Did anyone watch this last night? About William and Harry and their different approaches to the press. Last night was part 1 of 2.

@ be remembered that you can date a black person, or even have a black child, and still be a racist@coniferforest

So what does it say about a block woman who as far as we’re aware has never dated or been married to a black male.

Unlike a world famous African American woman who openly said on one of her tv shows that she made up her mind never to settle down with anyone who wasn’t black as African American males were disenfranchised enough and she’d have no part in it.

Who said that??

Is Meghan now being criticised for falling in love with a white man? Shock

Rousette stop being ridiculous.

Or perhaps go and find something else to do and give the thread a break from your compulsion to post.

WeeTattieBogle · 29/11/2021 17:46

@AnnunciataZ

It was said by Oprah Winfrey many years ago. She was speaking about her relationship with Steadman and it came up in the conversation.

Roussette · 29/11/2021 17:57

You what?
How rude. I don't tell you where to post and when.

Sounds like criticism to me

julieca · 29/11/2021 18:01

Sounds like criticism to me as well.

AnnunciataZ · 29/11/2021 18:09

Oprah can date who she wants, Meghan can date who she wants 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why try to police who black/biracial women date? Have we veered away from the point of the documentary?

Bleddyansum · 29/11/2021 18:12

Just reposting part of my previous copy/paste as might be reported for certain words but the bit I wanted people to read was this:-

he also reportedly once said of his Zimbabwean now-ex-girlfriend Chelsea Davy: “She’s not black or anything, you know.” Because being black, for so many people in the upper classes, is still a problem.

So, while I do salute him for hopefully opening a wider discourse on racism in this country and abroad at a crucial time when Trumpism, Brexit and activism from groups like Black Lives Matter are holding the headlines, it must always be remembered that you can date a black person, or even have a black child, and still be a racist.

Yep, the old trope of ownership of women of colour and who they can date, where they should live, and how they should live their lives.

btw, to the other pp, Meghan has dated a black man who was called by Lorraine, to try and get some dirt I assume, but he defended her, another one who went on about how nice she is.

I also did not know Stedman Graham is white, considering he has been a victim of racial profiling. I understood him to be half Native and half African American.

And yes @AnnunciataZ another diversion to H&M bashing veering away from the documentary.

rubicscubicle · 29/11/2021 20:12

The judgement on Meghan's case is coming out on Thursday.

An interesting article from Dr Cathcart about how the press groom the public - in this instance about MM. As already evidenced here on MN, so many people are happy to throw, the she's a liar card all over the place without looking into any details of it.

Maybe H&M wanted to use that tour as leverage for the half in half out option? When they couldn’t do that it all went a bit sour?

Article here :

bylineinvestigates.com/2021/11/29/the-meghan-case-the-press-is-grooming-the-public-by-distorting-the-facts/

If the Duchess loses, the press will be deliriously triumphant, hailing a victory that proves once and for all that she is a fraud and a manipulator who has been exposed thanks to the dauntless heroism of the Mail on Sunday.

And if the Duchess wins, it will be an outrageous denial of natural justice, another nail in the coffin of press freedom, a further sign of the aloof wrongheadedness of England’s judiciary and (again) ultimate proof of the Duchess’s powers of sorcery.

Neither of these pictures will bear the remotest resemblance to the truth, a truth that the corporate papers have been studious in concealing from their readers.

Aspiringmatriarch · 29/11/2021 20:27

Excellent article.

Roussette · 29/11/2021 20:44

I read that article an hour or so ago, it was interesting

AnnunciataZ · 29/11/2021 21:16

Hmm, Camilla Tominey "I won't be drawn on sources" Hmm

Roussette · 29/11/2021 21:20

CamillaT is awful she really is... she crows about any bad news on Meghan especially if she breaks a story or non story

AnnunciataZ · 29/11/2021 21:47

Dan Wootton doesn't come across well either, does he?

SickAndTiredAgain · 29/11/2021 21:50

I’m not sure he ever does.
AnnunciataZ · 29/11/2021 21:56

Anna Pasternak talking about the Tatler piece was interesting. Nothing about the "turnip toffs" story though. I'd have been interested to hear how that all kicked off.

Roussette · 29/11/2021 22:01

And I think (this won't go down well) Omid Scobie came across meausured and rational

She's not terribly accurate either - wrote a whole article recently about precedence on the balcony on Remenbrance Sunday, noting Duchess of Cambrudge stanfpding in the middle of the three on that balcony snd praising Duchess of Cornwall for ceding the more important position in terms of protocol.

Except it was all bollocks - they were on the balcony to the rhs of the monarchical one (HMQ not there, represented by Duke of Kentnand Princess Alexandra). So the most important position was the one closest to the monarch, so on the lhs (from the POV of the onlooker) - or exactly where the Duchess of Cornwall, was. Perfectly normal protocol.

Roussette · 29/11/2021 22:21

Exactly , Win she often spouts inaccurate stuff

I thought so too. I was expecting him to be gushing and OTT but he spoke quite sensibly.

All in all it was an interesting documentary but not particularly scandalous so I don't know why the Palace made a fuss.

Noeuf · 29/11/2021 22:37

I’m at the bit about the Pakistan tour. Just thinking Kate looks like she’s playing dress up.
