I don't know of anyone in real life who supports Harry and Meghan now - not one person. The (Murdoch owned) media have been relentless in their creation of a narrative so it's not surprising sadly. I'd say 'middle England' doesn't like Meghan, that much is true.
I'm including Harry in that just as much as Meghan. Is the news also "Murdoch owned"?
Zuluqueen · 14/11/2021 21:58

Well I’m not the only one ‘trotting’ the misogynoir & racism out in regards to Meghan. I have seen it here & elsewhere as have other people. But I don’t think these are the only reasons why Meghan is unpopular in the UK, there are so many reasons of why she and to some extent Harry are disliked. Some reasons so so valid as not everyone has to like anyone, some not so, but at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion. I guess what I’m trying to say is Meghan will never be be popular in Britain and both of them should have a thick skin and accept that ship has sailed. They can’t fight the UK press & win . They should just focus on their new lives and take whatever criticism on the chin because nothing is forever. To me life is too short to try to control the narrative all the time.

Aspiringmatriarch · 14/11/2021 21:59

The news is often reporting a narrative that's been carefully spun by other parts of the media such that it becomes newsworthy. But I'm sure you're entirely impartial.

Zuluqueen · 14/11/2021 21:59

Oh the above was reply to @Thesummeriwas16.

PurpleOkapi · 14/11/2021 22:01

How can anyone possibly believe that she wrote multiple pages of personal information that she ordered Knauf to pass on to Scobie, over Knauf's objections, and then completely forgot about the entire interaction? How many different reporters must she have put Knauf up to passing her own information to, that this one didn't stand out in her mind?

I don't think some of these posters are even real. There's just no way anyone can actually believe this.

rubicscubicle · 14/11/2021 22:01

And quite a lot of people are seeing that a palace employee is going after Meghan. So a lot of people see MM vindicated, the palace were against her.

But then again I'm in London, so views may be different around here.

Over his objections? I haven't seen that he had any objections, in fact wasn't he essentially advising them to 'play nice' with Scobie and Durand? As for passing on information, that was his job, surely?

No need for the sarcasm - I am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours thank you.

I agree with you that they need to focus on their own lives.

The exchange with Harry sure sounded like objections to me. He warned Harry that this was a bad idea because then they couldn't truthfully deny cooperating with the book, Harry agreed with him that being able to deny it was important but nonetheless told him to do it anyway, and then said that he (Harry) would do it himself if Knauf wouldn't. Once Harry threw that out there, Knauf basically had to do it, because no matter how big a cock-up he might think it was, Harry doing it himself would be a bigger one. If he can't talk them out of the doing this sort of thing, then it's his job to at least mitigate the damage, and here that meant doing it himself.

Maybe that's because she and Harry have been going after the Royal Family and he's decided the truth needs to come out?

PickupaPenguin8 · 14/11/2021 22:11

Somehow I feel that isn’t going to happen though...

upinaballoon · 14/11/2021 22:25

Gwrach, I'm the one who started with I couldn't live with the big red froc and then Rubics said frog and you explained the Welsh typing. It was only a little joke because you had said, "big red froc. Live with it." Please don't apologise for being bi-lingual. (I used to work with a splendid little Welsh woman and her grasp of English grammar is better than any English person's.)

BananaPB · 14/11/2021 22:25

Maybe that's because she and Harry have been going after the Royal Family and he's decided the truth needs to come out?

Or he needs to set the record straight before people question his professionalism?

StartupRepair · 14/11/2021 22:26

Scobie has written about being invited to Meghan's last event in the UK and how he was in amongst the hugs and tears. So he can't deny that he knew her then.

Why would his professionalism be questioned when he has revealed the email that proves that Meghan and Harry lied about FF?

Or maybe he’s seen someone in a position of privilege and power bully their employees and be untruthful in a law of court and will no longer stand for it?

Who knows. But there is no evidence the palace were against her or JK was going after her. There IS evidence of mistruths from H&M.

CauliflowerCheese30 · 14/11/2021 22:50

It doesn't matter what anyone says, Meghan is the only one who has had to issue an apology for lying, this thread isn't about what she's wearing, The Queens 2 birthdays (which quite frankly is a ridiculous thing to bring up), she lied, end of, so what else has she lied about?

BananaPB · 14/11/2021 22:54

From what I've seen, JK set up the Sussexes is a frequent accusation by M&H supporters on Twitter.
His links with W&C is seen as proof that there was a RF to take the Sussexes down from the beginning. It's often posted with a pic of Catherine having a drink with him at some sort of reception and they are both laughing.

(Not my opinion btw)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/11/2021 23:23

Loving the insistence that Meghan only gave Knauf "background information", as if that cancels out her lying to the court

I'd also love it if someone could explain how bringing up the child custody arrangements of someone she claims not to have seen in years counts as background information?

TitledLady · 14/11/2021 23:34

I suspect that Meghan is adopting the behaviour that she experienced whilst being rejected by the elite Hollywood she aspire to belong to. She thinks that this is the way the great and powerful are. Aloof, slippery and above reproach.

BreadInCaptivity · 14/11/2021 23:38

When I read of all the reasons supporting H&M and explaining their actions in "needing" to get $$$ through book/streaming deals and promoting themselves in interviews, keeping their titles and buying an $18m home I'm tempted to compare and contrast what's happened in Japan.

Just today, former Princess Mako has arrived in NYC with her now husband.

They'll be living in a one bedroom apartment where he lived whilst working for a law firm (and will resume). She's expecting to get a job to support herself and turned down the £890k "severance" that other members of the imperial family received.

I'll bet good money that we won't see them on Oprah to give their truth, despite the public/press backlash their marriage caused in Japan and the mental health issues it caused Mako (as confirmed by royal statements). Nor do I expect we will see £25m book deals and $100m signings with Netflix.

They'll get on with their lives as private citizens despite all the reasons why this wasn't at all possible for H&M.

Viviennemary · 14/11/2021 23:50

I just listened to the recent interview with Thomas Markle. What a poor soul he sounds.

BreadInCaptivity · 15/11/2021 00:00

To add I still can't believe that people are arguing that the proof that she and H did funnel information to FF as irrelevant.

Whether or not it has an impact on the court case is yet to be seen, but the simple fact is that both of them have demonstrably lied (and misled their legal team in also doing so in their behalf).

The most damming texts are actually those between H and JK where it's obvious they are using the book to push their narrative.

Time and again we have seen this couple distort the truth.

Convoluting timelines, misrepresenting facts and even contradicting themselves/each other.

The difference this time is that they've had to publicly admit that the information JK supplied to the court is factually correct - even if they "forgot" about it.

I've no doubt many people will continue to believe what they say having been captured by their narrative of victimhood but most people tend to take the view that when considering the "truth" (both past and present) of proven liars, then at best you want receipts for their claims or you view what they say will a great deal of skepticism.

How this will impact H&M who knows? But their credibility has taken a huge knock.

This may/may not resonate with Netflix/Spotify but it will I'm sure be a topic of conversation - especially when the emphasis on the content they wanted to create was very much based on a "virtue" platform.
