The discussion is still rumbling on...
Over on the Daily Mail site there's yet another article about whether H&M will name names.
This I found was interestingly written as it only seems to mention one other family member...

You forgot how Harry totally contradicted his wife, he said in the VERY beginning.
Before married or expecting.

Plumtree391 · 02/09/2021 12:04

I thought they both heard the remark at different times. It wouldn't surprise me. They didn't appear to be lying but it is a fact that evidence from separate people often differs in detail.

It's time we heard a bit less of Meghan and Harry. I like them but they are in a protective bubble, have been for a while. They can't see far beyond it and that will have to change. As a couple they had so much to offer, both passionate about issues and prepared to do something about them - which they did before they were together.

Harry will miss his family in time, he loves them and they love him. I really hope they don't split, it would be heartbreaking, especially for him and now they have two children.

Meghan didn’t ever directly hear it. She only heard it second hand from Harry.

Plumtree391 · 02/09/2021 12:56

Oh well, that explains it. I didn't take it as a big deal - I don't mean the remark, that was awful, but slightly different accounts.

I hope lockdown is easing in California so they can get out and get on with life a bit more. It was good for them at first to have so much time together with a young baby but it has been too long - for most people.

Which remark was awful. Do we know exact what was said?

Nope, we still don't know what was said, but no reason we can't jump to conclusions, it's so much more fun that dealing with facts...
Mummyoflittledragon · 02/09/2021 19:07

Who knows if the remark was awful. Conversely it could have been very innocent. The tale was cleverly weaved.

Plumtree391 · 02/09/2021 19:57

Well we weren't there. It may all come out in the future, who knows?

I am so conscious of what a cocoon the couple are in at present, they almost feed each other. It's understandable but not healthy long term, they have to move on properly. I can't help feeling that Harry is more fragile than Meghan now that they are on her home turf.

Gordon Bennett, anyone would think I was their mother. Being so interested in the royals shows I'm getting old. Perhaps I'll turn my attention to the ABBA comeback for a change.

smilesy · 02/09/2021 20:02

@Plumtree391 having just seen the ABBA digitised performance preview on the one show was, I’m a bit creeped out 😱🤣

Plumtree391 · 02/09/2021 21:00

:-)

I remember them back in the day, late husband was a huge fan.

"A source told the authors: 'After the news of his [Philip's] health came out, there were conversations with Harpo Productions about ensuring that the broadcast would be postponed if things were to worsen.'"

Newsweek is a respectable American news magazine, not a tabloid. If this is true, then it sounds like they could have postponed the airing of that interview, and they chose not to. Finding Freedom v.2 apparently says that they didn't do it earlier because they wanted to wait until their lawsuit against the Mail was resolved, but there's no explanation of why they didn't wait.

milveycrohn · 03/09/2021 09:26

Harry and Meghan cannot say who the Royal Racist is, because if they did the family member could sue for defamation (Slander). Harry and Meghan would need to have a recording (or something similar) to prove what was said and who by.
This way the entire family are tarnished by these allegations.

WatchMyChops · 03/09/2021 10:25

I’m not sure if the royal family would sue though? They’re all hardly going to do a tell-all interview about Harry and Meghan. I’m curious why this storyline is back in discussion, have Harry and Meghan actually said something or is it more of the tabloids just obsessing over two individuals?

AllTheSingleLadiess · 03/09/2021 11:18

The storyline is back because Finding Freedom was released with an update which includes the revelation that they considered naming the racist.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 03/09/2021 11:19

It was released on 31 August but the newspapers had advance copies so started says earlier

AllTheSingleLadiess · 03/09/2021 11:25

The royal family seem to be good at making sure cousins spend lots of time together when they are kids. Iirc Zara was great friends with William and Harry was great friends with the York sisters. Archie and Lilli would hopefully get the play with their cousins who are a similar age like August, Louis and Lena.

StartupRepair · 03/09/2021 12:30

George Charlotte and Louis could have done with some cousins as they go through life.

Viviennemary · 03/09/2021 12:34

I'd be surprised if Harry remains in the USA permanently.

So Harry would miss his family so much that he would divorce his wife and leave his kids so that he can return to the UK to cut ribbons and sit around support his brother and his family. But hey, he would then not miss his wife and kids because he would absolutely love a meaningless life back in the UK.

I don’t think it is hard to believe that such remarks would have been made by any one of the RF. Slander? So if I publicly claim someone said something racist or sexist, they think they can sue me for slander? Would they even have a leg to stand on? Even more so when the history of their institution is founded on a racist concept?

I’d like to see them sue and a good examination of the RF’s record on racism be placed under scrutiny. It’s about time they are exposed.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 03/09/2021 14:55

I think he misses parts of his old life ( not sure if family part of that )
It would seem he enjoys having status - there are the elements of being a Royal that he seems to be carrying on with so if those opportunities dwindle maybe he will miss that
I’m sure there are lots of things that he doesn’t miss at all as he hated doing them - I think he will start finding the absence of perks might tip the balance though !

Maireas · 03/09/2021 15:02

It's debatable whether Harry misses it at all. He complained about being made to go to Nepal when he was tired, for example. Often he referred to wanting to live in Botswana. This life now must be brilliant - he's living the life of a self employed millionaire, who wouldn't want that?
They seem an absolutely devoted couple, why on earth would he want to return to the rigours of royal life in the UK away from his little family and happy life in sunny California?

upinaballoon · 03/09/2021 17:04

Why2why, you say that "the history of their institution is founded on a racist concept", referring to the current British Royal Family. How far back in history are you going? When William of Normandy came over here in 1066 and became king of quite a bit of territory, I suppose he and other people saw him as being above everyone else in society's measuring, certainly following a concept of division and elitism, but I don't see how that was a racist concept. Why do you say that the institution of monarchy is racist?

Viviennemary · 03/09/2021 17:12

I think he'll be back. No family or friends roundabout. Only celebs.

PearlyRising · 03/09/2021 17:24

Yes, I'd say he'll be back in the UK he hated so much by about 2023-4
He's raised amongst all those Etonians, polo players and aristos. There his people.
