Now being reported in the Daily Express that Harry is working on a new tell all documtary about royal life. This is according to his biographer Angela Levin. And even more disclosures about the royal family are forthcoming. Is this going to go on for years. We shall have to wait and sed. I think its very very wrong of him.

Roussette, you have been very quiet about Harry and the First Amendment. Do you approve of his words?

I am critical of rf, and critical of h&m. I never understand why it has to be one or t’other.

Cinclus · 19/05/2021 16:37

What next community relief centre? Have they already got one?

I think there's one in Dominica

Aspiringmatriarch · 19/05/2021 16:38

Lol can't believe people on here are seriously criticising them for building a relief centre.

Roussette · 19/05/2021 16:44

I'm afraid so Aspiring !

Irma
I'm not their official spokesperson, do you care that much what I think lol

Indeed.

I agree.

@LittleBearPad - sorry I mis read/ understood your post!

smilesy · 19/05/2021 16:52

Are they criticising them? I thought people were just asking if there already was one? I think it’s a great thing to do. I’d much rather they got on with that sort of thing than spout forth word salad.

RubyViolet · 19/05/2021 16:53

The First Amendment comments were uninformed and showed his ignorance on the US constitution.
But calling it “bonkers” when you are embarking on a mental health awareness campaign is completely foot in mouth. In fact l would go as far to say it has echoes of his Grandpa’s famous Phillipisms. Total cringe.

Roussette · 19/05/2021 16:56

Calling someone bonkers can be not nice. Caling something bonkers... I really wouldn't have thought there is anything wrong with that.
No foot in mouth there IMO.

IrmaFayLear · 19/05/2021 17:02

I asked you, Roussette, because you have long banged the drum for M&H. Other posters can be a bit, well, deranged and fanatical so I take no notice of them.

There is not one person on this earth who I agree with 100% of the time, so I wonder why it is that some cannot admit, in their heart of hearts, that they believe that have been one or two missteps by Meghan and Harry.

Blossomtoes · 19/05/2021 17:04

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

They will schmooze people with more money than them and get them to contribute. It’s how it works. The rich people get to hang out with royalty and have their name on the project and in return give more money than they otherwise would have. It’s Harry and Meghan deploying their fame and cachet and putting it to good use. No problem with that at all.
I’m fine with it too. It’s what soft power is all about. It’s exactly what I thought/hoped they’d do.
Roussette · 19/05/2021 17:09

I have said many a time they can be a couple of twerps, so I am not 'some'. They make mistakes, they are imperfect like many others.

Saying what he said inflamed the far right media big time.. the likes of Sean Hannity and Ted Cruz.

I think this article sums up how I feel nicely..

He will have learned from it I'm sure. Of course, me saying that opens me up for all sorts, but there you go...

GlencoraP · 19/05/2021 17:09

The first amendment is absolutely intrinsic to the US system of government . It preserves freedom of both religion and speech and if you remember that many people emigrated to the US to escape religious and cultural persecution, you can understand to axiomatic it is even today to the US psyche. To denigrate it is deeply offensive especially when the person speaking is a member of the British Royal family.

Of course there are differences in the interpretation of the amendment by the Supreme Court but that is how the constitution evolves in the US. PH would do well to remember that this is not just a law that can be changed by lobbying etc this is part of the constitution it is not going anywhere and criticism by a member of the British Royal family is not going to be received well .

GlencoraP · 19/05/2021 17:11

All that said I expect most people will just laugh into their coffee and regard him as a misguided ‘twerp’

Roussette · 19/05/2021 17:14

So he's a member of the British Royal Family (said twice) when he makes a faux pas but shouldn't even be referred to as Prince Harry or Duke of Sussex when building kitchens in famine hit places.....

He did say he didn't know enough about it.

Roussette · 19/05/2021 17:16

GlencoraP The word 'twerp' is going out of fashion and I am revitalising it and bringing it back. Grin

Blossomtoes · 19/05/2021 17:16

He did say he didn't know enough about it

He shouldn’t have mentioned it then. It was ridiculously stupid, however you want to cut it.

Roussette · 19/05/2021 17:17

That's telling 'im Blossom !!

GlencoraP · 19/05/2021 17:18

Where did I say anything about the kitchen thing . I think what he’s called is irrelevant he could be called Mickey Mouse he’s still a member of the British royal family and as far as many Americans are concerned ( tongue in cheek ) the very reason they fought a war of independence.

Thank you to those who said where the other centres were. Wine

Myphone · 19/05/2021 17:28

They have security concerns, they want their children to grow up away from the limelight but PH has chosen to publicly comment negatively on the First Amendment. Now that’s not going to draw certain attention to them.

RubyViolet · 19/05/2021 17:40

@Roussette

Calling someone bonkers can be not nice. Caling something bonkers... I really wouldn't have thought there is anything wrong with that. No foot in mouth there IMO.
Saying the word bonkers in any context when you have taken the platform as a face of mental health is completely thoughtless. This is not how someone with his platform should be speaking. It shows he really isn’t serious about this role at all.

But then charging pay to view for a documentary on mental health shows that this really isn’t a serious attempt to reach the widest audience. We all know what this is.
