The royal family

To be shocked at some RF members turning their back?

It has been reported that some Royal Family members literally turned their back on Prince Harry at Prince Philip's funeral and refused to even acknowledge him.
I have had extended family members behave badly and are in no hurry to be friendly. But I think this is appalling behaviour. I would never do that and especially not at a funeral.
It reminds me of that video being shared where William and Kate totally snub and ignore Harry and Meghan.
It is just so rude and awful.

It’s Omid Wink

OP H&M we’re not ignored on Commonwealth day 2020 , they had a fit when they’ve learned they were not to walk by order of hierarchy , after William and Charles ., so the Queen asked both brothers and wives to be seated before she enters with Charles and Camilla.
Just as she asked all of them to wear mourning suits instead of military to save him any embarrassment.

bullyingadvice2017 · 06/05/2021 20:06

See I would rather turn my back on someone. If you have nothing polite to say a funeral is not the place so just dont say anything at all.
I would not make small talk just to avoid awkwardness. Why talk to them if you can't be doing with them? That is just being two faced.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/05/2021 20:07

@fiheka I can't imagine for a minute that William counts a second cousin who anyone barely knows as "family" when in the interview it was mentioned that the alleged racism came from a senior royal.

And he could hardly say "we're not a racist family, except for Princess Michael of Kent"

mogtheexcellent · 06/05/2021 20:07

They want the titles but they want to pick and choose their life and not do the opening of eg carpet factories in the north east of England.

As far as I recall I believe either Zara or Mike Tindall said they all got into their cars immediately after the funeral. The rules are/were no mixing at that point. Ceremony only.

Sarahandco · 06/05/2021 20:08

They probably feel that he betrayed his family.

amusedtodeath1 · 06/05/2021 20:08

Oh please stop with the "Diana would have thought XXX" crap. No one knows how she would have felt. She loved both her boys and would be very upset at any rift, obviously, but we have no clue who's "side" she would support.

If a member of my family, my son, my brother went on TV disparaging my family, upsetting my 95 year old Gran/Mum while her husband was dying then I'd have done a lot more than turn my back.

Let's face it, MM had issues with her own family because they were talking to the press in an unflattering way. Surely she can understand why his family would feel upset even if he can't???

Fuckingcrustybread · 06/05/2021 20:12

@fiheka

Where did I say I support whatever Harry and Meghan have done? There are clearly different versions of what happened and I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle with all parties being to blame. But treating a family member in this way is a sure way to make them walk away. Would you really be happy for your partner or dad to treat your son in this way?
Harry was happy enough with what his wife said about his family. What's the difference?
fiheka · 06/05/2021 20:12

@mogtheexcellent it was reported that there was a 2 hour meeting afterwards
@Theunamedcat He is thick yes. Most of the RF are not gifted in that department though to be fair. Their distinct lack of any academic prowess is clear to see.
I have a low opinion of anyone that needs a course to understand that racism is wrong yes. I don’t know anyone in real life that needs that.

He’s made his bed. He gets everything he deserves.
Looks like MN posters need a course, cause they have no idea what racism is.

On here, I was explaining what it means, and was labeled a racists post. Showing exactly my point.

Also, if you point it out, people get offended.

StillRailing · 06/05/2021 20:16

Millionaire slags off family does rather sum the Harry situation up.

This thread is also reminiscent of terrible offices I've worked in: second hand takes on the fallings out, the alleged snubbings, the sheer mundane drama of it all.

tinkyywinky · 06/05/2021 20:17

But not turning their backs on Andrew?!

queenofarles · 06/05/2021 20:17

@mogtheexcellent it was reported that there was a 2 hour meeting afterwards it was also reported that Harry apologised to Catherine about Meghan bad mouthing her Wink.

I believe none, all bridges are burned after that interview.

Mummy194 · 06/05/2021 20:18

MM's family were not talking facts, or recounting what took place they were plain out lying. That is the difference.

Samantha's narcissist princesses pushy is not based on anything as she had no involvement with MM for over a decade. Did she not call Doria a maid or something.
TM admitted he lied, like 3 times.

leli · 06/05/2021 20:20

I don't understand why OP keeps calling RF members 'ignorant'. Ignorant of what?

If I were a RF member I wouldn't have literally turned my back on him but I would certainly have been decidedly frosty and let Harry know that I was cross with him and not interested in a continuing relationship. Abusing people who can't answer back is just fundamentally nasty and idiotic. It's fine for Harry to leave the RF and go to California, it's a good plan for the otherwise second string second son, but insulting and abusing your family on the way out is unacceptable.

My grandchild is mixed race and my d-i-l, her father, siblings and me spent many happy hours speculating about how dark baby would be and what sort of hair they would have. Because we all fundamentally trust each other these speculations have led to nowhere but

When did this 'fit' take place.

Do give us the details.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 06/05/2021 20:20

Seriously? It was Princess Anne they accused of being a rascist. if my sister did that I'd kick her arse down the road never mind turn my back on her.
I'm amazed he had the nerve to turn up at all.

JudgeJ · 06/05/2021 20:20

@Toilenstripes

Well someone in the family questioned the colour of the skin of their future children. And we know that Princess Michael wore a Blackmoor broach the first time she met Duchess Meghan.
Did they also wonder if he would have red hair like his father, taxi door ears like his grandfather? Where a mixed race couple are having a baby isn't skin colour just another thing to wonder about, without being malicious?
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/05/2021 20:22

The Markles (as in Samantha and Thomas and their lot) are 24 carat gold batshit lunatics. I wish people would stop giving them even a thought let alone mention online.

@tinkyywinky

But not turning their backs on Andrew?!
Exactly!
OP posts:
Marmaladeagain · 06/05/2021 20:23

Exactly the same - Meghan and Harry said things the British public recognised as lies and more were revealed after through fact checking, so exactly same as her dad and sister. Don’t know if it is learned behaviour or a particular personality type?

MargaretFraggle · 06/05/2021 20:23

Yes, whatever the ins and outs of her in-law troubles, Meghan stating that she has lost her father was very insensitive.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/05/2021 20:24

To be blunt, Andrew is yesterday's news, I doubt anyone would care enough to even notice if he was snubbed, which I'm sure he will have been.

Bet the revolting nonce is positively joyful that his time as The Bad Guy was short lived

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 06/05/2021 20:25

@MargaretFraggle

Yes, whatever the ins and outs of her in-law troubles, Meghan stating that she has lost her father was very insensitive.
People who don't have toxic, abusive and dangerous parents will NEVER understand the liberation of cutting them out. If she feels she's lost her father then good for her - a man who makes money off his daughters good name is not fit to be called a father
fiheka · 06/05/2021 20:25

There are pr attempts to improve Andrews image. He has been the opposite of snubbed.

OP posts:
Theunamedcat · 06/05/2021 20:26

Charles had Andrew booted out of the Palace allegedly that was HIS decision
