For those that are interested - I know I am.

Does anyone know when the appeal judgement will be made.

Other royals get criticized for what they wear all the time. That includes non-working royals like Beatrice and Eugenie, which is a better comparison than Kate at this point. Does no one remember the hat Beatrice wore to William and Kate's wedding?

MummyJ12 · 14/11/2021 15:25

“The Pretzel”?! Grin

madisonbridges · 14/11/2021 15:28

And the angle she had to bend her head in the car! 😂

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 15:30

I am referring to MN, because that is where I am commenting right now.

This is the second thread on here about this same dress. As I said, nothing outstanding about it.

I don't go much on the Style thread, but I do expect they criticise everyone, and would raise an eyebrow if more than one thread about the same dress were put up. And I mostly certainly expect the criticism to stay there and not shoehorn unrelated threads somewhere else - most certainly not more than one or two comments in passing.

I did not expect to come to MN as a hate site, but was shocked to find so many negative threads about one woman who has no impact on anyone's life (she is not a president/politician, so her decisions do not change anyone's life - most definitely not on here).

madisonbridges · 14/11/2021 15:31

@myrtleWilson
Definitely do an AS on Kate and Erdem if you want criticism of her clothing - particularly the mustard Erdem

Oh that mustard thing in Sweden. My eyes. 🙈 Looked like she made it out of an old settee. She's worn well dodgy stuff. I don't understand posters saying she's never criticised!

madisonbridges · 14/11/2021 15:33

This thread isn't about the dress, it's about the fact that she signed false witness statements in court, amongst other things. But posters on here are probably claiming her signature was forged!

myrtleWilson · 14/11/2021 15:34

@rubicscubicle I don't agree it is the second thread about a dress. It has been mentioned on two threads - but to describe it as

This is the second thread on here about this same dress. As I said, nothing outstanding about it.
I don't go much on the Style thread, but I do expect they criticise everyone, and would raise an eyebrow if more than one thread about the same dress were put up.

reads as if the entire focus of two threads was about one dress

Roussette · 14/11/2021 15:36

madison I am talking about threads on RF section, not S&B. I've seen literally endless criticism of what MM wears, compared to Kate.
I remember the green dress at the Commonwealth church service, anyone would've thought she'd gone naked!
The criticism went on and on to the point of ridiculousness. I don't see that about Kate in RF threads.

Serenster · 14/11/2021 15:43

No one is stopping you posting your opinions about Kate’s choice of clothing, Roussette.

Except @Roussette does not dislike KM enough to start a negative thread on her dress, or shoehorn it 50 times out of the blue in an irrelevant thread.
Skiptheheartsandflowers · 14/11/2021 15:51

So the phases of this have been:

Kate doesn't get criticised for her clothes, only Meghan does
->
No, I meant only on MN
->
No, I only meant on one specific section of MN
->
No, I mean that there is criticism of both, but with Meghan it goes 'on and on to the point of ridiculousness. I don't see that about Kate in RF threads'

There's a lot some posters don't see, indeed.

Roussette · 14/11/2021 15:52

As I explained upthread... I once did say something about Kate's style... it was fairly innocuous, just about her style not being my cup of tea because she plays it a bit too sae... and the pasting I got for that, made it not worth doing again.
I have explained that, you must've missed my post.

Roussette · 14/11/2021 15:52

*safe

Serenster · 14/11/2021 15:54

Fair enough.

Do you not think posters on this thread having stated they didn’t like Meghan’s red gown might think they’ve got a pasting in response too, though?

Roussette · 14/11/2021 15:56

Except @Roussette does not dislike KM enough to start a negative thread on her dress, or shoehorn it 50 times out of the blue in an irrelevant thread

Exactly!
And I'm not into criticising what other women wear.

Skip
I have said on here continually that I am talking about threads in the RF section of MN.

I haven't changed anything so you're just putting a slant on it to suit your agenda I'm afraid.

Personally, I didn't like Meghan's dress because I'm not into complicated clothes like that... all straps and bits and bobs. I prefer sheath style dresses which I think she looks fab in. However, I dont think it was inappropriate in the slightest, and red does suit her.

Roussette · 14/11/2021 15:57

No.
You've been on these threads long enough to know what a pasting is.
So, no.

PickupaPenguin8 · 14/11/2021 16:01

@Gilmorehill

Having Googled, I see the Salute to Freedom was a black tie affair. However, I think M is still over dressed compared to others. It’s a dress worthy of an award ceremony red carpet. It’s almost like she wanted all eyes on her.
Out of all the women there, she is by a mile far more showily dressed. She sticks out like a sore thumb. The dress is lovely, but doesn’t fit her and it’s ridiculously over the top. I imagine many of the people there were service families. She should not have been trying to hit the limelight at an event like that.

That Harlequin outfit of the Queens is a total shocker . I‘ve never seen it before.

I think there has been a fair amount of criticism of Kate and her clothes in the past on these threads. She plays it safe much of the time. I think she does dress like a much older woman , but I don’t think clothes are her thing and she is the future Queen .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/11/2021 16:02

I’ve never been on the S&B boards

I can recommend the S&B ones about Max of the Netherlands; I rarely post, but it's fun looking at her lovely outfits

Off to check it out ... Grin

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 16:05

I'm sure there's plenty of critique of royal style to be found in the style and beauty threads, but I can't say I've ever seen Kate for example being accused of 'hijacking' an event by wearing a particular dress. The closest comparison might be the recent Bond premiere dress which I thought was absolutely gorgeous. A few posters may have said they didn't like that dress which is absolutely fair enough, but they didn't use the kind of emotive language that implies Meghan is somehow especially awful because of a clothing choice.

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 16:05

So the phases of this have been:

You are on the RF section of MN and talking about the here, people are stretching their heads, point out :

  • Oh you mean that random hate site somewhere on the net? No, I mean here.
  • Oh you mean that other section on MN? No, I mean here.
  • Oh you mean those 5 threads regarding royals, against the 70 negative ones about MM.

There's a lot some posters don't see, indeed.

oakleaffy · 14/11/2021 16:07

@Malteser71

Meghan was extraordinarily foolish to take on the establishment. They will destroy her. She thought she knew better.
Meghan is a narcissist- of course she thinks she knew better! The entire Markle family are an embarrassment. The brother making that cringing apology for the letter he wrote - He is spineless to do that. He was accurate first time round, and should have stood by his sentiments.
Tillsforthrills · 14/11/2021 16:10

@rubicscubicle

Do you ever get tired of defending Meghan constantly? What is your take on her ‘forgetting’ she was in on the whole debacle and lying under oath?

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 16:12

Do you ever get tired of defending Meghan constantly?

Sorry, I missed the part where you asked this question to regular poster: Do you ever get tired of criticising Meghan constantly? You would sound more genuine if you did.

PurpleOkapi · 14/11/2021 16:15

What exactly would Meghan have to do for you to acknowledge that it was 1) wrong, and 2) not justified by random people in the media saying mean things about her? We've established that defamation and perjury don't cut it.
