabadon · 16/01/2022 10:23

Can Harry and family not just nip back to U.K. see family fly home again without the media knowing. Other rich celebs manage to do this and I am sure he could too. He could fly into RAF Northolt and straight up A40 westbound to Windsor or A40 eastbound to SW1 and no body would have a clue.

sashagabadon · 16/01/2022 10:24

Or helicopter from Northolt to either location

TroysMammy · 16/01/2022 10:25

I read it as he wants free protection when he visits the UK on holiday. If that's the case then either fund your own or don't visit.

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 10:25

@sashagabadon have you missed that last time he came he had trouble getting to the airport? He is talking from experience, this is not hypothetical.

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 10:25

@TroysMammy you are wrong and part of the problem.

derxa · 16/01/2022 10:26

One minute story on the BBC this morning. The news is all about Novak J and parties in No 10.
On a side note the Daily Fail joke is pathetic. All of our major newspapers are biased and print guff.

dittymcdit · 16/01/2022 10:26

@caringcarer

We don't pay security for Andrew anymore. Only those with HRH and are working royals get security. Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie only get police protection if on a job for the Queen. Prince Harry is now a private citizen like Prince Andrew and private citizens don't get police protection. Harry is perfectly able to pay for his own security whilst in UK and there are different grades of security he could hire. Very recently retired police officers from crack security will be more expensive than not police trained. His choice to be one a private citizen. He can't have it both ways.
Andrew is still HRH and his protection is still funded. Do you honestly think they'd remove protection from someone accuse of being a child abuser?? His risk of being targeted must have skyrocketed!!!
Sameformeplease · 16/01/2022 10:26

He's right that his family have a right to be safe, of course.
What he's missing is that so does everyone else

That was my first thought. I totally agree H&M want to feel safe when they visit the UK and they are at risk here for sure. I would like to feel safe enough to go back to my home country also. But I’m not and neither are my siblings. We don’t go back home because we would be very unlikely to get out again. When we meet family we go to Turkey because it’s safer.

I do appreciate that the cost and feasibility of the royals all gathering somewhere between the UK and the US would be tricky and costly but the point is many millions of people can’t go home because it’s not safe and they can’t all hire the police when they want to see family in their birth country.

What is so infuriating to me is that in the Mail comments for the H&M story run into their thousands already while the Andrew stories all have a handful of comments. So the couple who are rightly concerned about their safety are harangued and insulted but the one who had convicted paedophiles as his best mates and who has abused trafficked girls and lied on tv about ever having met her, gets very little attention or outrage.

"Prince Harry is seeking a judicial review against a refusal of the Home Office to allow him to personally pay for police protection when in the UK."

The first paragraph in the BBC article. So I'm not sure where you're seeing him ask for free protection? Confused

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 10:30

@TroysMammy Troy is just trying to whip up hate. It will work on some forums. And like the Neo Nazi sentenced last week, someone will take that further and decide to act on their hate towards Harry and Meghan.
People who whip up hate don't seem to realise it has real-life consequences.

Roussette · 16/01/2022 10:30

If he has any sense he will phone granny and say he wants it to be about her so he will keep a dignified distance.

And be slated on here there and everywhere for not caring enough to come to 'granny's' jubilee. He's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't
Some posters will bang on with their dislike whatever he does.

We don't pay security for Andrew anymore
We do, as of 24 hours ago.

He could fly into RAF Northolt

I doubt he'd be allowed to do that if he can't even pay for armed security with intel over here.

notimagain · 16/01/2022 10:31
@sashagabadon have you missed that last time he came he had trouble getting to the airport? He is talking from experience, this is not hypothetical.
Just for info…

The Royals major, minor, various and others (overseas royalty, VVIPs ) have over the years mostly manage to get into and out of Heathrow by road without creating a stir.

AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 10:31

I would be fine with Harry and Meghan never coming to the UK again. As long as all those who criticise them agree never to whip up hate against them again for not coming to the UK.

Chocaholic9 · 16/01/2022 10:32

@sashagabadon

Can other private individuals pay themselves for U.K. police intelligence/ security when in U.K.?
No, but I'm presuming the private individuals you are referring to weren't born a prince and haven't been in the spotlight their entire lives.
AllThePogs · 16/01/2022 10:32

@notimagain The Royal Family don't leak to the press that say Anne is flying into Heathrow though.
They constantly leak about Harry and Meghan.

LittleBearPad · 16/01/2022 10:33

At the official unveiling of Diana's statute the RF would not provide security from that event to the airport and there was an incidence

What was the incident?

Roussette · 16/01/2022 10:33

I would be fine with Harry and Meghan never coming to the UK again. As long as all those who criticise them agree never to whip up hate against them again for not coming to the UK

Me too.
I don't blame them for never coming here again. When I see the ridiculous hate and lies about them, who'd want to?

Nishkin · 16/01/2022 10:35

Was the incident after the unveiling or after a visit to a charity? I read it was after a charity visit. I don’t remember it being reported at the time

LittleBearPad · 16/01/2022 10:35

I doubt he'd be allowed to do that if he can't even pay for armed security with intel over here.

The repeated use of ‘Intel’ on this thread is making me laugh.

The point is no private citizens can pay for armed security in the UK.

SueSaid · 16/01/2022 10:36

'And be slated on here there and everywhere for not caring enough to come to 'granny's' jubilee. He's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't'

No, he isn't damned if he doesn't. He has made his bed and any attempts to hang on to the Queen's jubilee for his US profile and US audience will be incredibly transparent.

sashagabadon · 16/01/2022 10:36

Private planes fly into raf Northolt literally all the time.it’s an airport well used by royals, politicians and celebs too.
How could he have trouble getting there, it’s literally a straight road, the a40. It is a very congested road though, I often sit in traffic on it but it’s not a difficult journey. He could get a car to meet him there and take him in either direction. Literally go one way off the roundabout and you get to Windsor, go the opposite way and you get to central London. I’d meet him at airport and take him myself if he pays me Grin

nottodaybatman · 16/01/2022 10:37

@AllThePogs me too.
I am tired of the sussexes being trotted out as cover for yet more RF nonsense.

I hope they never come back and then all the RF fans can focus on their favourites. The tabloids and Royal reporters can ignore the US and just chat about the fab 7. I am sure they will be relieved they can focus on the more interesting and engaging family members. Angela Levin will no longer be forced to retweet and write about racist lies. It will be Kate, William, Charles and the gang forever ... oh and uncle Andy
