obviously won't be watching as him and DA lecturing people about climate change is so hypocritical.

And Charles funded his own staff during the pandemic

And so he should!

Let's not be a grateful subject for something he should be doing.

smilesy · 12/10/2021 13:37

They don’t live in all of them. What about Hampton Court? Did you bother to read it?

julieca · 12/10/2021 13:38

You have to log in to read the article.

julieca · 12/10/2021 13:40

The charity does not own any of the six palaces they manage. An extraordinary situation. Their role is just to help bring in money and dodge tax.

No indeed, Roussette, but I thought it was being implied by some that they had used the government scheme.

I didn’t have to log in 🤔

julieca · 12/10/2021 13:46

Well you must have a subscription.

smilesy · 12/10/2021 13:50

No I don’t. Which one are you talking about? The first link is to a website for Historic English Palaces and the second is just an article in the London’s Evening Standard. No subscription required.

ShamedBySiri · 12/10/2021 13:51

Of course the charity does not own the palaces. Neither do the royals. They are part of our national heritage and maintaining and managing these historic buildings with many priceless and fragile items such as artwork and ancient tapestries, libraries and archives is a serious business. I'm very grateful that highly qualified and committed people are busy preserving our historic heritage. Those buildings still needed caring for throughout lockdown, just because the public weren't visiting - do you think they locked the doors, turned the heating off and the gardens were left to nature and the deer herds to do their own thing with no one checking on them?

julieca · 12/10/2021 13:53

@smilesy

Isn’t it Historic Royal Palaces that has suffered the loss of income though? That’s the charity that runs the palaces.

www.thirdsector.co.uk/historic-royal-palaces-proposes-145-redundancies-tackle-100m-fall-income/management/article/1694523

And Charles funded his own staff during the pandemic

www.standard.co.uk/insider/royals/prince-charles-privately-funding-200-furloughed-employees-salaries-rather-than-turning-to-government-scheme-a4424866.html

Or are we talking about something else?

No the first one is to the magazine the Third Sector.
julieca · 12/10/2021 13:55

@ShamedBySiri so if we abolish the RF we keep all those as a nation? Oh good we would have access to use all the rooms at Kensington Palace and not just those the RF are not using.

smilesy · 12/10/2021 13:55

Ah yes sorry. But you still don’t need to log in. Just scroll up. At least that’s what I did.

Samcro · 12/10/2021 14:30

just saw the advert for next sundays show,
left me with a question......would PW really open the door himself?
(showed him opening the door to Clara and Dermot.)

OP posts:
julieca · 12/10/2021 14:34

Of course, he wouldnt. Doesn't he famously have the highest number of personal staff in all the RF?

Samcro · 12/10/2021 15:50

i just wondered where the butler/security were.
(obviously I know its set up for the advert and not real)

And you know this how? Do you work for a company that supplies personal staff to royalty?

No. I googled and found this below. Elsewhere it was quoted that they have 8 staff as opposed to the POW who has over 100. The Queen’s staff is even bigger, unsurprisingly.

*The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a small and loyal team around them to help look after their family and assist with their royal duties.

While their household is far smaller than other members of the family, like the Queen and Prince Charles, they rely heavily on their team for everything to run smoothly.*

julieca · 12/10/2021 20:06

The Prince of Wales - Charles - employs 116.2 official staff.

smilesy · 12/10/2021 20:12

Well that’s considerably more than the Cambridges. I thought you said William famously has the most ?

ShamedBySiri · 12/10/2021 20:18

Do you think the National Trust should also make the properties they manage available for general use by the public?

I imagine that’s a nanny, cook , housekeeper and cleaning staff plus security.

I want access to the Foreign Office thank you please, I hear it’s stunning inside….

Yes, some pp's like to refer to "teams of nannies". I've never seen any evidence of there being any more than the one, Maria Borrallo. The Cambridge's give the strong impression they like to be hands on parents as much as possible and when they are away then Granny Middleton steps up so there is no need for any other help with the children and it is kept in the family as much as possible.

Those vast rooms would provide for some very spacious studio flats with wonderful ceilings to look at while relaxing on the sofa!

Did I? Sorry I meant Charles.
