can fuck right off. Why is it when overpopulation is talked about the implication is always that there's too many black or brown people? Not to mention the hypocrisy of him having 3 kids himself. It makes me sick.

Then maybe address that quote to PW, not me, Hyacinth. If he had a word with his mum about landgrabbing and shooting animals, he could do a lot to prevent habitat loss and damage. Then we could think about taking him seriously.

There are approximately 20 royal residences but they all ponce about doing art history. What makes the RF the best people to run large country estates and tell us how it should be done?

Roussette · 26/11/2021 14:23

There are approximately 20 royal residences

27 to be exact.

Plus... I don't talk to myself 😂🤣

Perhaps you do!

GingerScallop · 26/11/2021 14:32

we are spending so much emotional energy on PW. He's probably just pulling on his boots to go out and shoot grouse. Completely unaware and uncaring about the hypertension he is causing on MN

upinaballoon · 26/11/2021 14:34

@Ionlydomassiveones

I wish he’d come and say it round my way - they’re building on the green belt like no tomorrow.
And how! "They" are building on beautiful land round here, big fields full, and I am aghast to see the number of what I call neurotic lighting some people seem to feel they need. It has a bad effect on wildlife. Sorry, off-topic, but I don't want to sit here and just think of as many nasty words as I can about William, to satisfy OP.

Perhaps you do. Of course I talk to myself, especially when I'm digging the turnips.
Roussette · 26/11/2021 14:40

Good on you, put your back into that turnip digging, hope there's lots of swearing!

Depends where he is, whether he's going out to shoot grouse, and I'm not sure when the grouse-shooting season ends. I should hope he's getting on with his life. Did you hear him on the press programme - "Part of the job". How could any of them have any sort of life if they spent all day worrying about what the papers or SM say about them. No doubt advisors keep an eye on it all, but I expect members of RF sigh and pay attention to what they have to do next.

No, Roussette has far more patience and diplomacy than I do

😂 It depends on what sort of day I'm having!

GingerScallop · 26/11/2021 15:08

am very much a pleb and know nothing about shooting seasons. Was just - half in jest - making the point that we are getting ourselves worked up while W 8s getting on with getting on. I better jump on to a happier less worked up thread

queenofarles · 26/11/2021 15:20

I'm a pleb, too, but I just know that the glorious 12th is the 12th August and is therefore the start of the grouse-shooting season and Oct 1st to Feb 1st is the pheasant-shooting season and our gentle black labrador was beside herself every Saturday lunchtime because Master was going to take her to help murdering, as we call it now, for two/three hours. (Going to local town on Monday, must drive a little further to see if a farm shop has a frozen peasant in their phreezer.) I was agreeing in a straightforward way on your point about William being unaware of any steam on here. He'd be a bit of a saddo if he'd spent his afternoon reading here.

Feeble. Most monarchy apologists at least try to put up a valid argument.

LOL, hilarious!!
I threw him a vote for the comedy award (he linked to it in his post)

@WeeTattieBogle

If you have connections to any part of Africa then it’s an even stupider and more ignorant remark. As several people have pointed out

Says you, the armchair expert.

@WeeTattieBogle

Nope - says me and several other people on this thread, because you made a stupid and ignorant remark, that no one with an even basic understanding of how resources are used would have made.

BringBackThinEyebrows · 26/11/2021 19:03

Prince Harry has also spoken about the impact of human population on wildlife in Africa:

"Human populations in Southern Africa have increased annually by an average of 1.16% from 1960 to today, from 73milion to 320million.

There is no question at all that Africa’s wildlife will be increasingly susceptible to growing human populations and their requirements for land.

Elephants simply can't roam freely like they used to, without coming into conflict with communities, or being threatened by poaching and persecution. To allow the coexistence of people and animals, fences are increasingly having to be used to separate the two, and try to keep the peace."

debbrianna · 26/11/2021 19:40

I think the difference between Harry and William regardibg this subject, one didn't come across like they are attacking on Africans.

ShinyHappyPoster · 26/11/2021 19:52

@ChurchofLatterDayPaints

Ignore at your own risk, CommonRoom.

Entitled ignorant hypocrites everywhere need to be held to account and called on it, or we'll end up with ... A load of entitled ignorant hypocrites in actual government. Oh wait...

Also we are paying for him to talk drivel. Misuse of taxpayer funds, why is that OK to ignore?

But he isn't talking drivel. You seem to be confusing the messenger with the message which is a peculiarly modern phenomenon. You don't need to like someone for them to be telling the truth and it takes a special kind of pig-headedness to refuse to listen to facts because you don't like who is saying it. It's like taking personality politics to the absolute extreme. Also completely misses the point that he'll have been asked to make the speech by those working in this field. Honestly, it's as though some of you think he just decided to do this himself.
Roussette · 26/11/2021 20:01

I flippin' hope he decided to do it for himself! (on behalf of what he supports of course)

Otherwise, what are we sayng? Anyone can wheel out a member of the RF and get them to say anything?

BringBackThinEyebrows · 26/11/2021 20:04

@debbrianna

I think the difference between Harry and William regardibg this subject, one didn't come across like they are attacking on Africans.
Prince William: "The increasing pressure on Africa's wildlife and wild spaces as a result of human population presents a huge challenge for conservationists, as it does the world over.

"But it is imperative that the natural world is protected not only for its contribution to our economies, jobs and livelihoods, but for the health, well-being and future of humanity.

"We owe it to our children and future generations to act now."

What specifically makes his quote seems like he is 'attacking on Africans' compared to Prince Harry's quote? If anything, Prince William is speaking more generally about the global population whereas Prince Harry solely focuses on the African population.
