Since this is being reported in thd DM and Daily Express perhaps it is on the cards. Seems quite soon to be moving though I don't blame them. Its quite a grotty and unappealing house and the gardens. All those bushes. Must cost a fortune to maintain. And not very child friendly either.

Maybe we could start a new thread and find M and H a new home in California? I will volunteer to spend hours on looking for amazing properties on the Internet. Or maybe I am getting a bit hysterical with dry January and giving up.chocolate!!!

Gilmorehill · 06/01/2022 19:34

@Mangowood I like your shopping list! I’ll add a beach house in Cornwall.

Lindy2 · 06/01/2022 19:50

I'm not sure they'll ever be settled and happy to be honest, even if they found the perfect house. There always seems to be an underlying element of needing something different, something more, all the time rather than being content.

I always wonder how such ridiculously big properties ever feel like a proper home. Surely most of the rooms just lie unused and a bit sad. Weren't there something like 14 bathrooms?

Roussette · 06/01/2022 19:50

I miss chocolate too Mango, I ate a massive amount 2 days ago with the idea that if I ate it all on one day it wouldn't count as calories Grin

Roussette · 06/01/2022 19:52

Lindy that must apply to all of the royal family too. Edward and Sophie live in a massive royal home with 168 rooms!
I can't actually get my head round that at all

A580Hojas · 06/01/2022 19:53

I know very little about H&M but how much do they earn to live the lavish lifestyle they have and from where do they earn it? I thought Harry had been "cut off"?

Viviennemary · 06/01/2022 21:45

Bagshott Park has 168 rooms. Shock no wonder H&M weren't that impressed with Frog cottage.

When did they say they were not impressed?

The renovations were to turn it from apartments to one family home.

They have deals with Spotify and Netflix that are rumoured to be 8 figures + each. Harry's been allegedly paid $20m for his memoir which comes out later this year
Viviennemary · 07/01/2022 13:49

I read Meghan thought it was Frogmore House they were getting. Which is pretty impressive compared to the cottage. I'd have been hopping mad too. Grin

And where did you read that? Blind Gossip?
No mainstream media had ever made such an implication.

No they haven't - although they did say that M & H quite fancied an apartment in Windsor Castle, which HM quashed. I have a vision of them having tea with the Queen, and her commenting that maybe they could do something with Frogmore, and assuming that she meant Frogmore House, where they held they evening reception, H & M bit off her hand. Frogmore Cottage was always going to be a disappointment after that!

But this is pure speculation, and has no bearing on real life events. At least I can tell the difference! Grin

Malibuismysecrethome · 07/01/2022 15:56

^^ I agree with the above I don’t think they thought it was the cottage more the actual place.

Viviennemary · 07/01/2022 18:10

Re the conversation with the Queen about Frogmore. Recollections may vary.Grin

Frogmore Cottage is the Sussexes official UK residence until 31 March 2022 (according to Google)

Gosh - that was a short lease.

Don’t knock blind gossip they had the scoop about Sussex royal at least 12 months before it was revealed in the standard press. One of my favourite e er comments said the name reminded them of a prize winning pig
rubicscubicle · 07/01/2022 19:19

Blind Gossip also said Archie is Andrew's biological baby.

It was repeated here on Mumsnet.

Quite right it's your speculation and fantasy. It was never reported as such or even close to that, intact there was never any mention of Frogmore House.

That was an April Fools post. They do outrageous stories like Julia Roberts and George Clooney ditching their other halves and getting together on that day.

what's wrong with you?
UserBot989 · 07/01/2022 23:43

Well, he's the image of Harry at the same age...................

Some of the rumours about surrogacy and moon bumps are just insane.

GoatInCaptivity · 08/01/2022 02:21

To be honest I've alway found the Frog Cott issue a bit odd.

I'm not enamoured by H&M and their exit antics though neither do I wish them any ill will.

However, in context:

  • Charles: Highgrove, Clarence House, Birkhall, Tamarisk, Llwynywermod
  • Anne: Gatscombe Park
  • Andrew: Royal Lodge
  • Edward: Bagshot Park
  • William: Anmer Hall and Appt 1A Kensington Palace
  • Harry: Frogmore Cottage.

I'm a bit baffled by it tbh.

I did read he was offered Appt 1 at Kensington Palace but turned it down not wanting to live next door to his brother but the source (Mail I think) wasn't especially reliable.

Whilst FC is I am sure a super lux property, it's not really in the same league and as far as I understand the crown estate (and the RF personally) are not short on property.

For example Sandringham and Balmoral are not utilised for the majority of the year.

So whilst it can be argued he's not in direct succession he will be son/brother of the King in due course, yet in terms of property seems to have allocated that on a par with less senior royals (pre-exit) rather than that I would have expected.

Any thoughts?

Mangowood · 08/01/2022 10:12

I assume because H is 'only' a grandchild whereas W is a grandchild in direct line to be King.

The Queen loves Sandringham and I think she thought it important that W have somewhere he could escape to as well.

Mangowood · 08/01/2022 10:14

Pressed post too soon.
The Queen may have said it is up to Charles.when he is King to.gift any further properties to Harry.
