Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Gosh.

Harry shouldn't be using his surname now, is that what youre saying? As the Queen decided that Mountbatten-Windsor would or could be used by members of the RF, maybe you need to have a word with her?

But never fear.... they are staying in the US ! And after reading your post I really don't blame them!

thesunwillout · 06/06/2021 19:40

Lovely name

Totally sucky uppy.

MagicSummer · 06/06/2021 19:41

Lili and Archie sounds like something out of 'The Good Old Days' TV programme!!! Ha Ha.

CokeDrinker · 06/06/2021 19:41

@littlepattilou

I was indifferent to Harry and Meghan for a year or two, but now I loathe them, and their constant fucking attention-seeking.. I used to like them when they first got together/got married, but went off them (a bit) when they fucked off to Canada (and then America 5 minutes later - back to MEGHAN'S home.) Hmm And now I LOATHE them!

And this name is a piss-take IMO.

They have turned their back on the UK, and yet have the fucking audacity to use the names Lilibet, and Mountbatten.

A piss-take of the highest order. But I'm not shocked.

'Distance us will you UK? Try to airbrush us out will you, Royal family???!! We'll show you!' Ha ha ha ha ha! Hmm

I dislike this precious pair even more now ... I wish they'd bore off, stay in the USA, and NEVER darken our doorstep again. I wish the media/news would stop featuring them, and massaging their egos!

@littlepattilou Mountbatten is Harry's last name.

Are you genuinely suggesting he should change his own last name? Are you really this irrational and eaten up with hate that a man passing his own last name on to his own children is now a ....crime? What in the ever-loving fuck? Confused

Foxhasbigsocks · 06/06/2021 19:42

Don’t like it.

Roussette · 06/06/2021 19:42

AmoireAmy

You have no idea. She could be delighted!

They chose the name to make a point. I think just choosing a name they liked would have been better, or if after a family member maybe Doris would have been nice. I think they assume the name will help her use the royal connections in the future.

Bluethrough · 06/06/2021 19:43

@ArmoireArmy

what a horrible post.

You don't know what communication has gone on between them and Queen and equally neither do i.

Just be happy for them & leave the poison alone.

mathanxiety · 06/06/2021 19:43

I wonder why they're giving their children nicknames instead of full names?

Because they'll fit in well with their future schoolmates in California, just as George, Charlotte, and Louis will fit in well with their peers in London.

userxx · 06/06/2021 19:43

@Cacacoisfarraige

Lilibet implies an intimate relationship though with TQ, which they don’t have and are unlikely to have in the future.

I agree. Not exactly close these days are they.

Roussette · 06/06/2021 19:44

Yep.

And the name Mountbatten came into use in 1960 when the Queen and Prince Philips wanted their descendants to be able to use it when they needed a surname.

But it's outrageous and Harry needs to now be known as 'Harry Smith'!

Parker231 · 06/06/2021 19:45

How can people claim to loathe people they know nothing about - are you usually so judgmental about strangers?

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 06/06/2021 19:45

@ThrobbingToothacheOfTheMind

On a positive note, Piers Morgan just pissed his pants in a rage.
Grin Grin Grin I was desperately hoping he'd have spontaneously combusted on the spot, or at least suffered a massive coronary.
Getyourarseofffthequattro · 06/06/2021 19:45

And you know that how @userxx?

caringcarer · 06/06/2021 19:45

Odd to name your child after the person you have been slagging off as having poor parenting style to the media. I like the name Lili but Lilibet is the Queen's pet name that Philip called her. They have chosen a different spelling though. Diana was inevitable. Princess Charlotte has Elizabeth and Diana as middle names too.

Only HM's parents and Prince Philip called her Lilibet.

This is not true. She was called Lilibet by anyone who was on a first name basis with her, which was actually quite a few people: her many Strathmore cousins, Philip's family, including Lord Mountbatten and his wife and daughters, a few close friends, Princess Margaret and her children, etc.

Also Philip did call her "cabbage" as a play on its French counterpart "mon petit chou."

Seriously, some of y'all need to read some biographies.

Roussette · 06/06/2021 19:45

Doris Cabbage. That way it's a hint of Doria with PPhillip's pet name for the Queen... Cabbage.

Why on earth didn't they think of this Grin

Bejausus, @ArmoireArmy

You seem a wee bit overinvested in all of this.

Quaggars · 06/06/2021 19:47

Just seen this thread didn't realise they had had the baby, congratulations to them both!
Not read all the replies (not sure I want to, TWENTY FOUR PAGES since just today?! Shock Grin )
I think it's a lovely name, wasn't Lilibet a child pet name of the Queen, so a lovely nod to her as well as Diana.

ladygindiva · 06/06/2021 19:47

I love it. And Lili is a lovely shortening.

RosesAndHellebores · 06/06/2021 19:47

If they wanted to name their child after the Queen, Elizabeth would have done it well.
