Prince Charles environmentalist flew to Scotland

Camilla and Charles flew by private jet to Scotland for New Year. This was a private trip. Why couldn't they get the train?
So much for him supposedly being an environmentalist.

A quick trip by plane is probably way more efficient than train which would require security staff.
The train’s not magic, it uses energy as well.

Tania64 · 02/01/2022 19:23

Because Charles like the rest of his family is a hypocritical selfish unintelligent elitist

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 19:44

@fallfallfall Not true. This article outlines just how bad private jets are, especially for short distances.

And you mention security. William and Catherine managed to travel to Scotland by train safely.

The hypocrisy of these people is just relentless

Roselilly36 · 02/01/2022 19:52

The rules are for us, not Gov or the RF.

fallfallfall · 02/01/2022 20:38

there are no rules against private jets, lots of people have hobbies of flying small planes. people with resources (financial) have different options available to them. do you feel the same about people who have pleasure crafts of any other type? lake boats, jet ski's etc.

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 20:41

@fallfallfall You are ignoring Charles promoted image as an environmentalist Charles even spoke at Cop 26.

Prince Charles took three private jet flights in 11 days then met Greta Thunberg
The Prince of Wales met the young activist and lectured world leaders about climate change after his travels on private jets and helicopter clocked 16,000 miles in less than a fortnight

everyone makes choices, even environmentalist and he/they probably balanced out their options knowing full well it would be scrutinized by people who don't know the full background.

Photos of Charles private jet.

@fallfallfall it was a private fun trip for New Year. What background could we need to know except that he is a hypocrite?

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 02/01/2022 20:57

stock photo at least 4 years old. so the plane is not new, is his, and owned. letting it sit and rot isn't environmental either. these crafts need to fly so many hours per year and be maintained.

MissTrip82 · 03/01/2022 02:43

It never occurred to me that when Charles urged everyone to be an environmentalist he included himself.

He’s a deluded relic who thinks he has some special wisdom because of an accident of birth. Of course he’s full of shit.

RoyalFamilyFan · 03/01/2022 09:35

I agree MissTrip.
It does make me sick that both he and William stood up at Cop 26 pretending to care about the environment, and then in their private life don't do the bare minimum to reduce their enormous carbon emissions.

Samcro · 03/01/2022 10:02

they are hypocrites. W and his earth shot stuff was a joke.

OnlyTheTitosaurusOfTheIceberg · 03/01/2022 10:06

How can anyone claim this isn’t hypocritical? He preaches environmentalism and there was a more energy-efficient way to make this journey but he chose to make an environmentally damaging one for his convenience. Whatever your general views on the RF or Charles, that’s pretty much the definition of hypocrisy!

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 03/01/2022 10:09

There's no point expecting sensible or honourable conduct from members of the Royal Family.

SprayedWithDettol · 03/01/2022 10:14

Everything about monarchy is hypocritical. Supposedly there for the common people but view us as lesser with every breath. Look at the Queens second son. Can you imagine anyone else getting such an easy ride over Epstein?
I’m sure they think we are fools for letting them get away with what they do.

RoyalFamilyFan · 03/01/2022 10:40

We are always told they take helicopters and private jets because they are so busy in between engagements and need to get places as quickly as possible.
But this was a private fun trip. Just as William's many private helicopter flights from Norfolk showing in the annual accounts were for his private life. They simply refuse to use trains and cars, and instead lecture everyone else on the environment and claim to care about the environment. Such hypocrisy.

Can’t really see Charles and Camilla stopping off at the Moto service for a toilet break.

Divebar2021 · 03/01/2022 10:50

Can you imagine the logistics of organising security on a train? How many police officers would you need and how many seats? . Who else in the household is travelling with him? Think of who else goes with him. How do you manage the security at the train station in Scotland? Does he transfer from the train to a car for the remainder of the journey? How many cars would be involved. What are the security risks being stuck in traffic… how do you mitigate that?

RoyalFamilyFan · 03/01/2022 10:53

So difficult organising security on a train between England and Scotland. Never been done before.
Oh except last year when Kate and William did a well-publicised train trip to Scotland.

@Longdistance
yes because a MOTO service is the only place between Scotland and England to go to the toilet? If only someone would build a fancy hotel or restaurant or even a private stately home they could stop off between the two countries at for refreshments and a comfort break?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/01/2022 11:05

PPs seem to be forgetting that the Queen used a regular train to get to Sandringham every Christmas ... so much for security being a problem

Unfortunately in order to defend the monarchy you have to cast logic aside, which makes sense really since theirs isn't a logical position

thehillswerebright · 03/01/2022 11:06

To be fair if they are going to balmoral it's not like it's just over the border. I think some people think that scotland is a teeny tiny country sometimes. Realistically it would take me 3 hours driving to get to balmoral from my house which is in between Glasgow and Edinburgh. There isn't just a handy train to jump on. Also there is major railway works being done in scotland this past week.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/01/2022 11:08

Apparently his Aston Martin runs on “excess” English wine (no such thing as excess wine here Grin).

Maybe his plane runs on “excess” whiskey.
