Harry and Megan have just announced their new baby's name.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Oh dear. Poor choices. Charlotte is already Diana.

Diane is a second or third name for both. Besides William and Catherine gave "Louis" to two of their own children so I doubt they will be concerned that Harry and Meghan used Diana.

Lily - fine, totally inoffensive commonplace name.
Lili - pointless, cutesy misspelling of a nice name.
Lilibet - nope, smacks of 'we're so in with Granny she lets us use her pet name, no formality here, just big amounts of happy family relationships.'

Really odd choice, I think she deserves her own identity not in the footsteps of others.

This reminds me of Harry Potter, where in the epilogue, all his kids are named by him and have nothing to do with Ginny's family.

Only Archie of their four chosen names (Archie/Harrison/Lilibet/Diana) aren't Harry-centric. And of course, the surnames!

The feminist in me is growling a bit.

Seems very insensitive, unless they got her permission first. It was a pet name used by her parents, and husband who just died. It could be quite emotional for her to hear it used elsewhere.

It wouldn’t have mattered what they named the baby all you haters would have found a way to not like it or found a massive reach to connect it to the RF somehow and they’d have been oh so disrespectful! It’s truly pathetic. Have you stopped for a second and thought that perhaps they asked the Queen first? Now Dan Wootton’s bestie isn’t leaking all and sundry to The Scum I’d be very surprised if this was the first she’d heard about it.

I love that if it wasn't for the name, some posters would apparently forget or not be aware that Meghan and Harry's daughter was part of the royal family 😂.

I think Lilly or Elizabeth would have been better. Lillibet is pretty but it’s not a proper name and smacks of trying to keep favour with HMQ after they have slagged her and the RF off. I hope they will be happy

@shortsaint and @OverByYer Actually, it is a real actual proper name. I know two women with the name. It's not a shortened version, it is their full actual name. And they are in their 50s and 62 respectively. Neither live in the UK, and neither were named after the Queen. People are simply ignorant of the fact that it is actually a name and just assume that because it was the Queen's nickname, then that means it isn't a real name.

They want people to keep talking about them , and surprise surprise they are … or maybe I’m old and cynical
