Harry to sue BBC

I just read Harry is going to sue the BBC for announcing the Queen wasn't consulted over the name Lilibet. They said she was told of their plans . Maybe told isnt quite the same as consulted. When is this all going to end. Seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

@GorgeousNightingale

Interesting that Wills and Kate had to rub salt in the wound by using Lili in their tweet. Really uncalled for and very nasty move on their part. Pathetic.
🙄 H&M specifically said the baby would be known as Lili. Finding something nasty in the response is what’s pathetic.
amusedtodeath1 · 09/06/2021 16:44

Wow, I can't believe this tbh. It just seems like such a petty thing to argue about.

Maybe H&M felt that they didn't need to formally ask for permission given the circumstances, maybe the queen genuinely see's it as a complement? Who the fuck knows??

I think Harry is very sensitive right now and he has always been a bit of a hot head. It's a difficult situation, but he is actually feeding the press by reacting so badly to these things

The press are unscrupulous parasites, but they're not going to go away. I really feel bad for Harry tbh, he's not coping well with all this but he can't see that however right (he feels) he is, he is making things so much worse for himself and his family.

RickiTarr · 09/06/2021 16:45

I think @GorgeousNightingale might have NCed and hidden the thread after that cock up. 😏

Lille4 · 09/06/2021 16:46

And rightly so. Hope the BBC get rinsed. Daily Mail as well.
I wish everyone would just give H&M a flipping break. It's a baby's name for goodness sake's. It's also his Nan. Very common to name babies after family members. Nothing new here.

Charlotte is called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. There was none of this vitriol when she was named 🙄

PreparationPreparationPrep · 09/06/2021 16:46

@Xenia

If the queen were told in advance that is entirely different from her giving approval. So it just depends who said what.
Which none of us know but we all think we can describe exactly what happened!

That post was a nonsense.

It was SO wrong, I’m feeling a bit sorry for her. Smile

They won't do that. They have a multi million pound lifestyle to maintain. You can't do that on fresh air. Their connection to royalty is all they've got. Even though they are supposed to have left. Without it nobody would be giving them the time of day.

If the BBC correctly reported what they were told by a senior palace employee, they’ve done nothing wrong.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 09/06/2021 16:50

But @Viviennemary a- OP it's the public that are responding, if posters such as yourself really don't want to see them then why do you start threads on them or interact in practically any thread that mentions their name if you really don't like them.

Walkaround · 09/06/2021 16:51

I don’t see how spending their money on court cases is going to help.

Misjudged post I think ricki

A lot of us will have been guilty of that now and again. I know I have.

Come back nightingale - no harm done. Wink

But I would love to know why you thought W&K were nasty though.

Sorry, I lost the thread.

Who won’t do what?

“Charlotte is called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. There was none of this vitriol when she was named 🙄”

The difference is that full names were used not family nicknames .
My DGD has my name as her middle name but it is the full name not the one I am known by among close family and friends .

I was replying to the poster who said why dont they go away and live their lives quietly. In the grand scheme of things they can't. They need to make money.

  1. The Latin for Charles is Carolus. It all comes from Latinized Germanic. All these names come from the same root: Charlotte, Carol, Carole, Carl, Caroline (as well as more modern ones, like Carla, Charlene, Carleigh, and all the variations with a K on the Continent).

It always makes me laugh when people name their children Charles and Caroline, which is a bit like naming your children George and Georgia or Otto and Ottilie.

Btw, the RF absolutely knows this, and Charlotte is 100% a nod to both Carole and Charles.

  1. Meghan and Harry were entirely correct to buy the domain of their baby's name, etc. They would be enormously crass to ever use the domain or the trademarks, but it's a form of modern-day protection, to keep others from exploiting it.
  1. William and Kate were entirely correct to call her Lili in their statement, as that's what she's going to be known as.
  1. Harry is a fool to sue over this. He's utterly exhausting everyone's patience. The press may be grotesque in their back-hall snooping, but you cannot simultaneously try to manipulate the press (cf Scobie, unnamed sources, etc.) and then complain when others are doing it. Play entirely aboveboard or don't whinge when others cheat better than you.
  1. It's terribly sad, as this all could have been done with such goodwill, had a few different steps been taken along the way (mostly from H&M, though a few from the RF).
  1. It's also starting to get a little boring?
Jacopo · 09/06/2021 16:53

Given prior events I think it is entirely possible that the firm will have recorded the call from Harry.
That could be interesting.

RickiTarr · 09/06/2021 16:53

And if they didn't ...... then it could be another Bashir ahead !

I can’t see the main BBC news operation going rogue. Fancy a bet? Smile

Oldbutstillgotit · 09/06/2021 16:53

I do think it is sad that rather than enjoying previous time as a family if 4 , legal action is again being threatened.

Maybe it would go more smoothly if they concentrated on the US and on their core Archewell activities?
