Blurb from publisher.

In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.'

What if H's version doesn't reflect their experiences at the expense of his brother?

Will they speak out?

Buckingham Palace have said, haven't they, that from now on they will be correcting any "mistruths" coming out of America?

Diverseopinions · 20/07/2021 17:42

'Not as the Prince I was born, but the man I have become', makes me think Harry know he isn't going to be a prince by the time it's published. I think he suspects his HRH will go.

Would Chelsy or Cressida be entitled to provide 'insights' into their relationship with Harry, being as he is - or was - a member of the royal family?

What bothers me more is that Harry may decide to give "insights" in to these two women, and given that he is not known foe being entirely truthful how much damage will it cause them, just because they had the mis-fortune to date him.

dancealittleclosertome · 20/07/2021 17:46

I think this will go the way of Sarah Ferguson's book - briefly of minor titillation, then forgotten by a disinterested public. He's clearly doing it for the money (I admit he does have security to pay for) and the 'proceeds to charity' could be no more than a tenner for all we know, but I just hope he doesn't hurt anyone with this book. Enough is enough.

SueSaid · 20/07/2021 17:52

'think he suspects his HRH will go.'

It won't though, he is the future King's son whatever dross he comes out with.

I think the rf will just tolerate and ignore him, they know they'll look bad if they react. He is making himself look a fool all by himself doesn't need the rf adding to the embarrassment.

spinningspaniels · 20/07/2021 17:53

It's like watching a toddler throw the biggest meltdown ever, and smash their playroom to bits. Only they haven't realised that by breaking all their toys, they will then have nothing left to play with.

The best thing that can happen to Harry and Meghan is that they're cut loose from all official connection to the RF, any form of funding removed and left to get on with it. Then they can really write a woe is me storybook when they're living in a trailer park.............

This quote from Shakespeare says it best
"How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child."

@Roussette

Skip You're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. TM said he didn't make money with the letter, (well he would, wouldn't he...) but everywhere you read it uses the words 'sold' the letter. Perhaps you can spend a hot afternoon proving he didn't! He has also said he is and has been paid every single time he speaks to the Press and he will continue to make money out of speaking to the Press. So...

Unless you have a crystal ball you have no idea that Harry will write about the relationship between him and his father. No idea at all. No-one knows.

Posters on here have decided exactly what it's going to be like!
Bizarre

I think the most definitive and most reliable source of evidence would be the paperwork submitted to the court during the recent Duchess of Sussex vs Associated Press case.

There are numerous documents available. Without exception, all the references to the letter say the Defendant (the DM) was given a copy. In his witness statement, TM said he provided the letter to a DM journalist. The Claimant did not challenge these statements (other statements were rigorously rebutted).

Without doubt, TM has sold various stories to the press however there is zero credible evidence that he sold the letter.

(Sorry @Skiptheheartsandflowers if you were planning to respond yourself).

The thing is, this is obviously so not in Harry's interests that I wonder that Meghan is letting this happen. She's been quite silent recently, and especially compared to her wedding evening, supposed speech saying she is a feminist. Even with Oprah, Harry spoke first. I can't help wondering if she's throwing him under a bus, too.
She's an astute woman; she must know there is nothing to gain by this memoir: the footprint has been done in the Oprah interview; thick-skinned, form-laden royal role, with etiquette galore and not much room for personal emotion. You don't say? They royals are dutiful: that's why young Princess Elizabeth was trained as a child to hold her bladder during official duties, and her cardigan pockets were stitched up so she didn't fiddle with them. Really? We know, we know. The upper classes are emotionally repressed: we've heard it.

He's older now and less relevant. Any time that he was relevant is sinking into the distant past. He hasn't been fun for years: even the Cressida period was about trying to conform, but no girl wanted to join him. All that generation have lost any fizz of excitement; we feel respect for those who we respect. 'The Crown' drama has mined all the nuggets of scandal with better looking actors. The public believe the royal family is a fairy tale, so they are happy to watch anyone dressed in ermine pushing back the velvet chair and walking underneath the portraits.
Meghan must know this is not a popularity-grabbing move. What is she trying to do to him.

I think that's a great analogy @spinningspaniels

Whenigrowupiwanttobea · 20/07/2021 18:11

Not writing it as the Prince he was born as but the man he has become. Although it will be sold as written by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex!!! Petulant little p! And it will be published next year to coincide with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!!! Timing as ever e

DeRigueurMortis · 20/07/2021 18:11

Sorry for the bold fail on the quote from SS.

Viviennemary · 20/07/2021 18:12

Sometimes I think they will come in with a big axe (figuratively speaking Grin) and take away his titles and his place in the succession. Other t imes I think he'll just be ignored and maybe swatted at like an annoying fly with some mild criticism from the usual a palace source. But can he really be allowed to go on for next 50 or 60 years with his books, interviews and stirring up trouble. Nice legacy for Charles and William. Hmm not sure.

And the final season of The Crown.

And - no doubt - a 'documentary' tie-in on Netflix.

It's like watching a car crash. You've got your hands over your eyes and just waiting for the almighty smash.

Comedycook · 20/07/2021 18:15

I think this book will be the final nail in the coffin in terms of his relationship with his family.

The only theory I can think of and I could be wrong of course, is that Harry is getting revenge against them for how they treated his mother. Perhaps he always wanted to do this but if he had done this pre Meghan, he would have been totally alone, now he is married and has his own family, he can get his revenge at last?

TheGenealogist · 20/07/2021 18:15

Who wrote it? Who's the ghost writer? Because there is no way that Harry has written it himself.

That Omid chappy, probably.

momtoboys · 20/07/2021 18:17

The moved to California to get "privacy" but all they have done since they arrived is do things to scream "look at me" and get attention.

Maireas · 20/07/2021 18:18

Maybe Meghan? She has shown an inclination to be a writer, (Vogue, various articles, The Bench) and she's a good communicator.

Nope it's a very reputable ghost writer.

Nope it's all about money.

Lots of it.

I think the fuck you is the cherry on the top after their half in/ half out exit manifesto was rejected.

But he seems to want them to see his side. I dont think he wants to cut them off forever. He wants to sell insider knowledge and still reconnect at some point. At the unveling of diana's statue he was trying to convey warmth to william. He wants his family to say oh yes harry, you did nothing wrong and we're sorry we were mean to you and please let's make up. But how can they ever trust him??
Diverseopinions · 20/07/2021 18:38

Harry could be going out on a limb and ignoring his wife and Sunshine Sachs advice.
