Harry to sue BBC

I just read Harry is going to sue the BBC for announcing the Queen wasn't consulted over the name Lilibet. They said she was told of their plans . Maybe told isnt quite the same as consulted. When is this all going to end. Seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

The other Henry was a self obsessed petulant arse as well.

3peassuit · 09/06/2021 14:01

Give them the privacy they’ve asked for and stop all reporting on the pair and their activities. No more publicity for them. I’m sure that will make them happy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/06/2021 14:01

On another note, the BBC "broke" this silly story around 10am today, which is 2am in California - even now it's only 6 in the morning

Maybe they were up with the baby, but ootherwise how are they responding so quickly at such a time?

BillieSpain · 09/06/2021 14:01

@Fairyliz

I can’t get over the fact that you would name your child after the head of a family who ignored your cries for help when you were suicidal. Why oh why would you do that and remind yourself of the pain on a daily basis?
Yes, literally planning your own suicide.
June2021 · 09/06/2021 14:02

Have they really registered the child's name as a 'brand' - wow that's so odd.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 09/06/2021 14:04

It’s just an example of how the two groups obviously can’t work together, on literally anything. Whichever side you’re on! It’s constant negativity and boring. Chalk and cheese. I am a bit Hmm at why they used the name when he claimed they’re racists who raise their kids shitly, including the Queen! It’s like he either misses them or I dont know what, but doesn’t follow that interview at all or his apparent values Confused

FYI I continue to be majorly Hmm as he KNOWS who is racist but won’t name them. So we still fund them. For all we know one who seems nice is awful and vice versa. And he still hasn’t owned up to his own racism. No I won’t let it go, zero tolerance on all maybe more so him who sells himself as being into equality but won’t lessen the grasp on a made up title either!! Oof!

Parker231 · 09/06/2021 14:04

Good - there are too many manufactured news reports. Good positive stories don’t sell. Stirring up trouble does.

HerRoyalNotness · 09/06/2021 14:05

@TheFairyCaravan

While her actual living grandmother, who lives nearby and sees her all the time, didn't get a look in in the naming process. Poor Doria.

Funny how no one said “poor Carole” when Princess Charlotte had Elizabeth and Diana in her name too, wasn’t it?

That’s because Carole’s middle name is also Elizabeth
muffindays · 09/06/2021 14:05

@june2021 it's hardly surprising they have registered the child's name and any patents / trademarks etc. More than likely to protect from some random taking control of it and using it for ill purposes. Surely this is standard protocol for any royal kids. Also it can be saved for when the child is an adult and then used by them as and when they wish. It's a form of protecting your intellectual property, probably rather than wanting to sell merchandise or some other such behaviour.

RickiTarr · 09/06/2021 14:06

@GreenPots

TBH, it’s normally because he’s misunderstood something. Such as that incident in Canada in which Meghan grinned at the paps in the forest and walked straight towards them, and then Harry sent a bonkers legal letter saying she had been unaware of them

@RickiTarr You do realise that Harry and Meghan were actually successful in suing the press agency that either took or released those photos (can’t remember which one). It looks like Meghan is smiling and walking towards the camera but the photos were taken on a long lens, from the distance, so she had no idea they were there.

The case was settled out of court, and the success the Sussexes did have with it hinges on the tighter Canadian privacy laws. Not on the entirely batshit fib that MM was unaware of the photographers presence, which was manifestly untrue.

That’s my point, though, Harry’s version of things often differs from MM’s version, as we saw in the Oprah interview.

VeilofWinterFog · 09/06/2021 14:06

We also don't know if other members of the family had broached the subject of using this name in the past, had gone through the appropriate channels and had been gently asked not to use it. If this is the case then of course the Palace will want it to be known that permission was not given as it could be a massive snub to other members of the family.

Mouseketeer2015 · 09/06/2021 14:07

@Toilenstripes

It’s time courtiers stopped lying.
This, or time they stopped stirring. These people known that it only adds to the drama. If they had the Queens interests at heart they'd have said nothing at all. I suppose the 'inside source' might be one of Prince Andrews staff, which would explain it. It's a non story, you have to question why the BBC even reported it.
Dongdingdong · 09/06/2021 14:07

Carole is a derivative of Charles, as is Charlotte.

Carole sounds nothing like the other two, but fair enough.

Normandy144 · 09/06/2021 14:08

I was really disappointed the BBC ran with this story. Who cares whether she was or wasn't consulted. It's their child to name, not any one else's (as people on Mumsnet frequently like to point out!) It just felt like another dig at Harry and Meghan to be honest. They can't win.

IrmaFayLear · 09/06/2021 14:08

Explain to me please why you would name your baby after the head of your “toxic” family…..

If the baby’s name had been Lilli then there would have been no drama. Why have they invited talk, speculation and, yes, the dreaded press intrusion? Confused

DogsSausages · 09/06/2021 14:08

Where is this being reported, cant see anything anywhere.

RedthroatedCaracara · 09/06/2021 14:08

He is not happy. Definitely not

I think he misses his dad and gran and especially William and Kate who he always seemed so happy with. He's got two much longed for children that he can't share with them.

Dongdingdong · 09/06/2021 14:08

It's hardly surprising they have registered the child's name and any patents / trademarks etc. More than likely to protect from some random taking control of it and using it for ill purposes.

This.

HeadNorth · 09/06/2021 14:08

@RedthroatedCaracara

Granted, there IS something quite satisfying about a mixed-race girl carrying the name of the Queen of England

Why? Why does race have to be brought into this?

Lilibet is a sweet family nickname but daft for an actual name. No wonder they have said she'll be know as Lili.

Because for a long time queenie made sure she didn't have to employ mixed race people in her household Buckingham Palace negotiated clauses in equality legislation exempting the Queen from race and sex discrimination

Now she is related to a mixed race person that has her name. I think that is quite satisfying.

diddl · 09/06/2021 14:09

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

I think so too veil

Naming their baby Elizabeth? Or Lili? Lovely.

A deeply personal endearment? When you have every intention of calling the baby a shortened name anyway?
Not so lovely.

They didn’t call Archie Archibald. Why not stick with Lili?

Because that wouldn’t have created yet another flurry of headlines and give a good poke the RF probably.

Too far this time I feel.

I agree.

They could have have Lili-spelt that way as "inspired by" HM's nickname.

FlorenceWintle · 09/06/2021 14:09

I think Harry & Meghan are on a mission to correct every false story written about them to a) get it to stop and b) show the media up for the liars they can so often be.

Good for them, someone needs to take the press in this country on, they’re out of control.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/06/2021 14:09

Who cares who asked who what? Why have they got Omid person spouting off?

I'm not sure that Scobie needs permission to spout off; he seems to do it anyway with very little encouragement

I don't know either whether Harry's "happy" or not, but it's certainly true that happy people don't tend to behave this way

Anyway who can say? Between the gutter media and H&M's somewhat unreliable accounts, it's impossible to know what to believe any more

Ontheblink · 09/06/2021 14:10

This

Harry to sue BBC
IrmaFayLear · 09/06/2021 14:10

But out of all the names in the world they chose an unusual personal nickname. It wasn’t a row over a fairly common name that someone had laid claim to, or even Elizabeth.

Ontheblink · 09/06/2021 14:11

BBC will twist anything and everything to make H&M look bad. It’s about time he sued them!
