Oh. It was a rather brief appearance 🤣

DazzleDrops · 11/10/2021 20:20

Did Charles make any comment on the Queens lobbying for Balmoral to be made exempt from the new Scottish Green power plans?
I’m sure when he’s king he’ll change that 🤔

smilesy · 11/10/2021 20:29

Dazzledrops no he didn’t, but that is an interesting question. On the surface, it sounds like the Queen is trying to be exempt from using green energy, but if you read other reports apart from The Guardian, it suggests that the concern of her lawyers was compulsory purchase of land 🤷‍♀️

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2021 20:30

I’m not sure what the relevance of him not being personally inconvenienced is

It's another example of him hypocritically waving his environmental credentials without it actually impacting his life in any meaningful way. Much like hopping into a helicopter for a 125 mile trip having hectored on aircraft emissions.

It'd be nice if he coughed up the previously assessed business tax on shooting at Balmoral that Mummy got reduced on appeal as well but I'm not holding my breath.

@Aspiringmatriarch

I've absolutely never seen Roussette be rude and I'm often on these threads. I don't think I've been on one that was deleted though. Maybe the general tone was a bit more bad-tempered. I've definitely been snippy on occasion but I find Roussette is always incredibly nice.
She was rude and dismissive to me, and made a statement about me, not knowing anything about my life from 12 to 22. It wasn't incredibly nice. I felt as if I was being bullied off the thread because I dared to ask questions which weren't exactly agreeing with most other people. Very aggressive. Weird.
Roussette · 11/10/2021 21:58

No idea what you're on about, your life from 12 to 22?? What on earth does that mean?

You can go on whatever thread you like. As can I.
If you have a problem with my posts and they break TG, do report.
Weird post from you.

Aspiringmatriarch · 11/10/2021 22:00

While that sounds upsetting, I can only reiterate I've never seen any indication of that kind of behaviour and I don't think Roussette deserves to be hauled over the coals on this thread. Anyway, I'll butt out now. Smile

I don’t think anyone does, to be honest. I am sure Roussette appreciates your support though, and I am grateful for her apology earlier.
Roussette · 11/10/2021 22:12

Thanks Smile

I'm only sorry I have no recollection but hey ho...these threads move fast and there's lots of them

StartupRepair · 12/10/2021 01:25

Prince Charles just made a dig at the Australian Prime Minister who has a poor record on climate and does not much want to go to Glasgow.

julieca · 12/10/2021 01:36

@Serenster

Also, the Queen’s golden and diamond Jubilee celebrations both proved to be hugely popular events - it’s estimated a million people gathered in the Mall for the culmination of both of each of these in 2012 and 2002..

You don;’t like them, and don’t think they should be marked, fine, but there are far more people than you in the country who demonstrably do like them.

No I am happy for them to be marked. I just think the Queen should pay for them.
PreparationPreparationPrep · 12/10/2021 02:37

Eh? Did you miss the announcements that the Government has spent more than £380 billion on Covid support for businesses, individuals, health and social care and public services since March last year? It’s not like the only people getting a bailout is the Royal Family! And extra bank holidays tend to be popular (people have been known to hope for a senior nodal death to get one ).

But that is warranted for public services. Private companies - many jobs depend on jt. The RF are already being funded by the taxpayer. It is excessive and whereas business and public services need the bailout / the RF just want it.

Serenster · 12/10/2021 05:39

The Royal Family has more employees than many of the private enterprises that were being supported by the government- they literally employ thousands of people in their various private offices and palaces/estates. Plus they are responsible for their physical upkeep. The money isn’t just going on keeping them in cucumber sandwiches.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 12/10/2021 06:28

But they are continuously being funded by the taxpayer private businesses were not.

Serenster · 12/10/2021 06:51

Yes, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t also suffer from a loss of revenue also.

Roussette · 12/10/2021 07:48

It's a bit like the outcry when Victoria Beckham was very quick off the mark applying for furlough payments for 30 of her staff at her business, it just felt inappropriate, and she reversed the decision.

ShamedBySiri · 12/10/2021 08:01

I'm looking forward to the programme and announcements on Sunday. Just now on Radio4 Today (around 7:47) they interviewed one of the shortlisted applicants and will be doing more interviews each day this week. Even if they aren't winners they are getting great publicity to develop their project, the woman today said as more people were hearing about their initiative they are getting enquiries from around the world.

Well done Prince William, it's a wonderful project.

CathyorClaire · 12/10/2021 10:00

@Serenster

Yes, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t also suffer from a loss of revenue also.
They might have suffered loss of revenue but they're not suffering a loss of income.
Samcro · 12/10/2021 10:39

have to say made me lol at the idea of rousette being rude.

julieca · 12/10/2021 12:52

The RF can easily fund the loss of revenue themselves. They won't. Any chance they get they want more handouts.

smilesy · 12/10/2021 13:24

Isn’t it Historic Royal Palaces that has suffered the loss of income though? That’s the charity that runs the palaces.

www.thirdsector.co.uk/historic-royal-palaces-proposes-145-redundancies-tackle-100m-fall-income/management/article/1694523

And Charles funded his own staff during the pandemic

www.standard.co.uk/insider/royals/prince-charles-privately-funding-200-furloughed-employees-salaries-rather-than-turning-to-government-scheme-a4424866.html

Or are we talking about something else?

julieca · 12/10/2021 13:27

You mean the Historic Palaces they live in and open some rooms to the public to make money from?

Roussette · 12/10/2021 13:29

Samcro 😁😃

I agree the RF wouldn't dream of funding anything themselves. I must hunt for the articles I found about them being worth far far more than we are led to believe.
