Sorry @Roussette, I have managed to make a mess of my quoting and posting due to being on my phone.
To clarify - when I said “Honestly, I suspect they are much the same as all the “little people” in the UK right now feeling various degrees of frustration, concern and outright anger because the convenient and swift form of transport they have come to rely upon, and view as a necessity, is threatened right now due to fuel supply chain issues”
I was responding to HeyBoyHeyGirl who had said “What an absolute joke. Are they that tone deaf?!” about (I assume!) the 1500 private jet flights into and out of Davos.
The point I was making is that we all, whether super-rich or members of the general UK population, have come to relay upon things like cars (in our cases) or private jets (in their cases) to make our daily lives easier and more flexible. The news in the past week has demonstrated how aggrieved we feel at losing that convenience.
I don’t for a moment imagine a Davos invitee is sitting there rubbing his fingers together with glee thinking “Haha I’m screwing the planet but I’m rich and I don’t care”, any more than I imagine my neighbour down the road thinks that when she uses her car to drive herself to her shift at the hospital. At some stage however we are all going to have to give up the conveniences we have become accustomed to for the sake of the environment, and no-one wants to do that.
