The royal family

To be shocked at some RF members turning their back?

It has been reported that some Royal Family members literally turned their back on Prince Harry at Prince Philip's funeral and refused to even acknowledge him.
I have had extended family members behave badly and are in no hurry to be friendly. But I think this is appalling behaviour. I would never do that and especially not at a funeral.
It reminds me of that video being shared where William and Kate totally snub and ignore Harry and Meghan.
It is just so rude and awful.

It’s in the Independent too

CallmeHendricks · 13/05/2021 19:23

What the fuck is he playing at?

CauliflowerCheese30 · 13/05/2021 19:25

This!!
smilesy · 13/05/2021 19:32

@nishky. It’s in the Telegraph too. They have quoted from the podcast. He seems to be criticising his upbringing by his father and also saying that his father only learnt from his parents in turn. Ooh err!

Blossomtoes · 13/05/2021 19:32

He’s totally lost the plot. He has absolutely no idea of when to stop.

StormzyinaTCup · 13/05/2021 19:41

I did see the article nana (and gosh there is a lot to chew over there). At the mo a large part of me is leaning towards ‘OMFG what are you doing’ in an angry way, however, there is a small part of me is genuinely quite sad as he obviously has a whole host of issues and is unloading/unraveling in a very public way for someone who craved privacy.

I do hope, given the amount of money that Netflix are hoping to make off the back of the couple, that they consider/consult PH as to whether now is the best time to be releasing their new documentary on as yet unheard tapes made by Diana. I think if they don’t consider this it will be clear where Netflix loyalties lie (and it won’t be anything to do with mental health).

I read yesterday that Gayle King is doing a documentary type thing called ‘The Queen after Prince Philip’ or something like that where she delves into the queens childhood through to after she has lost PP (so will probably will be full of inaccuracies!).

It’s all turning into the royal version of Eastenders, I feel very sorry for the Queen 😢

I agree. Completely. I’m halfway between astounded and sympathy myself.

It looks as though there is a lot to unpick there. I’m not qualified in such matters though.

But if he really really thinks that this is the best way to deal with it, he is very much mistaken.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/05/2021 19:56

Strange he blames the RF for all his mother’s problems. She was a sad child brought up in the middle of a very acrimonious divorce , she hadn’t had a good childhood at all.

smilesy · 13/05/2021 19:56

Some of the papers are also reporting that Pail Burrell is commenting on the Netflix documentary on Diana that will be out soon, and that it may cause Harry some distress as Netflix will reveal private details on Diana. Obviously this is Paul Burrell so maybe it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, but you have to wonder how he will feel about the Netflix deal afterwards.

CallmeHendricks · 13/05/2021 20:05

This is turning into a complete trainwreck.

Harry, STOP. Just stop.

derxa · 13/05/2021 20:10

Poor Charles Sad

SirVixofVixHall · 13/05/2021 20:12

Also poor Queen. Newly widowed after so many decades married. He seems to not care at all about his family.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 13/05/2021 20:12

Charles must be devastated, talk about twisting the knife.

Mysterian · 13/05/2021 20:14

I think of this every time I see this thread.

dancealittleclosertome · 13/05/2021 20:19

I am past middle-aged and didn't know of the racial connotations of the word until Eamon Holmes was in trouble for saying it. I only knew about the Mr Men man. I do, however, get the sense that if people did use it, they would use it to describe a woman, and not a man. Which makes it a misogynistic word also.

Meanwhile, is it possible that the newspapers have twisted Harry's words to make them more offensive than they actually were?

Serenster · 13/05/2021 20:21

If you care to look at the Mail’s coverage, they include a transcript of the podcast, so you can read it and see.

StormzyinaTCup · 13/05/2021 20:22

The transcript has been published in a few places dance so I don’t think so, sadly.

Lauren15 · 13/05/2021 20:23

H really doesn’t want a good relationship with his family does he?

smilesy · 13/05/2021 20:23

@dancealittleclosertome this is from the Telegraph which is quoting verbatim from the podcast

“Asked if he was consciously trying to “parent” his son, Archie, in a different way to his own upbringing, he said: “Yeah... Isn’t life about breaking the cycle? There’s no blame. But certainly when it comes to parenting, if I have experienced some kind of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father, or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure I break that cycle so I don’t pass it on.”

dancealittleclosertome · 13/05/2021 20:24

Oh dear. Was just hoping that maybe he hadn't completely sold them down the river.

Blossomtoes · 13/05/2021 20:25

@Lauren15

H really doesn’t want a good relationship with his family does he?
It doesn’t look that way. He seems desperate to force them into cutting him off.
mermaidsariel · 13/05/2021 20:31

I just can't believe what Harry is doing and saying. The damage he is doing is incalculable. It's madness.

OverByYer · 13/05/2021 20:31

Omg he really needs to shut up. He really does have a huge chip on his shoulder. He’s very fixated about being able to go out on his bike

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 13/05/2021 20:34

I feel really sorry for the Queen and for Prince Charles.

You would wonder if he is trying to force them to pull up the drawbridge so that he can continue in the victim mode.

I’m sorry he is struggling with things. But I’m feeling more sorry for the Queen and Prince Charles. H’s determination to play it out in LaLa Land is designed to make them look bloody awful when, like most parents, I suspect they got on with things as best they knew how.

I do agree with sirvix though. Di was damaged a long time before she stepped into the royal fold.
