could not believe it when I saw the advert for it last night. so PW is presenting this thing. the same Prince who flies all over the world.
obviously won't be watching as him and DA lecturing people about climate change is so hypocritical.

But 6% of the landmass covered by grouse moors is dreadful for biodiversity.
The RF clearly do not give a stuff about the environment.

I know you didn’t say that exactly, but putting these two sentences together implied to me that is what you meant. If it isn’t, then I apologise.

smilesy · 11/10/2021 13:58

Bold fail 🙄

Dazedandconfused28 · 11/10/2021 14:21

@MopaniTree

Does Prince William really use commercial flights? I thought he chartered aircraft from commercial airlines and privately used them? Such as an Easyjet 'plane, but only him and his family using it?
When he takes commercial flights it is alongside other passengers
julieca · 11/10/2021 14:23

@smilesy no I didnt.

Dazedandconfused28 · 11/10/2021 14:25

@Samcro

To be fair i would have moaned about any member of the RF doing it. The idea that some one who lives a luxurious lifestyle like them can lecture people like me, makes my blood boil. Imagine the energy needed just to heat one of their massive houses, cars and so on. They don't lead by example.
I don't think they are lecturing you - they are rewarding innovative ideas to help solve the climate crisis?
smilesy · 11/10/2021 14:42

Prince Charles seems to care at least a bit 🤷‍♀️

Prince Charles: I understand climate activists' anger www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-58847456

It’s interesting what he says about electric cars not being entirely the answer.

julieca · 11/10/2021 14:53

Does he think helicopters are?

smilesy · 11/10/2021 15:06

Have you read the interview?

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2021 16:22

Prince Charles: I understand climate activists' anger

Easy enough to be understanding when you're never going to be even mildly inconvenienced by their actions.

smilesy · 11/10/2021 16:33

Did you read the interview Cathy?. That’s just the headline.
I’m just saying I wish people would actually read things before jumping to conclusions He goes on to say that he understands their anger but inconveniencing people just annoys them and does not translate in to positive action on climate. So he he says he understands but does not agree with their actions. You may not think he is being sincere, that’s up to you, but at least read it properly first.

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2021 16:39

I did read it, yes and I still think it an ill-judged comment however he chooses to qualify it.

smilesy · 11/10/2021 16:46

Why? They are right about change needing to happen even if their methods are totally wrong. I don’t t agree with their methods at all but I can’t deny that they are correct about what is happening to the environment and that change has been slow.

CathyorClaire · 11/10/2021 17:04

Why?

Because as I said upthread he's never going to be inconvenienced by it.

julieca · 11/10/2021 17:19

I want to see them doing things that inconvenience them. Driving rather than taking a helicopter between their mansions. Rewilding their estates. Getting rid of some groups moors and reintroducing biodiversity.

Hmm
julieca · 11/10/2021 17:39

grouse that should say not groups/
And why the face? Or should they just lecture us about what we should be doing while they carry on doing exactly what they want?

derxa · 11/10/2021 17:51

You've got no idea what you're talking about. 'Rewilding' 'biodiversity' Pure word salad.
julieca · 11/10/2021 17:53

Grin you are wrong. I know what I am talking about.

derxa · 11/10/2021 18:02

@julieca

Grin you are wrong. I know what I am talking about.
In what sense.
julieca · 11/10/2021 18:04

I understand biodiversity and rewilding. I work for a company that works in biodiversity. I was accused of showing off on mumsnet when I corrected something people were saying that was wrong. What I said was actually pretty basic stuff and not at all specialist.
Grouse moors are terrible for biodiversity.

smilesy · 11/10/2021 18:06

Because as I said upthread he's never going to be inconvenienced by it.. Yes I get that, but he said that inconveniencing people was wrong, even though he understood the anger that some climate activists feel. I’m not sure what the relevance of him not being personally inconvenienced is. Some people who have been inconvenienced say that they understand the sentiment behind some of the actions but they don’t agree with the actual actions.

Roussette · 11/10/2021 18:06

I agree. I would feel a lot less annoyed by the RF if they would take some bold positive action.

Let them pay for the Queen's platinum jubilee next year.. £20million. She's about to get a covid bailout, so put that towards the big bash. Rewild some of their land, make a point of showing it and talking about it.
Go to all electric cars and K&W make a point of taking them to Amner instead of endless helicopter flights. Take more scheduled flights.

julieca · 11/10/2021 18:07

And agree the Queen should pay for her own Jubilee.

derxa · 11/10/2021 18:10

I work for a company that works in biodiversity. In what capacity?

Roussette · 11/10/2021 18:13

Absolutely. I think it is beyond a joke that in these days and times, such a massive amount of money is being spent on this.

The extra bank holiday is going to cost the economy £1.2billion when we can least afford it, let along the actual event itself.

I don't understand why some people just accept the status quo, never question this sort of thing, never expect more of the RF, and are just happy to carry on like it was 50 years ago.
Well... times have changed. The Queen gets a bailout from the Govt because her land and property investments have dropped in value. Well... booohoooo, businesses have gone to the wall, families are struggling but all the RF have to do is ask for more and they get it.
