can fuck right off. Why is it when overpopulation is talked about the implication is always that there's too many black or brown people? Not to mention the hypocrisy of him having 3 kids himself. It makes me sick.

Average family size in Africa s 6.9 according to my Google search.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 25/11/2021 20:16

@MilduraS

Do you mean Zimbabwe (average fertility rate 3.5)? Or Namibia (3.3)? Or Mauritius (1.8)? Or Botswana (2.8)?

You conveniently neglected to mention Niger (6.8), Somalia (6) and DRC (5.8) according to Google.

You're missing the point, which is that making generalisations about how many children people have in Africa - whether you are a PP or Prince William - makes you sound like an ignorant nobber.
MrsFin · 25/11/2021 20:17

His family of 3 have already consumed far more of the world's resources than any of those families will consume in their entire lifetimes

I dare say each one of us individually has too.

The UN says that the current average number of births per woman in Africa as a whole is 4.

He comes across as just awful in every way. Worst than Charles. Just a hypocritical, dull, pompous prick.

Elephantsparade · 25/11/2021 20:24

Hr wasnt speifically talking about carbon footprint or consuming resources. The awards went to intersting people. One went to a someone who leads anti poachung patrols for instance.

Cannot stand him. I wish they’d all just go now. I’ve had enough. I do think that the tide is beginning to turn despite the media’s obvious royal PR campaign in the last year or so.

00100001 · 25/11/2021 21:45

@AnnaMagnani

His three children will have a larger footprint on the earth than any African family.

Thick, pompous and apparently still living in colonial times.

Really?

You don't think there's a single ridiculously wealthy family in africa sending their kids to foreign boarding schools, jetting round the world on business trips and holidays, living in giant houses, driving massive cars. That might be having more of an impact than PWs family?

Confused

Africa isn't full of poor people living in shacks and washing their clothes in a river you know...

WeeTattieBogle · 25/11/2021 21:56

I think it’s something people would have to see to believe. The contrast between rich and poor.

Viviennemary · 25/11/2021 22:02

Its cheeky. Ok for him with tens of thousands of acres all over the country owned by his family. He is the wrong person to have made this kind of speech.

rubicscubicle · 25/11/2021 22:07

A few families sending their children the UK are not that many looking at the continent as a whole.

An average family with 10 DC in Africa has less carbon footprint than William's family who private jet and helicopter everywhere.

He is ignorant, stupid and hypocritical. So tone deaf.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/11/2021 22:07

@WeeTattieBogle

I can’t see that he’s said anything wrong.

And not just because his family of 3 is nothing compared to the large amount of children people have in Africa for instance.

@WeeTattieBogle. You what?!?! Africa is a vast continent, with vastly different birth rates in different countries. What's more the average person in Africa, or indeed anywhere, will consume far far fewer resources than William's children.

I have nothing much against him by the way, he is a bog average bloke without the talent or drive to do much with his position. What he said is broadly reasonable, and I understand why he had 3 kids, given the weird goldfish bowl they will live in. Your comment however, is hugely ignorant.

WeeTattieBogle · 25/11/2021 22:23

@Luredbyapomegranate

I’m well aware of Africa being a huge continent given my family background going back generations there.

You really do need to go and preach to someone else.

Erin22 · 25/11/2021 22:24

@ChurchofLatterDayPaints

PW is thick, blinkered, racist, ignorant, greedy and hypocritical, like his fans, his family and the people who give him airtime. Enough listening to these cretins.
Agreed.
justasking111 · 25/11/2021 22:33

Setting aside breeding habits. Habitats are lost through farming methods, deforestation, I think that has a much greater effect

@WeeTattieBogle

If you have connections to any part of Africa then it’s an even stupider and more ignorant remark. As several people have pointed out.

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 26/11/2021 02:21

@LuluBlakey1

What he said is absolutely true. He was speaking at Tusk- an organisation about conservation in Africa- he spoke about it being a whole world issue and focussed on the situation in the country where the organisation is trying to conserve habitats and species. Can't see the problem.
You mean continent (not country) I think.

This is a very bad idea for him, he should pick something else.

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 26/11/2021 02:24

There is quite a high death rate of infants/children in these countries sadly.

Surely we cannot present an equivalent between an average African child and average European or American child in terms of consumption?

Pixxie7 · 26/11/2021 02:51

I am not sure if you think he was being racist or that he was talking rubbish.

over consumption in the West, even by the average British family and more so by his kind of lifestyle, destroys more habitants than a family with 10 children that subsist on home grown produce as in much of such African families
GingerScallop · 26/11/2021 03:36

The African Jetsetters are there but few. Besides, Thick William should start with himself before preaching even to those jetsetting Africans. Idiot racists colonial that he id
