In what capacity are Harry and Meghan visiting New York

They are no longer working members of the Royal Family so have they gone to New York as private citizens?

How do they get to meet with Chelsea Clinton at the WHO offices and UN officials and politicians?

According to the Mail (I know, I know) they had federal protection.

Do Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as they are styled there) have much clout in the US? Why?

I think they're after their own small US principality - or perhaps something along lines of a new Vatican City? The citizenship is small currently but there is certainly a religous zeal to some commentators on twitter and I can imagine some would be forming a queue to join and hand over their money

The pair are receiving a lot of criticism for their pseudo royal behaviour in a country that doesn't have royals. They have been heavily criticised in Australia for their antics in New York. In what capacity are they meeting with politicians. As royals or ordinary citizens? This was asked and it needs to be clarified

Royals take helicopters & private jets and nobody looses their minds over it. Before Meghan came into the screen Harry was always traveling & nobody really cared how he got there. Meghan never preached to anybody in this Island about climate change. It was not her pet project when she was a working royal, so It’s weird, ( but not so much )when she gets hammered for this and others get a pass .

We would be accused of playing the race card when we point out the hypocrisy of the tabloids & some posters . HaM rarely if ever get papped, they keep their children away from the tabloids and the only other time we see them is when they announce something on their website or attend an engagement . She has not really traveled for most of 2020 , covid lockdowns, miscarriage & pregnancy meant she spent most of her time not going anywhere. I think it’s really unfair that she gets hammered for what Royals here do & get defended. I hope she doesn’t come back to the UK anytime soon, I made a mistake of reading DM article & comments joking about Harry being punched & yikes!. She is home doing her own thing & is better off there eating Doria’s soul food. People say they don’t want her here so hope she listens, when people tell you they don’t want you in their spaces sometimes it’s okay to stay out.

But that is not true. Lots of celebrities do speeches and talk to the public. It is not a "job" only for the royal family. The difference is we pay the royal family a lot of money to do it.

I agree. And I have the same issue with Prince William and Charles.

It was the wrong season clothes that rang fake to me. It looked as if they wanted footage of themselves being important on New York streets with warm coats and clasping folders. Presumably to contrast with more summery footage they get in California. Whole visit looked like a photo shoot.

But why were all the extras, including Harry who was hugging in Harlem in shirtsleeves, wearing lighter clothing?

I agree, though, there has to be an explanation. Even Prince Andrew would rediscover how to sweat in those coats.

Because they are filming their contracted piece for Netflix. Of course it was a big organised photo shoot / film shoot.

Walkabout, regal looks, hugs, "humanitarian" speeches. That is the script and copyright. Just wait when it comes out in Netflix!

But if its for Netflix we've already see them in NY.. So isn't it all a bit pointless. The jubilee will be a better bet. Except they need to hide the wires better.

It's an odd version of 'freedom' isn't it? Swap working for the Queen in an official capacity with all bills paid and a huge free house, to working for Netflix, having to tramp around pretending to be American Royalty with wires hanging out of their clothes. It's beyond tacky.

I just can't understand why they don't downsize, move to a much cheaper, quieter and more private place, cut out the couture clothes and massively overpriced jewellery, get smaller, environmentally efficient cars, and live a private life. They could live away from the media altogether . Meghan could be a yoga teacher and Harry could work as the face of charities in Africa . Job done. Their children would be much happier too, I'll bet.
