Since this is being reported in thd DM and Daily Express perhaps it is on the cards. Seems quite soon to be moving though I don't blame them. Its quite a grotty and unappealing house and the gardens. All those bushes. Must cost a fortune to maintain. And not very child friendly either.

A smaller house would also suit a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.

I doubt they would downsize for the environment if they hop on private jets left, right & centre.

I wonder which charity will be the lucky recipient of her payout of £1. Grin

Have you not been reading the articles? Are you just talking about the DM headlines?

For the hundredth time, Meghan has won a share of the profits made. Media analysts have pegged them in millions, with one guessing around £20M, meaning even if she were to get a quarter, it would be around £5M.

So you sound quite silly having a pop at the £1 as if that is all she is getting, she is the one who suggested the £1 months ago, so that she can get them at the profit, where it hurts.

rubicscubicle · 06/01/2022 16:37
@Roussette I described her win as ‘a Pyrrhic victory’ and ‘not really a win’ because Meghan was forced to admit that - for whatever reason - she gave information to the court that was not in fact true. Which is probably something she didn’t want people to know, even if she herself doesn’t feel embarrassed, because most people think telling untruths in court is quite serious, disgraceful even.

Tbh in the context of the discussion I am surprised you didn’t understand that.
The queen also had to recollect information regarding the Paul B case. In her case, the whole court case hinged on her 'forgetfullness'. I don't see her walking around being called a liar for forgetting info for the authorities, nor is she embarrassed from the looks of it.

Do you think she was disgraceful, considering she is even head of state?

I understand perfectly thanks. not another person concerned about my comprehension skills surely lol

With regard to MM’s impending payout we are all just speculating. I was shocked that VG’s payout that was recently disclosed was $500k, hardly the millions she had been quoted as receiving.

Are you in the US - clearly you have no regard the rest of the world's opinion and her reputation in the UK, Australia, Japan and France. Of course, if you are American you are unlikely to give a fig about the rest of the worlds opinions BTW Bouzy is being called out for the idiot he clearly is. - perhaps you should reach outside the Echo Chamber of twitter to inform yourself

Have you ever wondered about her reputation in Africa, the Caribbean and the ethnic minority parts of the commonwealth? You realise the Royal family and Britain are tied to a large population of black and brown people across the globe who watch these type of comments and how Meghan has been treated and know what underlines a lot of the messages.

I'm not the one who thinks anyone should be embarrassed, you do.

This is what always confuses me when people harp on about H&M are disrespectful for exposing racism. Like seriously? An organisation that heads so many people of colour?

To some people they don't count apparently.

Maybe she does feel embarrassed, maybe she doesn't. But in the end the bones of the case was about privacy and copyright and she sent a clear message to AP that doing what they did was not on, and for that I applaud her.

ajandjjmum · 06/01/2022 18:17

I didn't know that the Judge had awarded a share of the profits, although I know that Meghan's lawyers had asked for it. Has this decision been made then?

rubicscubicle · 06/01/2022 18:26

A decision was made, but the amount is not being disclosed. Please see previous posts and links.

The fact that the fail has not published it and leads with the £1 makes me believe the amount is humongous.

Mangowood · 06/01/2022 19:07

UK tax payers have contributed to their house in some way as it was reported that Charles helped them buy it and Harrys millions weren't from his Army salary.

Upkeep however is a different matter and as neither of them.have had to pay/run an estate this size the true costs may have hit home. Or they may want to move for schooling or they may like just moving house.

If were them I would also get get rid of Frogmore. Then buy a house near the beach like the ones in Big little lies, a Canada wilderness lodge and a nice villa in the Med. But that just my fantasy home.shopping list Smile.

rubicscubicle · 06/01/2022 19:14

The reports said Charles was a reference. Not that he paid. It was reported that it was thanks to Diana's inheritance that helped with the deposit. Much was made of the fact that they took out a mortgage on the house.

Mangowood · 06/01/2022 19:22

But much of Diana's money was her divorce settlement from Charles.
And what is a reference?? Surely that's only if you are renting or was that Charles would pay if they defaulted?
So the UK taxpayer has indirectly supported their purchase.

Mangowood · 06/01/2022 19:24

I am not that bothered as my tax has been wasted via worst means via Boris but it is disingenuous to claim their purchase is wholly independent of the UK tax payer.

So the decision has been made that yes, the DM or AP will have to share the profits on the Meghan stories with her?
Roussette · 06/01/2022 19:26

Frogmore is part of the Crown Estate and not theirs to get rid of!

Mangowood · 06/01/2022 19:30

Then rent it out as it as it was gifted to them? I do feel sorry for them that they spent so much renovating it. There is nothing worse than spending on a property and then you don't like it and I speak from painful experience!

Gosh, so much trying to make it that they owe us something, they don't. We have not paid for their house.

Is it not said that Charles has his own money on the side. Whatever, he has never actually had to pay for the house, even as a reference.
