Blurb from publisher.

In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.'

@momtoboys

The moved to California to get "privacy" but all they have done since they arrived is do things to scream "look at me" and get attention.
Thats the part that i think annoys most people.

@Diverseopinions

The thing is, this is obviously so not in Harry's interests that I wonder that Meghan is letting this happen. She's been quite silent recently, and especially compared to her wedding evening, supposed speech saying she is a feminist. Even with Oprah, Harry spoke first. I can't help wondering if she's throwing him under a bus, too. She's an astute woman; she must know there is nothing to gain by this memoir: the footprint has been done in the Oprah interview; thick-skinned, form-laden royal role, with etiquette galore and not much room for personal emotion. You don't say? They royals are dutiful: that's why young Princess Elizabeth was trained as a child to hold her bladder during official duties, and her cardigan pockets were stitched up so she didn't fiddle with them. Really? We know, we know. The upper classes are emotionally repressed: we've heard it.

He's older now and less relevant. Any time that he was relevant is sinking into the distant past. He hasn't been fun for years: even the Cressida period was about trying to conform, but no girl wanted to join him. All that generation have lost any fizz of excitement; we feel respect for those who we respect. 'The Crown' drama has mined all the nuggets of scandal with better looking actors. The public believe the royal family is a fairy tale, so they are happy to watch anyone dressed in ermine pushing back the velvet chair and walking underneath the portraits.
Meghan must know this is not a popularity-grabbing move. What is she trying to do to him.

I don’t think Meghan is throwing Harry under the bus at all. I think he is doing what he has always wanted to do. Meghan unfortunately doesn’t have the privilege and protection that Harry has hence why she is not the one writing a book now. I mean from the disgraceful term Megxit and all of the blame that she gets from stealing Harry, I doubt she can take the backlash that she has been subjected to for years. Black, minority women know they don’t get many chances, not much goodwill from some people, eg Kamala Harris & all the angry , difficult women going around now. Harry can afford to mess up and be forgiven, Meghan not so much. This is why some people speculate and hope for their divorce so that Harry can come back home where he belongs.

Shameful. I wish they would shut up and go away. God help their kids.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 18:47

Megxit simply rhymes with Brexit

Harxit doesn’t have the same ring to it

They have more privacy there than they did here; they choose what to say publicly and to whom and in sixteen months, it hasn't been that much. That seems fair enough to me.

As for money, proceeds from the sale of the book is going to charity.

They are both sufficient well off to be able to pick and choose what to do to earn money.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 18:51

Which charity?

CauliflowerCheese30 · 20/07/2021 18:53

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

Which charity?
I'm going with Archewell.
AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 18:53

And does “proceeds” include the $20 million advance he’s claimed to have received?
What kind of profit does the publishing company make before “proceeds” are given to “charity”?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 18:54

@CauliflowerCheese30

Me too. Or at least another charity which he directly financially benefits from

Viviennemary · 20/07/2021 18:55

Hexit seems apt.

ajandjjmum · 20/07/2021 18:57

It'll be the Archewell Foundation presumably - of which only 5% needs to legally be donated to charity, as that is how Foundations are set up in the US. Maybe they'll surprise us, and donate a substantial part of their income to charity, but until accounts are published, we don't know.

IcedPurple · 20/07/2021 18:57

I'm going with Archewell.

Which is a .com and not registered as a charity.

Also, how much of the 'proceeds'?

Maireas · 20/07/2021 18:58

@Bovrilly

😠
I've seen that piece of film, Bovrilly, Kate's just on the left, another person on the right, obviously trying to placate and/or reason with him

Harryvaderci?

That's bloody fantastic word play! Grin

Maireas · 20/07/2021 19:01

Lilibet's christening at Windsor could be interesting....

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/07/2021 19:03

Harryvaderci?

Perfect!

CallmeHendricks · 20/07/2021 19:06

I would bet my mortgage that Lilibet won't be christened at Windsor. Or, if she is, few if any senior royals will attend.
Reports about the charity donations only say "proceeds." Not all.

Viviennemary · 20/07/2021 19:15

Good one Maireas Grin Grin

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/07/2021 19:19

Why did H&M even ask for a christening in Windsor knowing what they did about the forthcoming book?

CallmeHendricks · 20/07/2021 19:21

Well, reading the room has obviously never been a strong point of his/theirs.

KillingMeDeftly · 20/07/2021 19:21

Only the Daily Mail ever said they did @ChardonnaysPetDragon and they aren't exactly a reliable source. They knew their readers would foam at the mouth at the thought.

Maireas · 20/07/2021 19:26

@Viviennemary

Good one *Maireas* Grin Grin
😄👍
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/07/2021 19:26

The Mail does seem to have their sources though.

As for foaming, I think most people take those two as entertainment.

KillingMeDeftly · 20/07/2021 19:28

I doubt she can take the backlash that she has been subjected to for years. I agree @Zuluqueen. I don't know why Harry is almost regarded as a little boy with no agency who's been lead astray by an evil temptress. It smacks of misogyny. He's a grown man who can make his own decisions, good or bad. No need to blame it all on his wife!

And I don't know why some posters seem almost gleeful at the thought that they might split up. They seem very happy from what I can see and have two small children. Say what you want about him writing a book but to relish the thought of them divorcing is just plain distasteful.
