Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

I mean I probably wouldn’t spend months slagging off my family very publicly, then give my newborn daughter my great-grandmothers family nickname. But that’s just me.

Pleased for them the baby is here safe & well.

We don’t know what went on. I suspect Charles has been struggling with Harry for years. The RF have been smoothing over the traces and putting out positive PR on him for years . Now he’s out of the fold we see him for what he is. Immature, ungrateful, self absorbed and with absolutely no judgement or loyalty.

I’m not saying Britain isn’t racist and doesn’t have a massive racist history btw. Just that I think a lot of US people lack the context to understand the dynamics here and their contributions to the conversation aren’t actually helpful as a result.

Not true, CokeDrinker. Harry was enrolled at Eton and was in the Army as Harry Wales, not Harry Mountbatten Windsor. As a Prince, he doesn’t actually have a formal last name.

He does, and Prince Philip fought hard for the compromise name that was eventually rolled out for use.

Serenster I copied from the official Royal website that Mountbatten-Windsor is the name that the Queen has agree that anyone in the RF can use should they need a surname.

And obviously Archie, and now Lili does need a surname. I think (but feel free to correct me) that 'Wales' was not an official surname, just how they referred to Harry in the Army.

Lily is a nice name. They should have just stuck with that. Lilibet is dreadful even if they don't plan to use it often. The whole name is just a bit try hard and not really worth it. The baby is not a chess piece after all.

I should think all of it makes her very sad.

This is not true. She was called Lilibet by anyone who was on a first name basis with her, which was actually quite a few people: her many Strathmore cousins, Philip's family, including Lord Mountbatten and his wife and daughters, a few close friends, Princess Margaret and her children, etc.

Also Philip did call her "cabbage" as a play on its French counterpart "mon petit chou."

Yes and this was also shown by the condolence notes from random European royals and acquaintances addressed to dearl Lilibet, cousin Lilibet etc.

But these are just inconvenient facts which get in the way of a good frothing.

Just like pretending that Lilibet and Lili are not actual names or that the child shouldn't be allowed to have her father's name if the parents enables some people to escalate their blood pressure prescriptions.

@ArmoireArmy. I googled and all I could find was that it was rumoured that he had prostate cancer, which is not uncommon in older gentlemen and it is perfectly possible to live with this for quite a while. 🤷‍♀️

There were rumours he had PROSTATE cancer. No one has ever mentioned Pancreatic cancer. I myself have Pancreatic issues, and am on and in groups for it, Google Alerts etc. If he had any Pancreatic cancer, it would have come out. You don't know anything. You were caught out making up an out and out absurd lie, @ArmoireArmy .

Agree, I think the whole Epstein thing was shocking & incredibly damaging.

I have never ever heard of PPhilip and pancreatic cancer in the same sentence.
He had I believe an angioplasty at a ripe old age and lived to 99 and died of old age.
I think it's wrong to say this when it's not official.
