could not believe it when I saw the advert for it last night. so PW is presenting this thing. the same Prince who flies all over the world.
obviously won't be watching as him and DA lecturing people about climate change is so hypocritical.

@Aspiringmatriarch

Fair enough! I'm allergic to polo necks on men so definitely not a winning look for me! I didn't mind the jacket though. Smile

I think there aren’t many men who can carry off a polo neck. My BIL can & Dh can’t.

When the Royals were not out and about being seen they were pilloried. They use helicopters to get from one engagement to another quickly and safely. Perhaps the Queen should be using a bike like the Dutch royals used to !

It's comments like that that annoy me, sorry
Where are their electric cars, do they go on scheduled flights without emptying them first, their carbon footprint is horrendous.

And ok why can't some of the younger ones use bikes if we're talking bikes. Their schedules don't involve getting from one engagement to another quickly except on the very odd occasion when they have a slightly busier day, bearing in mind on the royal schedule, a phone call is classed as an 'engagement', as is a zoom call and often there are days between engagements

@Roussette agree

this business of them having to get somewhere quickly is well daft.
I can understand the PM, a Surgeon or someone like that.
but a royal....no, nothing they do is that important.

They can use cars. William and Catherine's engagements in the court circular can easily be done by car. Sure it is more fun and convenient by helicopter.
But reducing our environmental impact causes us inconvenience. This is life. Otherwise, we would already be doing it. So saying it is more convenient by helicopter means simply that they have no commitment to reducing their environmental impact.

I'm not sure how they can go to places like the Lake District or Northern Ireland by car, not unless they go for a week. Hmm

As for cycling to engagements! Don't make me laugh. What a ridiculous suggestion. I suppose you'd be happy to see them puffing along on a bike getting hot and sweaty while their security follows in a car? Security, which I think, given recent events, no one should begrudge them.

The family currently have a main royal base in London, Apartment 1A, which is located within Kensington Palace and they also have a countryside bolthole in Norfolk, Anmer Hall.
2.5 hour to 3-hour drive. Yes far too far.Of course they neéd the helicopter.

That makes their schedule sound like a breathless whirlwind of activity.

The reality is that there are often days if not weeks between ribbon-cuttings and poncing about on red carpets.

And multiple engagements are usually in one City. So a visit to Birmingham, visit a project, a lunch, then meeting some key people. Three engagements but within a few miles of each other.

The Dutch royals are not averse to a private jet, helicopter or limousine.

It would be good if they could have a matrix showing the various methods of transport they could use, showing the time taken to travel, cost, carbon footprint and make a decision from there with some transparency for us.
